It looks amazing. Can’t wait to see the next phase! If you really can’t stand the Costco bin color, you could spray paint the lids with sage green spray paint and use large white labels on the bottom and it would work with your brand colors. A winter project for when it’s not so busy.
Push the garage style doors open from the center after you initially open them. They will slide open more easily. I suggest planning for a d.i.y. epoxy floor finish. You know, the kind with little non -slip conferti pieces tossed on? Super durable, easy cleaning, and super good looking. Also, whatever happened with the "barn" kittens??
Brilliant idea. Before we formally moved into our house, we had a professional do the epoxy flooring in the garage. I was surprised that the cost was fairly reasonable at $1500. So worth every penny it looks beautiful three years later.
Embrace the black and yellow by painting the table black with (maybe toned down a bit, yellow legs) and figure out a few more places to add some yellow and black. That way it looks intentional instead of an eyesore. You also could find a few places to add your signature green paint. The workshop is going to be awesome!
It never ceases to amaze me how much paint can change the feel of a space. Looks totally different. If it's in the budget painting the floor would be a great idea.
Such a good feeling! I love when everything has a place! I also love seeing how you embrace the imperfections of color of tubs and affordability of storage solutions.
Not much motivates me more to organize than watching other people do it, so thank you Janey!! I’m now planning out what to tackle in my home and work spaces! ❤ Your workshop is so exciting!! 🎉❤😊
I’d add some fun yellow decor or other yellow things for pops like pictures of sunflowers and bee decor or a fun bright yellow light fixture and then it makes yellow and black and white a fun color statement!
Looks fantastic and bright. The only thing I was thinking was insulation in walls under lining and ceiling would make it cool in summer and warmer in winter.. great job though
I agree with embracing the black and yellow with a “Bee Theme”…it would “bee” so charming adding black accents on the metal table, shelving, etc. Maybe paint a bee buzzing around the top of your walls in a couple of high visible areas? The possibilities are endless!
It’s going to be so awesome to have everything organized! Maybe a new side door that has a window? You can get them cheap from a salvage yard. Evan that little bit of natural light would be nice.
I love it. I did that to my garage a few years ago but I insulated with rock wool first and then added the plywood and painted. It transforms a garage completely.
The metal workshop turned out so good! What a difference that paint can make. Maybe Andrew the painter can just paint the lids of your Costco containers black.. ❤
Looking amazing!! How exciting! I would soooo love to do the same thing to our garage! To hide your totes and keep them a bit dust free, unlined canvas drop cloths make great curtains! And adding casters to the bench, and a little spray paint could also help you complete the look you are going for 😊
It's going to look great! To free up even more space, have you considered storage pallets on pulleys. You could store seasonal things that you don't use often up in the rafters.
Well good morning janey jason and monty. Boy have you guys got a job to do. You have been realistic about the work ahead of you. Thankful you have someone to come in and do the painting looks fantastic. As always monty is on the job, Sweet sweet boy. Have a Blessed day, the Oklahoma gardener.😊
I was going to comment the same thing. Painting the floor and metal table would really make it look fresh and finished. I enjoyed watching the transformation.
Janie and Jason, it looks amazing, cant wait to see everything painted. Thats going to look great. Love y'all and your channel. Everything you and Jason and the girls do looks so beautiful ❤❤❤❤
I wonder if some sort of decorative labels would make the black and yellow bins look nicer. Also, I recommend adding a retractable power cord system on the ceiling over your wood working table!
It looks great. In my shop we have a retractable extension cord that hangs from the ceiling. I love it. When you are done a little tug and the cord winds up into its case. Also if you get into woodworking you will need a compressor for air tools and there is a retractable case for air hose as well. One of my compressors doesn’t have one yet and it is always a pain to untangling the hose. Also invest in a couple of saw horses. They make cutting with a circular saw a lot easier.
You know you might want to get some corner protectors for your metal table. Maybe it just me but I constantly run into corners when I’m busy and those would really hurt😅. Oh!! The shop looks great!!!
Looks great…there’s kits you can purchase at Lowe’s or any big box store to paint your garage floor…that will complete the look! I put it down on my garage and what a transformation it made!
Janey. I replaced my strip lights with LEDs. Such a huge difference. Like solar on steroids. Love the paint job. Forgot to mention. I had an electrician put in overhead light sockets and more plugs for battery charge station and tools [maybe expand power station]. You'll be happier to have it done & dusted.
Hi Janey, Just a thought for the look of your black plastic storage tubs. When you really can't stand the color any longer and you are not put off by the time and cost of another project👩🔧, counter top grade contact paper would dress up the tubs. It might even work for the lids? 🤔See of course Amazon.👍😊
Love the new look! Bright and Cheerful. Suggestions more for aesthetics - Cool white light fluorescent tube lightening to avoid a yellow cast when working in winter darkness as this allows for a clearer appearance to what ever task you’re working on. The Costco bins can be spray painted with Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover Satin in what ever Colour you like! This is where “Form meets Function” as you have aptly stated! ❤
That turned out great! As a finishing touch maybe do the floors with epoxy or paint, and paint the bins. If the metal table doesnt have rounded or protective edging, I believe you need to do something about that, those suckers can leave a big gash in you. A windowed door would be great. I am sure fans would be wonderful. These are just ideas and suggestions... You, Jason, and Andrew rocked that project! One big ✔ Thanks for sharing this with us. 😊
😮 Looks great and painting the interior white made a brighter space to work in! Hope Jason won with the guys! You both worked great as a team! Can you come to Florida and do mine next?! Kidding 😅.
Looks great! The only thing I would have done differently, would have been to insulate even if it’s just the walls before covering them. Then later you can do spray insulation for the roof later. Love it! Hugs from Texas!
Looks great! If you decide to paint the floor, be careful of the type of paint you use. It could be slippery, especially when it gets wet or when you have moisture on your footwear. The white paint was a great choice. Good job!
Looks great, you all didn't insulate it would keep it cooler in the summer somewhat, and a little warmer in the winter just saying. I agree with painting the floor and your work table. Thanks Janie for sharing can't wait for the results . Have a wonderful rest of the day and weekend. 🙂🖌👋👍
Wow, the magic of paint!! It all looks great, Janey, and now I’m motivated to attack my garage again. :) also… regarding your wish for a window, you might look into a door with a nice window on the top half (for the “people” door), and maybe paint the interior side of that door with your signature sage green :)
Great job! I know you're already probably putting stuff back in, But the OCD in me would have tackled painting/epoxying the floor - because the chance of ever having that space completely cleaned out again is slim and none
Looks so clean and bright 👌 Are you going to do the flooring too? If so, have a look at micro cement finishes, they come in all colors. Or just paint 😊
I, too, am a bit obsessive about organization, so it’s nice to see you getting this space set up for yourselves. Question: I think you had planned on the barn cats having beds in this space, but I haven’t seen any updates about them. Do you still have them?
I love organizing videos!!! Your garage looks so much better. I recently had LED florescent lights installed in my garage to replace the fluorescent lights that were there. They last so much longer and put out AMAZING light. I don't mean to tell you what to do, but you may want to consider doing that now. I love your channel and your bright smile.
I agree think of the bins as honey bee's. You can even decorate them to "bee" like them. Looks good so far. I also agree, you should paint the floor it makes such a difference, I have done both no paint and painted the floors and love the floors so much more painted. They are easier to clean, etc. The bench needs something, not sure if you could just paint the legs and then an accent color for the top, or even sand the top and leave it metal looking. Anyway, it's your space and you do you!!! Can't wait to see it all done. 🥰
Good morning. I love your idea of having a wood workshop and garden storage in one. May I suggest that because you have a large property, how about having a garden cart that is just for irrigation things like all the little pieces that you need for repairs and for hooking up so that could be like an organize tool box, as well as the different size tubing that would be needed. This way you are not running back and forth getting the items that you may have missed collecting at the beginning. Other wise you and Jason are doing a wonderful job together. Enjoy in what you have and done.
