Awesome! This is something that some of us from the FPV drone community have been wanting. I have forwarded a link for your video to those in charge, and surely this should make the FPV News, as I wish this product into existence and wish you success and all of the best. Happy Birthday man!
A while back I poset that Iwas not able to find one of these. I have since deleted that post. I have one from progressive rc. I have tested it on an older CADDX Vista and it seems to work fine. I used the PWM switch mode. When I put the PWM output to HI the O3 Armer powers on the CADDX Vista. When I set the PWM signal to LOW it power the CADDIX Vista off. Thanks for a great product.
Thanks for the feedback! We actually removed the trace for the center (5v) pin on the PWM input side, just in case someone wasn’t aware. Thanks for getting this from PRC. I still have not set up a website as running that on top of my 2 other jobs would be insane for me right now haha. Thanks again and let me know if anything ever comes up!
Great job to the team for bringing this to the public. I managed the Arduino route to arm the o3 on my RC. The thing you forgot to mention is the Arduino route requires no more than 5v input. So most rc builds will have to supply a UBEC to supply that 5v to the Arduino to arm the o3. I was not going to take a channel from my receiver for that input, even if it was 5v. This further makes your product more desirable, to not have the additional UBEC onboard. 👏 👏 👏
Grabbed 3 of em! Thanks Chad & MT 🫡 For anyone wanting to run O3 unit’s on RC’s… these Rev3 Arming unit are a MUST! Happy birthday brother -Kfromthefuture 😎
Happy bday dude! I think your taking the right approach with this. Should be a popular unit, great idea having the fan power on the board and the arming switch 👍
Is there something wrong with their website recently? Every page just keeps reloading every 3 seconds. You can't even use it to place an order as everything gets cleared when you checkout an order.
Thank you! We definitely considered it, but since RadioMaster has a ground remote with ELRS already built in we figured nobody would want to use an air remote. But maybe I’m wrong!?
@@ChaddRainsFPV hehehe well for the right price everything is possible, not sure how much more would be vs the armer to have like 4 channel output on the same thing
Hey Chadd! Glad to find a product that will help with FPV planes for me. I sent an email a week(ish) ago to you, but I can totally wait until GetFPV or ProgressiveRC gets it in stock. Are they about the same price as what you are selling it for?
Hey John! Yup! They will be the same price. I will get a little more free time in the coming weeks and will have them for sale directly, but the two shops that have committed are actually two of my most trusted, so I totally recommend them 🤙
Email sent. Need a few of these. Been poking around to add this to an rc rock crawler, as Ive seen a few videos, but mainly for an RC lawnmower I built. Least I could do one part of the job sitting down in the shade, or better yet in the AC.
Hey right on Happy Birthday!! This should work for walksnail too, but it won’t have the correct wire harness compatibility, so you’ll have to wire something up. But it should unlock the VTX as it uses the same MSP signal and it should overlay your voltage too! Forgot to mention it has some OSD in the video lol
Awesome bro! I like the on/off feature. Richard Amiss is sort of the unknown hero IMO who has kept some of us going so he is much appreciated, but there is still a large crowd out there I bet who would just rather not deal with a fragile microcontroller board like arduino or seeeduino. I feel like they would happily pay for plug and play. There are some caveats that make the arduino route a little more difficult such as proper supply voltage based on BEC output.
100%. I wanted to drop some info on Richard’s Arduino project since it got my O3 working back when the only other option was to mess with an FC, which always messed up braking with my car even if I did full pass through. I’ve never talked with Richard but I’ll try to find him and reach out now I know a bit more about him. Thanks for dropping by bro 🙏
@@ChaddRainsFPV That would be awesome. I'm a little curious what kind of rigs he has going on. I hope DJI has been paying attention to some of this ground stuff at least.. I mean I wonder if they release an O4 AU would they try to make it easier to 'arm' it or would they actually make it more difficult. If they make it more difficult, we will need guys like Richard on the team lol.
@@Magneticitist I doubt it will be different as far as arming goes. At the end of the day, the MSP signal that betaflight sends to arm these units is all we’re sending. Any chip that can send that signal can be adapted to work (flight controller, Arduino or the O3 Armer). It would be a bad move by DJI to release a new occusync system and not have the air units compatible with betaflight, so we should be fine 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV Ah that's a good point. You know I've never even scoped what the signal is so I might be making it out to be more complicated than it needs to be. Honestly they could require the O4 be armed by punching myself in the face and I'd still probably be cool with that.
@@Magneticitist Hahahha same brother 😂 I hate to admit it (cuz I was a real DJI hater for YEARS back in the day) but there’s no arguing that their performance is amazing.
My thoughts for your first custom product would be custom FPVRC cars that you charge righteously for and have been promoting over the years but you choose a chip.
They’ve been available but you have to reach out 🤙 I just can’t bring myself to call a modded Losi Lasernut “my product”, ya know? I’ll be doing PNP kits next. And maybe, if I work had and things go my way, I can find a way to do RTR FPV RCs 👍
I tried using arduino but when I updated the code it reported many errors and could not be used. can you send me the complete code? I am using XIAO ESP32C3. Thanks!
I need help please,,,,, I got the tbs crossfire, 2 fans, rc8x, inflight hd patch, DJI o3 air unit, and DJI V2 goggles. Plus I’m fixing to buy your o3 air unit armer. Am I missing anything? Or do I have something I don’t need? I’m making my kraton s6 a “fpv” long range setup. I think.
That’s a good setup! I’ll have more O3 Armers available in the near future and that’s really the only thing you’d need to get this going, besides good mounts 🤙
If you can afford an O3, you can also afford a Matek or Speedybee FC. Especially since the Speedy Bee Wing Mini FC only costs $35. On top of that, it has full telemetry, Inav, and an ingenious OSD.
The O3 Armer has battery voltage OSD, I forgot to mention. But yeah, for all the peeps that don’t want to solder or spend a few hours configuring, this is a plug n play option 🤙
A flight controller is better for some people, but not everyone. I use INAV in multiple planes and would have no problem setting it up in another. However, I have spoken with others on forums and Discord channels that refuse to use them for various reasons. This would give them a plug and play solution. Furthermore, I've seen people using FPV on ground vehicles, while there are controllers for those, many times a control board would be overkill when a simple plug & play solution like this would be much better for their use.
There's a thing we call "friction". It's what slows a thing down. I tried the links for the thing because I kinda want one. None of them got the thing done - 03 with amazon, etc. but no thing. Suggestion: just make it easy, no friction, one click. Also, don't justify. If it's good, people will find you. FWIW, I wanted to just put one in my current RC car. I was thinking maybe it was portable, to put in any car. Aaaannnways, seems like a product with promise.
nice product , will be mounting on a small plane .. for a flight time of 20 mins max what size seperate battery should I use to power the 03 armer /DJI 03? 2s 250 mah? or Bigger 500 mah or can i use the flight battery balance tap and power the O3 via XSTH-XT30 adapter? will it cause any RF interference?
Thanks! If you’re powering your plane from a 2s or 3s you can totally power from the flight pack’s balance lead. It won’t interfere at all with the RF side of things. You can technically use a 4s, but it’s kind of necessary to add a 25v 470uf capacitor if you do that. It will draw about 30w to power the O3 air unit, Armer and fan, so a 2s 250mah may be a bit too small for a 20min flight time.
It will! But you’ll need to make the wire harness for them as they don’t come with the correct one for the O3 Armer. Also, you won’t need the armed signal for those models unless you’re using Goggles2 or Integras with them, as the ‘disable thermal protection’ actually allows full power on the older firmware that the original air unit and vista use. Hope this helps! 🤙
I spoke to u a while back about not able to get full power from my vista unit I installed. Still couldn’t get out past 25 watts by turning of temp setting control. So I gave up on FPV for rc. Hoped this new device would be the solution.
@@lf5133 I think I remember! You also need to do the HAM hack or the FCC hack, if you’re not seeing the option to go past 25mw. Mad’d Tech has a great video on it, you just have to look at the correct one for your set of goggles 🤙
Will the O3 work with Fatshark Dominator goggles? I've been watching your videos trying to find out what will work best with what I already have. But I'm going to buy the MT12 & the O3 air unit if it will work with my goggles. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! I had to sub to your channel, because so far, you've made the best sense, Love your videos!!!
Thank you! Bad news about the goggles though, DJI O3 is only compatible with a few DJI goggles. No other brands at all. Just the DJI Goggles v2, Integra, Goggles2 and Goggles3 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV I appreciate it Buddy!! I ask 100 different ways, and never could get an absolute answer. I think I have watched every one of your videos, still a little fuzzy on what I should actually get. If I have to , I'll watch yours 100 more times until it clicks!!! Thanks.
The fan connector will output 5v. That was the easiest regulator to run since the O3 can run at 2s voltage, so the fan output had to be lower than ~6.6v. 12v would be nice but the regulator circuit would be big and more expensive 🤙
I’ll check for your email! My first batch sold out and I can’t take more orders until we have our next batch en route. Appreciate you dropping a comment 🙏
The o3 Air unit picture quality is so good! My new build is done now: Made a version 2 of the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aNqdpr1u8uM.htmlsi=r_7621SOe0Ho9cpr
@ChaddRainsFPV i managed to get the same range as the original Air unit. But not exceeding on the streets or forest. Got the best gears from TrueRc and antenna. The only thing unsure is how to set up the antenna properly.
Thank you for making this. Will you still have few of those until September? I’ve been wanting to get the Goggles2 and the o3 camera for my RC buggy, but this was my very problem. The battery wiring.
Yup, battery wiring and sending the arming signal catches a lot of peeps. And for sure, I actually got a few stores carrying these in the next week or so. Will make a new video here real soon going over the changes and who’s all gonna carry 🤙
It’s already has one built in, kind of. You can add a channel from your radio to the 3 pin holes on the Armer, and toggle the O3 on and off from your radio. But there will still be a small draw from the Armer that will drain your battery. So you can add a switch as long as it’s rated to at least 3 amps (preferably at least 5 amps, but 3 amps is the technical limit).
Super cool product dude. It will let people to get into FPV boats/cars soo much easier. In the future will you be able to integrate the GPS/OSD with speed into it? I'm actually building a new FPV car with the 1/6 Losi Super Rock Rey (40% off right now). I am wondering if I should just move my Air unit with FC into the new car, or swap everything but with the O3 unit. Question: Do you feel that O3 unit will have a better range in the suburbans with houses and trees in the way vs the old air unit? Wondering if it's worth it to buy a O3 unit, and spend time updating beta flight and linking everything together.
Whatsup bro!? Good to hear from ya! There are some pads on the O3 Armers left out that we could possibly do GPS data in at some point. The OSD is limited to voltage atm. The O3 is hands down the best system out right now and it allows me an extra full block of range (and there are a lot of houses / trees in one city block in my area). So that’s a huge improvement over the OG Air Unit. Let me know if you have any questions on it! Hope I see you build somethin! haha 🤙
@ChaddRainsFPV wow a full block of range eh? That is amazing man. Ok ordered the o3 and starting the build now. The rooting with the o3 unit will be a pain. Btw any suggestion for the o3 unit antenna?
@@thelawfamilyproduction329 Yeah, I know you can do it though. I'm torn on using an O3 Armer for my next Best Build, or an FC. Doing an FC is such a pain but it is nice to have GPS.. On the note about antennas, it actually depends on your goggles now. If you have DJI V2 Goggles with LHCP antennas, it's best to put LHCP on the O3. But if you have Goggles 2 or the Integra it's best to leave the stock antenna on the O3 since they're all linearly polarized (crazy I know). I still need to do more testing on the V2 antenna set up though lol
@ChaddRainsFPV agreed. FC are sooo much work, but nice to have gps and speedometer. Originally, I wanted to do the SC6x large crawler. But it was too expensive and a bit slow. It would be super cool to crawl everywhere with a 3 foot RC car with FPV. I am still using the fpv googles v2.
@@ChaddRainsFPV any good LHCP antenna for the O3? Would it work if I used the old two LHCP antenna? I see the o3 comes from 2 sources, then combines into a single antenna.
Hey Luke, I’ll reply as soon as I get shipping confirmation on the next order. Taking back orders was too stressful last time so I’ll begin taking order right when I have a firm ETA 🤙
I’ll be sending a bunch to FPV24 here soon. I need to get the next batch ready and I’ll get their invoice sent over. I don’t know any EU dealers besides them and I only just found out about them. I’d love to have these stocked better in EU 👍
@@ChaddRainsFPV thanks for the quick reply. fpv24 is good and even just a few kilometers from my home. Alternative large FPV and RC shops include "Lindinger", "Rc- Hangar 15", "Premium Modellbau" or "Rctech".
There is an email in the description. Just send me an email and ask for how to pre-order and I’ll respond asap! Looks like we’re about 3 weeks from our next shipment!
It technically works but you need the JST-SH connector on it with the same wiring as the O3. And you only really need that “arm signal” on a vista or OG AU if you have them bound to goggles 2 or Integra. If they’re on the old fw you can fully unlock them w/o the signal
I can’t see why not! The MSP signal that betaflight sends to arm these systems is what our product sends. You’d have to make a custom wire harness for sure tho 🤙
Hey, yup I've seen Cloud RCs system. It has a bit too much latency for the things I like to do. I believe their max speed is around 10-15mph, because the video is being sent over the internet, instead of directly to an FPV receiver (like in my DJI goggles). Hopefully that makes sense. Let me know what kind of questions you have and I'll do my best to help. I don't have a discord server at this time but I do also try to answer questions on FB groups FPV RC Cars 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV so first of all thank you for answering! so i got myself a 3d printer and know basic car knowledge, so i want to build an offroad vehicle with a cison L4 engine, i know pretty much nothing about electronics tho, would you be kind enough to tell me how a basic setup works or if there are plug and play solutions without programming?
I have a couple videos coming out shortly that explain the basics way better than my previous videos. I promise I’ll make it easy to understand FPV in those videos, but for the meantime I have a few really good videos already up on my channel and each one has links to tons of resources in the description 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV ah okok I'm gonna wait until you upload it, it's ok for me to wait it 50 Hours project is insane dayum for a video btw I'll wait it heheh thanks for notice
It’s just back ordered at the moment. Got a lot going on with the latest batch of O3 Armers. I will respond to everyone once this latest batch ships. It’s hard to keep track of things when I don’t have a “store” / website. So I can only reply once I have everyone from the last batch taken care of. *Also, a few shops will have these in stock pretty soon too. It’s just a slow process, getting this product to the point where it’s easily available, like the big manufacturers 🤙
I do not recommend buying this product!!! I placed an order and he responded, I can't send it because the product has flaws and signature problems, and he never sent it, BAD SHOPPING EXPERIENCE...
For everyone reading, we did have a batch that didn’t show the correct voltage in the OSD. Instead of shipping a product with issues I scrapped the entire batch and offered to send everyone an updated version or they could cancel. I’ve also provided information on how to make these at home, for everybody. Stay awesome everybody 🤙
