Congrats on your grail piece mate, wear it in good health, if I would’ve bought the yellow gold that would’ve been the exact configuration, that silver dial is so versatile 😻😻
My pleasure! Thank you for the comment! I do wish the bracelet screws weren’t so tiny. Having to integrate the ceramic “sleeve” into the link forces the actual screw to be thinner. I have found out the hard way that it’s best to let a pro size this one.
Congratulations. It is an iconic piece. I was offered one last month and passed, but because it was the wrong time, not the wrong piece. Everything about this piece is so right and it will definitely be in my collection one day.
Thank you very much! Bizarrely the DD40 represents a relative bargain in the world of modern Rolex. I had the chance to trade multiple watches (and add beaucoup ca$h) to acquire it; and nowadays you can’t pass up the chance trade up with multiples of non-Rolex. Be well!🥰
I myself really wanted this watch, because my uncle owns one. So I traded 3 watches and some cash for the President 1803, with the pie pan dial. Finally got my grail, going to see my uncle to compare together- as the we band together! lol. Btw great vid, and enjoy your beautiful time piece! They are Such Elegant and classy timepieces.😃👍cheers, Matt
Great story! It’s always satisfying to achieve a grail and the YG DD in all its varieties is a worthy one. In a pinch it can be traded for safe passage out of a war zone. Try that with any other watch.
@@soundsoserious lol! Absolutely, but it’s not for sale, too much put in, and memories that go with it. I will eventually pass it down to one of my boys. But it’s a stunner, the 36, champagne dial with the gold sticks, with the arcrlylic top is just beautiful! I’ve had it now for 16 years, it keeps perfect time, and it’s such a classic. Looking forward to seeing my uncle, as I fly, to tease each other- on the Big Rolex time!lol
Well said. This watch is interesting in that works well for any age and any style. Wear it with flip flops, sneakers, or dress shoes and you’re always on point. It looks so cool on younger men and women in casual clothes, but at the same time it is standard operating issue for the country club crowd.
@@soundsoserious lol! That’s the truth! It goes with any occasion. I try to wear it humbly, really use it for special purposes, otherwise I’m wearing my Brietling Chronomat, in my jeans and t-shirts when just fiddling in the town.. But my Rolex is a very special timepiece, that many do not possess. I wish everyone could own and experience this fabulous watch, in their collection as well.
Great review! Love this combination! Curious if you considered the champagne dial w/ the Roman numerals. I’m “in the market” and I have it narrowed down to one or the other.
Thanks! Honestly I didn’t consider the champagne…not because it isn’t awesome but because I thought the silver would break up some of the gold and maybe match my wedding ring (which is platinum) a little better. The champagne is epic but the look is VERY drippy which may or may not be what you’re going for. Hope that helped!!!
The Google algorithm sent me your way! Congrats on this beautiful watch. Enjoyed your enthusiastic, sincere and informed commentary. Special props for explaining and showing the ceramic pins. It’s a major selling point (for keepers and not flippers), but it’s never shown. Again, well done!
Thank you google! 😂 I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I hope it was entertaining and informative. Yeah the ceramic parts in the bracelet are NEVER shown are they? Undoubtedly because the majority of “reviewers” don’t actually own the watch.
That's crazy you sound like me,I felt the same way and gave up a few watches for mines also I couldn't pass up the baguettes in the face mines is a 36 we have the same size wrist, I had to take it while I could get it , congratulations sir
awesome i just got my 40 mm yellow gold with white face ! i need a few exttra links im a bigger guy was worried it would be a lil to small but it lools perfect 😅 on me
Thank you very much! Congrats! There’s something really special about a YG DD that’s hard to capture in words or even in video…coming up it was always the shot caller’s watch …still is.
Help me out please I am looking at a presidential with a meteorite dial in rose gold. what do you think the going price is for this to day. Looking to purchase around April 1st 2021. Any advise that I should look for. I have been dealing with this dealer for a couple years now
Hi, thanks for the comment! I’m assuming you mean secondary market pricing. Okay….I believe the RG with meteorite dial is a 36mm watch because I could not make that combo on the Rolex website; unless you meant the newly released Eisenkiesel dial which is not a meteorite but actually a beautiful stone. At any rate those dials are both beautiful and super rare. The DD40 RG with the Eisenkiesel is literally double the price (or more)of my “entry level” YG silver Romans! I think you’re looking at $80k+ there. The DD36 RG with meteorite is even more than my humble YG40! Probably like $40-50k? It’s crazy how much the premium for RG is but that’s what is hit right now.
This is silver. Sorry the color is so tough to see. It was filmed using a LED light for illumination and I’m seeing that natural light gives a more….natural…appearance. Ahem.
