It makes sense to bring doing A/C lines in house, save a lot of time and adds a new stream of revenue, especially if you purchase a gas machine! Great episode and thanks for sharing!

I enjoyed the hell out of this series. You're damn right about being more choosey about taking on projects 😂 I won't take on something pulled apart unless I'm provided with a spare now. Lack of interest in that.

Congrats on the completion guys. Barely recognised Rex all groomed and clean shaven. Time to give those keys back to the lucky owner. Nice work with the AC lines.

Yeah, what is it with the big 4x4s being such a pain to get sorted? 🤣 Not bad numbers at all, seeing as the turbo is both too old and too small for the application. It would be nice to see the truck come back for a new tune with a proper turbo/manifold setup. Still, 290 at the wheels is much better than 95% of the cars on the roads, so it's no slouch by any stretch, I'm sure. 😎

Might be a dumb question but can u turbo a petrol 80 series?

I'm pretty sure that's what this video is about mate, its in the title "Turbo 1FZ-FE 80 Series Build", FZ-FE is the petrol variant.

Yeh once we get our 80 series sorted out again I want to organised an OnSong Performance beach day and get all the 4x4's we've built or tuned out on the sand for a day. Would make for an awesome video.

A lot of power, though the results felt underwhelming. (Holly shit that's a lot of Nms! 500 ft lb = 677.9 Nm 😳👀🤯) Especially as an old-school diesel fan, I was expecting a lot more. But the way its setup should be very good and reliable for touring. Also very quiet, which was unexpected.
@BoostGumps

Yeh ultimately just limited by the turbo. With a new hotside there is much more potential for the combo. The customer is currently upgrading to a 6boost and decent turbo atm!

I understand its a big cube motor and turbo in a big also owned a turbo 1fz but any reason why they average 27l per 100 compared to say a barra powered 80 averaging around L per 100. Is it something to do with toyota tuning or does Toyota run mafless or something different and doesn't trim fuels when cruising etc. Is it possible to get better fuel economy in a 1fz with normal driving.
@jamieknight9636
@jamieknight9636 2 года назад
Yeah good question, I've got a 1fz 105 and been looking at fuel usage and fitted a afr meter. It shows the factory setup runs rich most of the time . How many Lt/100 does a barra swapped cruiser use ?
@aaronnoyb
@aaronnoyb 2 года назад
@@jamieknight9636 Can't help with Barra numbers, but... My 2550kg 80 series manual, with a coil pack 105 series, turbo(GT3076R) 1FZ-FE, does 17-20 l/100k's local/hwy driving normalish, 30plus driving hard or bush use and 24 towing a 2500kg boat. Pre turbo, the original 80 1FZ-FE, did constant 20-22l/100k's, pretty much regardless of how it was driven. My 80 comfortably beats a mates Barra GU, even though he makes 60 more rwkws, the power band on mine is way bigger. Sorry, I don't know his fuel figures.

@aaronnoyb
@aaronnoyb 2 года назад
@@jamieknight9636 I'm running a Wolf V550, to do it again today, I'd probably go with Haltech or Holley. I went Wolf at the time, because it allowed for the possibility of controlling a Landcruiser or GM auto, if I decided to go auto, at the time the Haltech/Holley didn't support that. Wolf also had the only plug in loom, at the time. Haltech/Holley provide better integration into add ons, like displays and there's many more tuners available, familiar with their systems. Finally, mates with Haltechs on their turbo setups, not 1FZ's, have got a far more stable idle than any tuner has achieved on my Wolf setup, mine constantly hunts by about 150 rpm at idle once it's warm. If you're going to go down this path, find out what systems the respected tuners near you support and go with that.
