Was gonna ask if you replaced the ring and pinion gears. I’ve never been in an 86 with a gts rear end that hasn’t made noise. I even had a driveline shop professionally rebuild one. New bearings gears and seals and it still whined… Was hoping you had better luck than me!
@@MarcusMatthews-l4p yeah that is what scares me man, same happened with David. My coupe and sons coupe are both completely quiet . Worried I’ll throw tons of money at it and never make it quiet
@alexander_ford_ based on how long it struggled in that video with the 25 ton, I doubt my 12 ton press would have done it. It's nice to have friends like that!
So much work man! I didn't want to mess with my diff so I brought my third member to a local race prep shop to rebuild, @ramseyraceprep in Houston. Basically almost replaced everything kaaz 1.5, weir 4.3 gear set, weir solid pinion spacer, and koyo bearings/seal. I would def recommend the weir 4.3 ring and pinion (around $400 shipped)... mine was sorta worn and it was making a bit of noise... but after replacing, its definitely more quiet and oddly enough the car doesn't vibrate as much over 70mph.
@@DanhPhan thanks for the info man! Do you still have rear end noise ? You said “more quiet” also did you have anything checked with 4 link to adjust pinion angle or was the rebuild all it took ? Good to know on the weir stuff I was kinda hesitant on that vs oem and the price almost doubles with Toyota stuff
@@alexander_ford_ my 4-link was dialed in for pinion angle before the diff rebuild. it's definitely quieter than before... there was a little whine. i've also replaced the axles with panic ones as well... so check your axle bearings too. most guys i know go the weir route for a bulletproof rear end... but not many drive their ae86s daily.
