Arya's choices make more sense in the books. Since the chapters are POV, the readers get access to her thoughts. I'm trying not to give book spoilers, so I will just say, remember, she is a kid that's been through a lot. She still doesn't know who to trust. She's smart but still just a kid. The show cuts out a lot of her journey before she gets to Harrenhal. She had watched the Tickler kill and torture a lot of people.

Someone might have said this already, but Brienne is swearing a traditional oath of service to Catelyn, that's why it's the same as what she swore to Renly when she joined his guard. It makes her a "sworn shield/sword" of Lady Stark. Catelyn says back the traditional response, other characters in later seasons will have a similar dialogue when swearing their service as a sword/shield to a noble-born person.

From your reaction, it wasn't really clear whether you were paying attention to the conversation between Renly and Loras in the first season. Renly doesn't really come across as someone powerhungry or jealous, but he expresses he despises Robert's bloodlust. And it's Loras who tells Renly that he should be king, saying he is both goodhearted and practical. Of course, Renly didn't act on it before Robert was dead and the power was sliding to the Lannisters. At that point in his mind, being convinced by Loras he would be the better ruler for the people, he argued to Ned they should put the best man on the throne instead of fussing about things like birthright. Robert was a disaster to the realm, and he believed Stannis would be too. Besides, since Stannis would have to fight for the throne as well, Renly didn't believe in his chances since Stannis wasn't really good at charming people. Meanwhile Renly was much better at making friends, and he had one of the wealthiest families in Westeros ready to support him. I totally understand him thinking that this is his one opportunity of being the savior of the realm, and that he has to seize it. Whether he was right about any of this, or rather quite arrogant, is a whole another speculation. But this is what we know of his motives. I thought it was sad that he died, since he was a potential ally to Robb, and very potentially one of the better candidates for the throne, since the bar is pretty low. But of course, we didn't spend enough time with him to really make this one hurt.

Personally, I liked Renly as a character. He was not a perfect character but none of the people in this show are perfect characters. In my own opinion, Renly would have made a good king as he never enjoyed the killing. He had a political mind and was not afraid of conflict as when he tried to get Ned to move against Cersei, but he never enjoyed the killing. His personal life is irrelevant to his ability to rule as a wise and decent ruler. I like to think if Renly had gotten the throne, he would have been able to grow into the responsibility he lacked as the youngest of the Baratheons. But it's all opinion so no big deal... just my two cents.

Arya's life is in danger daily and more immediate issues are more important to her. It makes sense why she won't name certain names in the books and I think it's mentioned here but it's been a while. Also, she doesn't know this man that much. If she was naming the king or Cersei then she could be killed for treason.

Brienne later on reveals why it is that she has such a deep love for Renly and wanted to serve him, it makes a lot of sense when she tells that story and her own history. I won't say why because it's part of her arc we don't like spoilers here, but it will make sense I promise yall

Cersi can't control a dragon, she's not a Targaryan. The dragons are the sigils of the Targaryan family for a reason. Targaryan's are the only ones that can "control" a dragon, tho I say that lightly cause it's more of influence than control. Dragons are extremely intelligent and can't REALLY be controlled.

Long post, hopefully you don't mind: Melisandre didn't birth the antichrist, if I remember right from the books the shadow is neutral. You can command it to obey a task, it doesn't do anything on its own. And it can only be done once. There are 3 religions in Westeros and the author of the books took inspiration in real world religions: - the Old Gods/tree worship, inspired by nature worship and shamanism (earliest forms of religion of humans) - the faith of the 7, where 7 deities are worshipped, inspired by classical polytheism - the Lord of Light, a monotheism born in Asshai and recently brought to Westeros, inspired by Christianity. I find it a bit funny you guys don't see the connection between Melisandre's religion about the lord of light/one true god and Christianity. Christians throughout history have done horrible things and persecuted many people, so the fact she does bad things is not in contradiction with her religion being inspired by Christianity. Also, she's not as much a witch as she is a religious fanatic (but she's still one of my fav characters 😅) As to (real world) witchcraft, awful things are said about it in Christian circles, but I know the topic fairly well and I know people who practice it (also known as "magick") and there is nothing evil in it. That's fear mongering done by Christian leaders. "Witchcraft" comes in many types (some work with plants only, some with ancestors only etc) but ultimately it's just trying to put a specific energy out there to get a specific result. At its core it's no different from praying or something as simple as making a wish (making a wish when blowing birthday candles falls completely into the category of a magick ritual for example). A very well known witchcraft ritual is the cord cutting one when the cord represents a bad habit you want to get rid of. Witchcraft rituals are often just symbolic actions used for psychological help with reaching a goal. Obviously if someone has no morality, bad intentions etc then they would use witchcraft for bad purposes. But it's the person who's wrong not magick/witchcraft itself. When you're talking about Satan and such you're not talking about the fictional world of GOT anymore, you're talking about your actual beliefs, and the belief that someone doing witchcraft is evil is really not nice. Hence my comment. You 2 seem like great guys and it saddens me a bit to know you have nregative views of people practicing something you are misinformed about.

What made game of thrones so great for like the 95% of its episodes was.... there's no plot armor, people acted in ways that made sense.....if you have the power to send a ghost to kill your enemy, nobody is really gonna drag that out. You got that magic, go kill him --- I have wars to fight. Uhm Joffery hated Ned.... cut his head off. It was never like "I'm going to spend 6 episodes of developing plots" it was.... if you could make your move make your move

she made a blood oath to him as a knight . literally this is the worst possible failure for a knight of the king's guard , to see their king murdered in front of their eyes and being powerless to do anything about it . Jorah would have cried harder than Brienne if this happened to Daenerys, trust me . Coz let's face it , Brienne was simping for king Renley too , she came all the way from the saphire islands for a chance to be part of his king's guard , she clearly knew who he was before and has been simping for a while .
