I wouldn't say it's that bad or near that bad 😂 if I had a low mileage M5 of course I agree but when we're talking about an almost 200k mile car that's a project I am not spending 3k on coilovers 😂
For the PDC, i can say that much, if the car has only rear PDC then it won't have a button in the interior, it works by the reverse gear sensor only so it could very well be and probably is stock.
ABS unit is a piece of cake. Seperate the electronic porition from it (torx screws) so you don't have to mess with the brake lines. You need software on a laptop and you can code a used module into the car. Did it on an E53 X5, worked like a charm, $140 from ebay, coded it, lights gone. Zero issues. Yours is 10x more accessible than the placement on the X5. STOLE the X5 because the owner thought the transmission was toast - ABS module was throwing it into trans fail safe lol.
Both cars look good and could be worth the investment either way. Personally, I like the silver on silver and it’s a Dinan car with all the parts already on it. The blue is really nice, but if the white or red comes up I think it would be worth fixing it up and not getting too deep into it when white/red is the goal.
Also that’s typical m62 and s62 engine sounds add maybe thicker oil to quite it down but these engines tend to make noise even if the vanos units are new
Congrats! I have a 2001 Lemans E39 M5. I have the same paint peal but its no problem! Again, Congrats! P.S. The 2000 year M5 only had read PDC, and the facelift had them in the from and back.
What do you mean that is a base steering wheel? It's an M-Sport/M-Tech 4 steering wheel. It's the same for the M5, and the cars with the M-Sports package. The "base" wheel is four spokes. Since yours is a 2000, it likely had the M-Tech 3 steering wheel previously, and this one was swapped in.
Yes I am aware of the different steering wheels, by base I am referring to a base model non-M car, M5's have M stitching and are thicker. Just simply stating the steering wheel was from a base car and not an M5

@@javierjimenez3627 M5 as a daily is not really the best idea, unless you are wealthy. The next best thing is a 6 speed 540i, those are manageable, but also relatively expensive to get.
Seat motors are toast drawing too much. Trifecta leads to the ABS unit being rebuilt or swapped out for a good one...........heat kills them off........if the car has speed sensor problems or brake pressure valve codes its usually the ABS module and not the mentioned components. If you rebuild the current module no coding will be needed. Think I would rather deal with heat damage than the rot of rust we deal with here.........currently rebuilding jacking points on a Imola red Msport. As for buying projects............what fun is a sorted car........cant learn to weld paint or do mechanical work on a trailer queen. Nice car enjoy it and fix shit as it blows up. Cheers.
I appreciate your knowledge and input as always, helps alot! I will scan the car and check if there's codes and see what's going on. Most likely going to grab a unit from another car and code it. Definitely happy I don't have to deal with rust issues but glad to hear an Imola car is getting saved! Hope to have something Imola soon if I can find one and get a deal. I also agree it's much more fun to learn and go through the process, I was just expecting a better car on this particular one!
I wish it was that easy 😂 it's a very rare color and when one does pop up it's twice the price. If one does pop up and I can afford it I will buy it asap, same with Imola Red
I have an e39 540 having the blown fuse situation I am currently working on it should be fuse 13 if you have anything fix let me know because currently I’m working on trying to figure out what it is. It’s just very time consuming plus many fuses later lol
@@chacebarnes01 Yea but you’re going to have to respray, it’s high mileage, and going to have interior swap…shouldn’t look at it like an investment with all that against the car. Still watching lol
The respray is the worst part but the interior swap is very easy, it's 190k miles within 24 years so it's high miles but in reality it's less than average being only 8k miles a year. The car is an investment they're harder to find each year and the value goes up every year, so if I sit on it and hold it as is or I put a bunch of work into it it'll still be an investment either way
Ok, my main concern would be the Over Advanced Bank 2 timing code. From my understanding that’s the first code to appear with chain guide issues. Have you checked the tensioner? Also to confirm any chain guide issues, I’d drop the oil pan and see if there’s any plastic bits from the guides.
