Mine is 3 years old the exact same model. I cook rib’s chicken pizza brisket tri tip pork buts. It does everything well. There are a few hot spots. I need to replace the igniter rod my last cook I had to help it get going last cook. I also have the baby Davey crocket uses half the pellets and heats up a bit faster. I do fight with the Wi-Fi some. I normally don’t use it. My first grill was a Myron Mixon the red unit similar size. It didn’t have the algorithm the GMG that helps it maintain perfect temperature. The temperatures were way up and way down constantly. I have accessory racks so I can cook layers. I also use them on the little guy. These grills are first class in my opinion. My brother had a Treager for a few years and he bought his Daniel Boon first and recommended it. He was blown away bye the temperature spikes I had with the Myron. I’ve used flavored pellets a few times and can’t tell much difference in flavor. I bought a pallet of 40lb bags of Costco brand pellets for $6 a bag on Offer Up. Tractor Supply has the cheapest pellets I’ve found and Walmart second.
This video was helpful as I am looking at purchasing this grill right now. 9/2/21. My only concern is that pellet smokers have a rep of not giving enough smoke flavor when compared to other smokers. ( Offsets ) I'm curious if you have a preferred pellet? And have you ever used a smoke tube to boost that smoke goodness? I like the wifi and ease of use of this smoker. ( for a noob like me )
This grill is a good choice. But you will never have the same taste as an offset with actual wood chunks. This gets pretty close to a taste. I have never used a smoke tube as this smokes very well and thick.
Can you adjust the amount of smoke vs the amount of heat in your grilling/smoking like the Pit Boss brands? Also, have you done your own sausages yet? Finally, have you done any cold smoking using a smoke tube?
You can not adjust how much smoke comes out. I also had a Pitboss and you could never adjust your smoke. Never use s smoke tube since this produced enough smoke.
Is it common for the burn pot to empty after every burn ? I have to turn off smoker and re start it every time . Is there a way to prime the burn pot ?
@@Rollinsmokeaz Awesomee the other smoker I was looking at (zgrill 700) didn't have that and you literally have to grab a vacuum when you wanna empty. GMG thought of everything it's an engineer's wet dream
