Can you upgrade KIWI’s regular strap with a battery pack? Just got my Quest 2 yesterday and the KIWI strap today - love it, but I regret not getting the battery version. Didn’t realize Quest’s battery dies so quick.
YES, Reviews like this are extremely important to those of us who just purchased our first quest2 VR this week, December 2022. It would be nice to know at this point in development, what the absolute best headset and accessories or games might be for the late adopter...
The Bobo series of accessories are just amazing. There are few times I am fully behind a business' products, but with Bobo, whenever something is teased or released, I immediately consider buying them to see what they are like.
I'm a little worried about the weight. You say it wobbles around because of the extra weight in the back. This is exactly why I ditched my Bobovr m2 halo strap for the kiwi strap in the first place.
Thanks, I was waiting for your review before ordering. Bobo swappable battery looks awesome but I'm happy with my Kiwi elite style strap so this is a safe choice for me. Just needed to know they didn't mess up something before buying.
(Coming in a bit late but) I already knew about the Kiwi Design's Battery Head Strap, but I had learned about the BoboVR M2 and the hotswappable battery packs it came with, and as much as I love Kiwi Designs Controller covers (I'll be getting the Extended Grips soon.) I'm one for practicality so when Thrill and you recommended the BoboVR M2 I jumped at the chance to get have a way to swap batteries quickly because that is an amazing feature more companies should be providing.
The batt being nonswappable makes this inferior to Bobo. I have 2 batteries so I can basically almost keep playing. But even if u only have 1 battery, Bobo battery being detachable is better. Sometiems if u forget to charge the Bobo battery, u can still pla your quest and just charge it separately and then just pop it in ard 40 min minutes later.
Logitech G7 (first great wireless gaming mouse) back in 2005 had a similar hot battery system, always hoped more would start using that kind of system.
i can say as soemone who has also personally tried both, the bobovr one (even though i typically dont like halo straps) is unmatched. if not because of the weight distribution, the hot swappable battery is criminally underrated and you will thank yourself time and time again for getting it just to be able to play those games you want to when you want to play them rather than having to wait. my head show for me personally is enough where i tend to wear the bobovr m2 "wrong", but its more confortable. instead of putting the band on my forehead i put it much higher up on my head and tighten it a little more. with a good facial interfac e it doesnt move or slide at all and is super comfortable. never seen anyone use it this way though.
When I charge my strap while it’s plugged in to my headset it barely charges at all? I’ve had it in for an hour my oculus is still dead and the strap isn’t even I slight bit charged
Bought mine at 90$ CAD (it had a 30% off). Their price is way better than the meta elite strap w/battery wich is 180$ CAD. A total no brainer and good pricing in my opinion
@@dovthiessen I'd love to hear your thoughts after you get it. I gave mine to a friend but he doesn't play his quest 2 often enough that it draining the internal battery has been a pain. For an active user it would be much better.
Does it make the weight even, just like the bobovr m2+/pro? Do you have any information on if they will make a Elite Audio Battery Strap, or if you can take the headphones off and put them on a battery strap?
not bad at all and a great alternative the meta elite battery strap. even late in the game it may be fine though as I know the pro/cambria is gonna be real pricey and many will wait for the quest 3 which I dont expect for at least another year. I could be wrong but that is my thoughts
So I tried using the kiwi battery pack yesterday by fully charging it and then today I tried to use it when my oculus was low. It said that it was charging it but the battery on my quest kept going down. What can I do to get the longer game time?
Love the video. Is the M1 plus with battery the same size as the M1 pro with battery? I want to get the plus with battery but I have the original quest 2 case.
Seems good but I just bought a kiwi strap with headphones and putting a bobovr b2 dock on it. I also bought the m2 plus and will use my mantis headphones with it until bobo comes out with theirs. My mantis headphones have seen better days though. Stupid earpads on them are always falling apart.
I got mine the other day, and I've been wondering.. Is it meant to be a struggle to pull the cable out of the headset? I'm scared to pull it hard, incase I break something. Did they maybe send me a wider cable or something
I’ll stick with BoboVR M2. Kiwi should have made combined the headphone and battery strap into one and used swappable batteries. Missed the mark in my opinion.
I use the kiwi strap. Love it. I really don't want to add more wait to my head even as a counter balance. I just run a usb cord from my Q2 down my back and into a battery pack clipped to my belt. You need some slack for bending over so people may not like that but it works great for me. This looks tempting to me but I may hold out for possible black friday/ xmas deal.
I feel you, the original kiwi strap did a great job and if you do hold out maybe... Just maybe they'll combine the two for a kiwi elite audio battery strap which would be killer!
Ive tried them all...a counterweight is the best in terms of comfort for me...and I do 45 minutes of boxing daily in vr. With the counterweight you dont even feel it. Trust me.
@@GogosUTube I still use the VR power battery from my Q1. 10,000mAh 36Whr outputs 5V 3A. With a full charge on headset and battery I don't think I have ever drained them both. I never liked the VR power battery for Q1 because it rests on your head. I velcro it ot my beltloop or put it in my back pocket. I also have a 16,000 mAh battery but It couldn't charge the headset faster than it drained.
i have to stop watching your videos lol i have bought the bobo halo strap. the kiwi elite strap for my wife (who did not like the bobo as she has a small head). i just ordered the kiwi grips yesterday. those are a game changer while playing beat saber and synthriders. i played for a couple of hours today and it feels much better than my elastic band tether hack. i have a rigged up battery pack with some velcro straps and my bobo.....this kiwi strap is looking mighty fine...it will be that or the bobo with the battery. i almost forgot....because of your videos a year ago i went and bought the quest 2 in the first place. i needed a new pc as mine started acting funny after 12 years. i figured why not get into something decent and play some pcvr. it never ends lol
Hey @JayBratt I bought the kiwi elite strap after watching your video on amazon - just received it and after I opened I soon realized that it's not bendable at all, could it be that I got an old version? The package/box looks exactly same as yours in the video (brown, not white) so I thought it's the newest version - but the strap is very very hard if I try to bend it just a little bit I bet it would break Could it be that only the battery version is bendable? I got the normal one without battery
How do you charge the headset. ATM I use a cheap strap that holds an external battery pack. Problem with this is I have to disconnect battery to charge, and sometimes i don't plug it back in fully and wonder why the game dops out after 2 hours (battery wasn't connected). If this can be charged without disconnecting, I'm definitely getting one when it's available on amazon. Thanks for the video.
This has passthrough charging so you can just plug a cable directly into the battery strap and it will charge up both. I mentioned that briefly but I could've went over it more because that is a very useful feature and would prevent charge off
It seems decent, though personally it's price and I want to get a halo or another kind of strap and not a elite strap. Though I'm yet to have another head strap but the stock is starting to get annoying
The Kiwi Elite strap isn't too big so most cases work for it. I'd recommend a couple: Bigger case with room to expand: amzn.to/423ush1 Smaller cheaper case: amzn.to/3ZYdDCj If you prefer over the shoulder: amzn.to/426nOGB
Ugh...seriously...two days ago I ordered the bobovr add on battery dock that you can velcro onto your strap....and Kiwi finally releases their strap...
I still like the bobo, even when demoing on people with smaller head sizes. This is more Stable than the bobo I'd say. It sacrifices a bit on comfort but if they want more stability I'd go with this.
Wait some one pls help me if l leave the battery plugged in to my vr dose it drain the vr battery so l can never lose it a again or dose he mean it just drains the battery so l have to charge it again
@@jaybratt Well.. I expect Quest Pro Price, Release Date, and Pre-Order... BUT... I just don't see many people getting on board for the Price and with all of the upcoming headset options ... and with Quest 3 coming next year.... I also can't see buying a Pro myself as I don't think there would be enough users to recuperate the cost in Etsy/Accessories for it... at least as a home hobbyist...
Great review but the part about the battery didn't really make sense. If you're not using the battery pack, unplug it.... and if you're not gonna be using your Quest, power it off......
Those are both good options to make it work but Quest owners I know personally just don't do those two things. Leaving it on in standby mode with the battery pack always plugged in is the default for many people :(
I am never going to get rid of my quest 2 until they drop support for it. I can just upgrade it with accessories to match any of the pro's and 3's capabilities
@@jaybratt Ohh so there is an issue with it good to know i don't wanna spend lots of money got hit by a car on friday so now i'm home away from work so looking for something that i can play longer thanks Jay
Just brought mine for 57euros. Had the bobo vr m2 and the plastic arm cracked after a few months. I complained to bobo and they told me I hadn't got it from a registered dealer so they wouldn't send me another one . Second strap I bought from bobo..I'm going to try kiwi and fingers crossed I'll be way happier .
:) aren't they great? Here: www.etsy.com/shop/MrTass3DPrintShop Code JAYBRATT will still get you 10% off (I THINK). Lots of the cool stuff in my studio is from here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NnttEBMhFvc.html
The Kiwi strap is trash (in my opinion) and heres why: 1. The top strap is essentially useless. It doesn't pull the headset up to your eyes, it pulls the backstrap off and up. 2. The backstrap is really stupid, it is supposed to wrap around the curve of your skull, but it doesnt really allow you to look up and down without it moving and becoming uncomfortable. 3. Its just generally low quality, the side plastic never stays in place, and almost always moves on your face as you play. 4. If you look down, you have to squint your eyes to actually keep it in place, otherwise next time you look upwards it will be lower than your eyes, causing distortion. But heres some good things: 1. Its comfortable most of the time, if you keep it really really tight. 2. Its better than the regular trash quest 2 strap. 3. There is no third thing in my experience. The BOBOVR M2 Pro is beyond better. Especially for the price of the Kiwi.
I'm definitely staying BoboVR myself. I gotta say I love how a Pro in this list is it's better than the "trash quest 2 strap" LOL. So true and it's sad that's a point we can make. Also I can't believe the Quest 3 leaks have that same strap... please Oculus NO!!!!
I was literally only watching this video to see how long the fucking battery last and I never once heard him mention how long it last at all that’s like the biggest thing about a freaking head strap if you wanna know how long it’s gonna last if it’s got a battery pack
I did not realized I missed mentioning that, sorry Tobi. 6400 mah. 3.5-5 hours depending on what settings you're using. Brightness, frame rate, whether a game is online or not can all affect this. Also of course the fact I mentioned this WILL DRAIN your battery if you leave it plugged in will worsen that time if it has then drained your battery and now you need it to charge your Quest simultaneously just to play it.
@@jaybratt Thank you but yeah I watched the whole video and maybe I somehow missed it but I never heard of battery time in this was like the fourth video I had watched trying to find that thank you for the information much appreciated I was just double checking everything because I wanted to ask for one for Christmas and want to make sure I get the best deal you know lmao
I don't understand why they made an audio strap without battery and a battery strap without audio... Make an audio strap with battery and everyone will buy it!!!
Right... Nope! BoboVR Blows Kiwi out of the water all day every day... Only thing Kiwi still has a niche on is Controller Grips... which I do love the Extended Ones.
I'm interested in why you'd like to see Bobo gone? They've had some big innovations in the industry, although I know many are loyal to Kiwi because they've been around so long. I'd love to hear more jorge :)
@@jaybratt generally bobo headset are CHUNKY there huge and you cant put them in many spots and many people buy bobo because there battery strap i told many people kiwi (for me) was better and they said they rather buy bobovr because the battery strap now more people will come to kiwi so more buyers will come to kiwi instead of bobo. for me halo straps are so uncomfortable recently and sadly my friend got a PSVR and i tried it on the strap hurt hurt hurt, kiwi is simple its like the official strap but not made by home depot so yeah that's all.
They're still my go to and I won't be swapping for this but there is a crowd that loves these so I think they'll do decent. Would've done better three months ago though
