What better place to protect the business end of the gun, everyone around you, yourself, and lastly be at the ready.... Two things to consider, there’s room in his shoe to tuck his toes back, and keep the gun in a secure, Physically locked position With an open breach... 2. The person holding the gun is the ultimate safety. (However a wide range of margin.). Hope I don’t sound snobby just sounded like you wanted a realistic answer...
Even if Some how the shell malfunctions and fires it’s own self... (ya I know it’s impossible) with the breech open you would not be shooting lead.. You would be shooting the plastic hull of the shell which doesn’t have the mass to cause injury..... An open breached gun is a safe gun .period.... So If you know so little about firearms You should not be questioning a professional shooters expertise... Kind of pompous and arrogant, not to mention Shows your ignorance
Ive seen country Boys show up with a squirrel guns and lose horribly every time at the trap range. Its a different discipline. I was that country boy with a squirrel gun at one time also.
@@darkgael0 Good Lord I can't believe an answer 18 minutes ago from 5 years ago That is so funny I am only repeating what I was told when I shot And when you think about it it would not only be an elevation on a straight sharp but also a lead
A few years ago I went to a trap shooting place where we shot clay in different settings and sizes trying to simulate pigeons in a bush, rabbits or squirrels along the ground. DO they have a competition like that?
Same,I shoot off my deck all the time,i have a set of targets set up off my deck at 100,200,and 300 yards. Including smaller pistol targets at 10 yards and every 5 yards up to 50.
I dont know, but i would guess its so they can put the gun lower on their shoulder to make it easier to handle the recoil, i allso notice some of them have higher stock so they still kan have their chin rest on the stock to keep the head on sight... but then again its just a guess, i have never shot or handled a shotgun before
It puts the butt of the shotgun deeper into the pocket of your shoulder, and allows you to keep your head more erect, keeping your muscles in your neck and eyes less fatigued
Trap shooting is very quick, as you have just seen, If you used a normal Sporting gun you would inevitably shoot over the Top of the clay because of the way that it flies, (curving away from you to the left or right or directly ahead ) By having a High Rib, this gives you the illusion that your lining up the Top of the Rib to the flight of the clay but you are in fact aiming below allowing the clay to curve into the shot, ( you will also notice that the Comb of the Gun is also raised to bring the eye line up to the bead at the end) This is similar to giving lead in sporting clays. Needles to say Trap guns aren't much use in Sporting because of the different trajectory of the clays, and vice versa. I personally find Trap shooting more difficult for me, so I shoot Sporting, but I do love having a go at it every once in a while. Hope that explains it a little.
She mentioned a pair of glasses being "pretty dark" for the day. What would be ideal for the weather that day? It appears a few are wearing perhaps Vermillion..? I am looking at getting a Rx pair made and considering what would be the most versatile.
I would like to know what you went with because I can't see any detail shooting targets without my glasses. Im interested in getting prescription shooting glasses myself
I really enjoyed watching the shooters shoot while looking at the audience. It was fantastic not not watch half the targets get hit. Said no one ever. 👎🏼👎🏼
Where in australia are you? I've found that there are a lot of clay target clubs not listed in the white pages or on the internet. After a little research I found there are 4 clubs within an hour of me and I'm sure there are more I don't know about. I just joined my closest club today, Westernport Field & Game on Phillip Island, but if you Google "Phillip Island gun club" or similar you'll struggle for info. Check with your nearest known club where your nearest actual club is.
people who are bored by competition shooting, have you ever even shot a gun before? only gone to a range once in my life but thats all i need to appreciate greatly this sport.
It's crazy how you can take literally any fun activity, slap the word "Olympic" in front of it, and turn it into the most boring thing the world has witnessed.
another thing you could try is ring a local gunshop/dealer (there is always a few in the yellow pages) and ask them about clay grounds and gun clubs, they will be happy to tell you as you may become a customer in the future.
Can’t really be upset with that sweep as the action was wide open. Can’t really be mad at the trigger discipline because he was down range about to call.
but seriously - 24 hour turnaround here. Some states make you wait to get your permit. Here in Victoria your first gun is 28 days then 24-48 hours for each subsequent gun.
Don’t know what you are talking about, do you. The ammo is 2 3/4 inch 12 gauge. The shot load is 7/8ths of an ounce of shot no larger than 7.5. The targets are faster (65 mph) than American Trap targets (40 mph)
well if you are talking about buying, all firearms need to be registered into your name (forget semi auto's aswell) and it takes about a week to process if it is quick, then you need to o fill out more paperwork and receive the firearm, oh and another thing guns are ALOT more expensive, a bad mosn 91/30 that would go for maybe $50 in the states is about 350 here the cheapest i've seen an ar-15 is 9,000
neuvocastezero 1 As you look at the ribs, they all cant down from the shooter’s eyeline towards the muzzle. This causes the gun to pattern high (above the bead/rib). Since you’re always shooting a rising bird in trap, the high pattern lets you focus on the bird more clearly.
this vid make me happy , i see this guys very good shooter and compared with me DAM I FILL GOOD , i see left pocket one load or brand of cartridge right pocket another load or brand of cartridge (for different barrels and choke ) , guns 20 000 thousand dollars or more Me reload recuperated pellets 50% 8 9 7 1/2 who know and new 50% 7 1/2 , my shotgun half sig and half rizzini this part with 32 inch barrel and out 6 boxes of shell, over were out clay machines i miss only 4 clay huuu no that bad boy
The rest the barrel on the tow of their shoe....with the breech open the gun is impossible to fire and the dont have to hold up the 8-9lbs of shotgun to preserve their arm strength...lifting and accurately aiming over 200 times is tiring.
Hey! I'll probably head to Mornington for an unlicensed shoot on Friday arvo. I'm sitting my firearms safety course (again) on Thursday down at Rhyll. I sat the course ages ago but while building our house I forgot to lodge my paperwork and actually get my license :-/ I didn't realise until I only had 2 days left to get it all into the licensing mob. got my membership at Rhyll today, Test on thurs and be shooting doubles again in about 4 1/2 weeks...
As an american I keep forgetting how small Europe is. When I here then say "oh we dont want to go too far, maybe Germany or Italy" I'm just thinking "those are two different countries, how would you find the time?" But then again Germany is smaller than texas I believe, like if I'm in florida and I drive for 9 hours I'm still in fucking florida
