Finally Fixed Misfire Issue With My N54 at WOT

Hey people today i am showing how i fixed a misfire issue with my n54 that would only happen when i would go wide open throttle. This is a interesting trick you can do in order to fix a misfire issue. I basically added an extra decoupling ring on the injector and it fixed my issue i was trying to figure out for a long time. Thank you!! This solved my wide-open-throttle under load (going up a hill) misfire on a 118K mile 135. Identical issues to yours. Just as additional symptom - the car would rev fine over 6K RPM with no load. It required the load, and I assume boost pressure, to trigger the misfire. This started with the replacement of the fuel injectors that were causing "bank 1 too lean" errors for months. So I had new injectors, and then the misfire started to occur - I had gone through all the prior steps - new plugs and coils. Glad to learn this solution!

Good to hear! This fixed my issue until I raised boost to 27psi. The extra pressure was too much for the bore. So I had to drill and install an injector bore insert. I made a video on it aswell

I was thinking the same thing but it was basically my only option left after making sure everything else was good. luckily it’s been holding strong almost 10k miles later on stage 2+ MHD tune

I’ve been fighting 2 misfires for months. I’ve tested,swapped always 2 mis. Doing leak down test. This has to be my issue in S63. Wonder if copper washer would work as well ?

hmm interesting fix, how much boost are you running? Is this still working? I have the same issue with my bracket bolt for cyl 1&2, cross-threaded and broke off in the head.. going to do a time-sert.

Was running about 18-19 psi and it’s been about a year or a good 10k miles and still holding. I’ve even turned up the boost to 22 and still holds.

Thanks for the video, does the second coupler change the depth of the injector when its installed? My injectors pull out by hand too fyi ;)

Yes it does, u can try 1 coupler with Teflon tape, try this method + Teflon. If your injector bore is bad enough you’ll have to retap and redo the hole with the kit

There is no cheap fix 😭. Drill it and make new threads or try to clean the threads

To compress the seal that goes on the tip of the injector.

Makes a better seal for the injector port. I believe the DME detects combustion is leaking and shuts down the cylinders

@@menjicar brand im buying says 500 degrees.. I dont think motor gets that hot... 250 max... if ur engine gets to 500 degrees.. u got bigger problems lol

Yes on both. Make sure you replace the bottom black seal every time you remove the injectors from the holes. EVERYTIME

I will bro I messed up I pulled out all injectors one by one and cleaned them 🤕I was only having misfires in the morning now it’s like urs I think its my seals tho

I had miss fire only on 5 I switched the 5 injector with cylinder 1 and still the same miss fire for 5

I did 2 step as well, what was the gap you went with? Edit: update, I went with a 0.20 gap since I’m pushing over 650HP. If you’re near 500, I’d go with a 020.0 and if you’re less than that go with 0.22. They recommend 0.20 for all applications it’s the sweet spot, but if you start to misfire it’s because the gap might be to close, so just check if it misfires and if it does, open the gap until it stops.
