It should, but it depends on the Mom and Daughter. Unfortunately some mom and daughters have seriously frictions, I have 5 , and my oldest daughter and I have the most friction . She also has it with my husband! She believes that I don’t like her , I love her but I don’t like all of her actions. Respect is a priority of mine!

Your mother spoke about not showing to much emotions with her kids. I’m from a Caribbean background I have struggled with not showing enough emotions with my daughter and I agree this comes from previous generations where our grandparents had so many kids and didn’t have the time for it. It was automatically passed on. I’m trying to fix this with my only daughter because she brought up this topic a few months ago. Lexi your mom is Awesome. I understand you're mom's up bringing because it sounds so much like how my grandmother was. Which was passed on to my mom and aunts and uncles. They were not affectionate at all. They didn't say "I love you" but you felt the love and knew you were loved, that was never a question. . So I wanted to be sure to break that cycle when I had kids to always "SAY" I LOVE YOU to them and take the time and let them express themselves. We couldn't coming up. And always be respectful to your elders so it was good hearing her talk about those familiar upbringings. I think black families pass that down through the Generations. But I'm ever so grateful for my upbringing. God first than Family. Because if God's the Head then every footsteps will follow HIM. ITS ORDER BY GOD.

Wow! You're mom is like an older version of me in so many ways. One major thing that I can agree with her on is the fact that showing affection is a struggle for me as a mom. When my daughter was a baby it wasn't so much, but now that she's older it's something I truly have to work at. My mom wasn't very affectionate with me and my grandmother wasn't to her either so it wasn't even a thought until I had a kid who is overly affectionate. Definitely an adjustment. Great video.

The advice that your mom would give you is exactly what I'm dealing with today. I don't speak up for myself and it has caused me to be in some unfavorable situations. I appreciate her for saying that because hearing it makes me realize that I have to know who I am. What I believe and what I'm not willing to put up with in every situation in life.
