Finally Drag Racing the Supra after 9 years!

It's been a long time coming, but I'm finally out on track!
Personally, I don't like drag racing, but it is something I have needed to do, to set a baseline again after 9 years of having done it when the car was completely stock!
I bought some Drag Tyres and a pair of Weld Wheels purposefully to eliminate traction as an issue, and launch it for the first time with them on. I didn't want to do a burnout because I wanted to avoid as much stress as I could from the driveline, with the intention of allowing some slip if necessary, hopefully saving the parts.
Now when you see a Supra on Drag wheels you assume it’s at least an 8 second car and a monster but looks can be deceiving 😂
Enjoy my reasoning that some would call excuses as to why I didn’t get the number you may expect to see and tell me what I could/should do better!
I’m all ears but until someone wants to pay for my driveline if it breaks, I won’t be coming back! 😂
Getting this straight line stuff out the way before we get back into circuit stuff 👌🏽

Axle tramping is where rather than the car simply losing traction and the tyres spin smoothly, they’re actually skipping and bouncing around, which you feel as a banging violent sound through the whole car.. I believe it’s typically caused by soft suspension bushes and/or incorrect suspension set up in general. Each skip and bounce is like another shock wave through the whole driveline and it happens so rapidly like a machine gun going off, that there is a high chance that one of those shocks will crack, or snap something while the old 2J is trying to turn it all with no remorse 😂

Duty cycle is what we change in an electronic boost controller to raise or lower the boost. At least in my boost controller, the duty cycle refers to the amount of pulsations that the solenoid is doing to let a certain amount of boost pressure get to the wastegate. It has a pressure sensor that tells what boost it achieved at its peak, and you can watch it live but it’s hard to focus on the live boost while trying to send it. The only way to watch boost properly is actually to go into the data stored by the ecu on any given run that has been done. The ecu has its own safety measure programmed in during the tuning process to make sure you don’t blow shit up so for whatever reason, I think I accidentally set this limit to 23psi so whenever it got too close to that, it would cut out, hence my constant adjusting of the duty cycle to find a sweet spot. The only run I got to 23psi was the last run where it was heaps faster, but the result was worse because it cut out and it fried the tyres coming off the line so the whole run was wasted

did you check your tyre pressures? also are you running a radial?

Hey mate yeah I was running a radial but no burnout to get it to any form of temperature and I think the tyres were on 23ish psi but I can’t remember now. Even if I had more grip though I’d be too scared to launch it hard enough because I was terrified of breaking it

@@Matt_JZ ahhh okay, for a manual you try and run a slick, start pressures from 15 and work back. Riding the clutch is key as well if you don’t want to break anything!
