My wife was gonna buy the AUMark5 for my wedding gift but I asked her to hold off just in case a new version was coming out. I'm so glad I waited. This is a must-have...thanks for the review. Great job 👏
Hi Rob. 2 months ago I got myself a 2014 Q50 Hybrid Sport and just yesterday I installed the Aucar Mark 6. Just wanted to say thanks for the incredible content, detail, and just overall awesome videos that have helped me make my decision. I couldn’t be happier about my upgrade. Keep the content coming!
Finally the wait is over. Just got my mark 6 in hand. Once that shipping starts moving it moves and gets here quick. Installing this week. I want to add the boxing is superior. It’s package for protection and it’s boxed with no room to spare so it does not fly around a larger Box. Great work 👍. Thanks Rob.
Hi Rob, Thanks for making these detailed videos which are awesome. Truly appreciate the effort you put in to this. Got the new MARK6 for my 2019 q50 after watching your videos. Enjoyed installing all by myself for the first time. All thanks to you. your Lighting might be my next project.
@@SquareWheelsAuto Could you make a video on how you routed the 4g antenna's ? In one of your video you showed where you tucked those antennas in but not how you pulled the wires to that spot.
That open bluetooth feature is SICK! I've been hoping for that with the Joying and Teyes radios for my truck build. My plan would be to have the radio control a bunch of the accessories installed which have Bluetooth apps. It will be a big time feature. Some of the accessories that can be controlled by an app in my truck are lighting (blueghozt), my ac system (restomod air) air suspension, gauges (dakota digital hdx), pedal commander, interior switches (switch pros/trigger6), and most importantly my Helix Ultra dsp!
I’m glad I found your video’s, I’m surprised I haven’t come across this yet I ordered q50 and later I plan to add the light and screen . Great quality video and I love the editing
Generally these aftermarket systems have to use a different mic for calls and voice commands. Is that the case with this screen upgrade? or is the system tied to the OEM microphone somehow? My experience is external mics pick up too much road noise and have terrible quality. Plus the issue of finding where to mount it.
There's an optional external mic included, most people install it in the trash. The GSeries has an onboard mic which is commonly mistaken for the OEM mic since sound quality is similar (sample call recording at the very end of this video). Youll also have the option of handling calls through the cars bluetooth if you'd prefer to bypass the unit's onboard mic.
Stumbled onto your page and you’re really making me consider purchasing. I’m tired of the old look in my car and even thought about trading it because it feels so dated. But this THIS is making me re-evaluate life
Extremely well-done video, appreciate the hard work and detail. One question that leaves me on the fence on any of these radios is the glare. Curious about your thoughts while driving if you find it a problem?
Can’t wait for my custom headlight package love channel and appreciate the knowledge you be dropping. Just ordered my tune from Racebox and some Fortune Auto Coilovers. This Mod game is addicting lol
@@SquareWheelsAuto Well said lol way worse addictions I’m stoked for these mods. Just noticed delivery is expected Tomorrow!! Not sure if the Blue Ghost is with it. If not I can’t my friend. Love the content looking forward to data logging with the Mark6 😎!!!
Rob, your video's are so well done. Thank you for all you do, brother. Any updates on whether the open Bluetooth is fully functional yet and by chance does AuCar offer a military discount?
Awesome video, not a fan of the stock q50/q60 dual screen and its features but this is a game changer. May make my switch from G37 over quicker. Can you comment on the sound quality (assuming you have Bose Pro Series) improvement using music streaming (spotify, high bitrate apps) vs streaming direct from phone to stock sound system on BT?
@@edhammel9535 your home screen is a product of the launcher that you use. Try installing and running Nova launcher, it'll allow you to customize the home screen and add widgets and wallpapers and stuff too
I am really considering buying this unit for my q50 but am also really skeptical due to the many issues people have expressed in the main page such as bad CarPlay connectivity, Bluetooth cutting in and out, and some other details. Are these software issues or hardware issues that can’t be fixed? Has anybody else had these problems? How reliable is this product because I honestly would love this in my car
Brother thank you for sharing this video. I'm HEAVILY considering getting this and even installing it myself with ZERO experience just from watching your MK5 video. Quick question tho.. is there any Bluetooth lag or latency with the playback at all?
Hi, amazing video. Did you find that it makes your speakers sound better. I have the Bose system. Will it sound better than it already does? Thank you!
Equal or better. It's basically sending audio over the aux channel so there won't be any big difference in quality. The potential benefit is in the ability to find tune the sound to your liking with the 16 band EQ
System looks 🔥, thanks for the videos. I put in an order on your website a couple days ago... just wondering how long should i expect for the order to ship out?
Works with the car off. It's a 13-in tablet, so running it for a long time will drain your battery eventually, especially if you're running it at full brightness. If you want to use 4G on the device itself, yes you need to get it a plan. Works with all major carriers and is usually about $15 a month. If you don't want to get a plan, you can put your phone in hotspot mode and just connect the Wi-Fi
Yes. Units ship with the latest and greatest software available. When there is an update, I host them on my site and email all SquareWheels customers. I also heard OTA updates are coming soon 😈 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GgDfQS6hOwU.html
I have the Tesla screen in my Q50 and the sound is terrible. I don't remember what to do to make it sound good again. If I remember there is a place you go to switch the sound
Just got mine today. Some questions I have: 1. No need to run the external mic right? I can use my onboard oem mics? 2 . Do you need to keep the top screen in? It looks like it piggybacks off that screen for some reason instead of just jump wrong the harness? Does that screen do some kind of processing? 3. Do people use the lte antennas? Or do they just connect their phone to the screen? 4. Is there a camera on the front left? Or is that a reset button?
1. Correct! If you don't use the included mic, the unit will fall back to the onboard mic. 2. Yes top screen stays in. Refer to my installation video on this channel if you're looking for a guide to complete the installation. I'm pretty sure the DCU is inside the top screen and it's definitely doing processing and passing signals and info to the Tesla unit 3) YES a dedicated data connection is one of the most valuable features of this unit. If you don't want to have a dedicated service for it, you can use your phone as a hotspot and tether it, or worst case scenario use CarPlay or Android Auto. But just my .02 These screens are best used as full Android tablets with their own dedicated data connection 4. Nope, neither. That's the onboard mic. Enjoy man!!!
@@SquareWheelsAuto thanks. My plan was to just simply Bluetooth my iPhone to it and run in CarPlay. My thoughts may change later down the line though as my comfort level rises. I am not an Android fan and my needs are small, so I figured I won’t tinker with the OS much. Million dollar question in which I think I know the answer already. No way to map the voice button on the steering wheel yet for like Siri control I assume?
I just bought a 2018 Infiniti Q50 and it doesn't have Android Auto. I definitely wanna upgrade the infotainment and this Mark6 looks great! I'm a bit new to this space so I'm cautious about buying such a hi-end product. I'm not worried about the price, I'm worried about functionality. Have they worked out all the bugs? Is this a safe buy, or should I go with something that's been out a while?
Thanks for watching! No it won't void your warranty. And the only way they can deny a warranty claim is if they can prove that the radio caused the issue. Check out Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (MMWA) for more details 👍🏾
So I got my MK6 hooked up today, and found some caveats with the 360 cameras and onboard nav if you have it. Some questions I have is can you only access the steering wheel heater back in the OEM intouch app? How do you change the Home Screen to that fancy stuff you have on yours? It looks more useful and flows better. Seems Bluetooth is picky and does not just let you select what device you want to link. I had to shit Bluetooth off on my phone and 10 mins of messing around for hers to eventually link up. Steering wheel controls for skips seems to be reversed from what I can tell. I guess my main hangup is what is onboard yet and what is on this unit.
1. the sooner you ditch your dependency on OEM stuff like nav, the quicker you'll enjoy this as intended - as a FULL android screen in your dash. Pick up Waze and dont look back 2. Yes - steering wheel heater is only accessible via intouch 3. Its a full android tablet, so you can download and run virtually any launcher. I am running Nova launcher (I have Nova prime on all my android devices) - it offers tons of customization flexibility and widgets for apps 4. shoot me an email/video at support@squarewheelsauto.com (include ur order number!) - curious what you're experiencing/how you're connecting bluetooth 5. steering wheel forward/reverse can be changed in user settings 6. repeat #1! only go to onboard/OEM stuff if you really need to!
@@SquareWheelsAuto I don’t want to bug you offline for questions since I bought direct from AUCar. On here I don’t mind since there is revenue being generated for you. I gotta tinker with it more to figure out what all is AUCar overlay Vs Android underlay and intouch underlay. Mirroring from your phone deff adds extra complication, but not sure I can justify $15 extra a month to activate another SIM. This thing things pretty slick though from my initial tinkering. I just want to make the overlay more useful, for when not using CarPlay.
@@SquareWheelsAuto okay, im looking to buy the mk7 in the next month or so. did you have any issues w the mk6? the shop i want to install it has never seen the unit before
@@kxngvamp nope. they did such a great job on the 6 that the next gen ended up being a minor update lol. Having sold & supported literally thousands of these things (for multiple makes and models, too), i've learned most of the issues that pop up are when customers go to "pro installers" who don't follow directions, then blame the "cheap chinese products/all the same/blah blah"
@@SquareWheelsAuto these guys seem pretty confident. they said they had more faith because its not a cheap $300 unit. im just hoping all my OEM integrations work and there isn't any major issues like the screen only working when it feels like it. Great to know you offer support for purchasers, definitely will be purchasing through you.
As good as OEM or better. It sends sound through the Bose AUX, so you still have all of Bose's post processing. All the Bose settings (driver soundstage, etc) are all accessible via InTouch.
Awesome vid bro. You really helped me install my mk6. The only this i couldnt figure out was how to put movies, pics, etc. on the screen. I tried using a hard drive and hooking it up to the 2 usb ports but nothing worked. i couldnt access it on the windows app. havent tried a another hard drive (usb) yet
There should be an app called APKInstaller that lets you reinstall the preloaded apps. For any other apps, you'll need to reinstall from the play store.
OEM Top screen also has the “Satellite” GPS, which is good for when driving in areas there is no cell signal to use the Waze app. Does the Mark 6 have some sort of Satellite GPS system to replace the Satellite GPS the original top screen uses?
Yes it includes its own gps antenna, as well as an adapter that lets you use your OEM antenna if desired. And all the modern nav apps continue to work if you lose cell signal.
Brother, thanks for the video! I have 2 questions for you. 1st. How's the audio quality, clear as OEM? and 2nd. How's the quality of the call? The reason I'm asking is because I installed the non tesla screen Chinese unit, and it's horrible. The audio signal gets transferred to the car by a physical AUX 3.5 JACK cable that you have to connect to the AUX input, and you get a lot of hiss and distortion . Calls are a nother nightmare too. You have to use the microphone that connects to the unit, and no one can hear nor understand you. Even if you upgrade the mike to a Sony microphone, It won't solve the issue.
No complaints on call quality. I actually recorded a short call quality sample at the end of this video. With this unit, you still totally have the ability to use your OEM speakerphone too - you could bypass the tesla screen for calls altogether.
Just a quick question! How much does this unit cost? I have a hybrid q50, do I still retain the info I get for the hybrid system if I go back to the factory screen?
Hello with the mark 6 what happens to the DVD player I see there no slot do you have to add another DVD player or the DVD player still exists and works
Amazing video!!! Couple of quick questions before I buy!! Does it mess with the joystick on the center console/the switch with the drive modes UI? And does it mess with your Sound Settings?
Yep check around 10:32 for OEM control integrations. ru-vid.comMtOzjjUtMGU?feature=share for drive mode selection It sends sound via the AUX channel so it still benefits from all the Bose post processing/center stage etc. Additionally it has a 16 band EQ so you can find tune to your liking 🤘🏾
Great video. Probably going to order in the next few days. One question I did not see answered here or on the Apple CarPlay ‘sheople’ :) video. How do you access Siri? With the after market system I have now it’s pressing the center console button. Can the custom button be set for Siri?
Haha sorry I didn't didn't think to test that but maybe someone here can advise? Also FYI Black Friday deals are running til Monday so if you're in the market, the time is now!!
whoa! I had no idea WE had a mobile app! I just downloaded it to my screen when i saw your comment but havent played with it. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work though! thx for the tip!
@SquareWheelsAuto Mann, I bet it's a game changer! I love the audioorbits 2.3 fractal backgrounds, and I would love to see it in my car during a drive. If WE does end up working for you, can you make a short or reel of your Q50 with it?
Great video! I just received a Mark6 for Christmas and it has been installed. Do you know of a screen protector that is available for this unit? Thanks!
I can't find the refresh rate readout/setting in the menus but it definitely feels more like 60hz on the swipes and animations. If u can show me where to look im happy to validate!!
Great video. I have a question. My InTouch doesn't seem to be working. Launching the app I just get a blank screen at the top. The "Audio", "Home", and "Climate" buttons are there. Did I forget to hook something up?
Hey, i have a mark 6 for my 2017 red sport. But I have no sound or backup camera. I live in Monroe Ga. Can you help me figure out what I did wrong. Thanks
@@daltonmohr9327 Without the GPS adapter, the Mark 5 didn't know your vehicle's location. So you had no way to use any GPS app like Waze or google maps.
It comes with its own gps antenna that works great. The adapter is optional (purchased separately, pretty cheap on eBay if I recall) if you prefer to use your factory antennae for a cleaner install.
Actually, AUCar just mentioned they might be including the adapter now! That'll be a nice touch, we'll see when people start receiving their units next week.
Does the MK6 have a built in mic and speaker like the PX6 fast boot or do you still have to use the wired ones? Looking to make a change, but don't want cords hanging everywhere.
Yeah it's been out for a couple weeks. The units that ship out reportedly won't have the SIM cable, it will be a port on the side of the unit itself. Thanks!!
