Map for Free with a DJI Mini 3 Pro! 

Map pilot Pro isn't compatible with my phone, and it seems that a paid subscription is necessary to use more than 20 frames. Oh well 🙄

They won't because if they do....no one will buy the M3E....anyways, I've emailed dji and they've said that they won't be releasing any more sdk for consumer drones after the Mini 3 series

as someone who has used the free version of WebODM, the installation and initial setup of the free version is a bit of a headache but once it is properly set up it becomes pretty easy to use. If needed there are walkthroughs of the install and setup process, as well as the way to use the program, that can be found on RU-vid.

RC Pro. You can use an Android Phone as well, or manually fly the pattern to record the footage.

If it does, I haven't been able to figure that out yet. I have an Air 3 and DJI hasn't released the SDK ability.

@@Ace33W dang, as much as I love the RC1 on my mini that might be enough to push towards the phone controller- except I have an iPhone so am out of luck on that end too 😭 😂

RC-2 or RC-N2, it doesn't matter. None of the current DJI drones, whether Mini, Air, or Mavic, support mapping. Video title is a complete fabrication, and totally incorrect. LITERAL clickbait.

@@brennan2007 The software still works on images you collect from those aircraft, you just need to collect the images manually or with waypoints.

@@fpgonz You can't use the app to collect the data via a Mavic 3. There's no SDK to allow third-party apps to control the aircraft. You need to manually collect the images and you can process it with this software.

No. You can only map on older equipment and specific models of drones. The current DJI consumer drones are not capable of mapping, and the RC-2 isn't capable of supporting mapping software. No consumer drones currently being sold support mapping. This is the dumbest and most misleading title I've ever seen on a video. Mini 2 SE, Mini 4k, Mini 4 Pro, Air 3, Mavic 3 Classic, Mavic 3 Pro, Mavic 3 Cine... none of them have mapping capabilities built in.

Unless cost is not a concern for you, get a RC N1. Much cheaper, but you to connect to an android phone. You can get a n1 used for $50-$100

Hi sunshine, I use Map Pilot Pro and WebODM with my DJI Mini 3. The Mini 3 has a longer flight time that minimizes changing batteries for large areas. I's about time someone showed that mapping can be done for the cheap.

Sucks that the RC controller can't do this.... $900 for the RC pro.... So you do kind of have to spend some money, because I don't think most people with a mini 3 pro have a RC pro controller. Or buy a new phone.

Regular old photogrammetry with a GPS fix of like the 15 satellites necessary to fly well means that you can get down to around 6 foot accuracy without correction. But yeah for any sort of real measurement you need GCPs IDK why they are mentioning area and volume from these WebODM orthophotos

Well, you need a drone too… and you can use your phone instead of a $1200 controller. But at point you need to buy something to do something.

You can map with any drone. Mapping consists of taking photos and using software to put them together. If your drone is not supported by automated capture software, you just need to manually fly the pattern that we show in the video. Everything else as far as processing in the video would still apply. And yes, even a Walmart drone. Although we don’t recommend that.

​@PilotInstitute yes, but it requires timing and accuracy between speed and photo intervals. Can you just do it manually? Technically. It's not optimal at all, annoying, and easy to mess up. You could have at least mentioned the workaround for modifying and replacing waypoint files through an outside program in order to make the drone do an automated map. You KNOW the way the title of the video will be interpereted, and did that on purpose for clicks and ad revenue. That's like having a video saying "how to generate professional images with ANY phone" but actually only works on a specific model of phone. But you say "no, you can use your phone to call a graphic designer and then guide them through the design process over the phone". So, technically yes, but ACTUALLY no... not at all. You know that people are desperately wanting to map with current gen DJI drones, and you're exploiting that fact in a deceptive way with this video, ESPECIALLY with the title. Not matter what you say, or how you try and justify it, your video IS deceptive and misleading. Not only did you say "any" but doubled down by saying "ANY" as to reiterate it's truly ANY drone.

Well and the drone. You need to spend money on the drone, to map with a drone. And you don’t need a fancy controller. You can fly by hand and process the data afterwards.
