These guys are the reason why i have maintained good head of hair over the years seriously you guys are doing gods work by proving these information and the to for free no doctor explain this even with paid consultation
I was on finastride over 6 years. Stop finastride for years, and first time we want to start a family and bang, hit the jackpot first try. Now we have a perfect beautiful boy.
Mine too. I think if you're in good shape and work out routinely and have low bodyfat, more testosterone stays testosterone, and you get an increase in libido. I think if you're fat and out of shape or unhealthy generally then more testosterone aromatizes into estrogen and you get low libido and all that. That's my hypothesis.
@@ryanmccarter9859 exactly!!! That's why I said in my comment : " have a healthy lifestyle and you won't ever have finasteride side effects " . It's really as simple as that in fact
@onepalproductions doesn't mean they are taking treatments just because they know about them. Plus they both have a full head of hair while being middle aged. What are you on about?
These two are the reason I take finasteride. Almost 5 months now and absolutely no side affects. I remember being very tired during the second month but that was fixed with coffee. Now I am completely normal. Also my semen was low in quantity and slightly watery. Doesn't bother me at all. I have yet to notice any difference in my hair though... however.... if the drug really works, it means it stopped continues hair loss which is difficult to appreciate since we are always thinking about growth and thickening of existing hair
I haven't noticed any difference in hair either, perhaps even more thinning but maybe it's shedding. I am 6 months in. I used to take 3 times a week but have now gone up and settled with 5 times a week. I think it might work to stop more hair loss, if so I will continue to take it indefinitely. It's kind of disappointing it has not grown back thick but it's only 6 months and my hair is long so it's hard to tell big difference yet regarding baby growth. You see really good results online but it's probably a select few. The volume is pretty low but I reckon it's shedding. 12 months I will see. It could stop further loss tho, has any one taken it and not seen progress? But stability? It took me 2 years to admit I was losing my hair, damn I was in denial. Thankfully I have had zero side effects, sex drive may have increased.
@@Jasper1364G That's the thing with Finasteride. What makes it a good result ? The whole scientific reasoning behind it is to keep your hair. So for someone who has thinning or balding areas, it is quite impossible to have it restored with finasteride. The only thing I love about finasteride is that there are studies that it thickens existing hairs, meaning it will make them look their natural best (if they were appearing weak or thin)
Was recently prescribed a compounded pill by Dr. Knudsen combining Finasteride (to halt the hair loss) and Minoxidil (to grow hair/hair thickness). My understanding was that achieving success at both stopping hair loss and growing new hair/thicker hair, then both treatments are required to do this. I’m about 2 weeks in, haven’t noticed any side effects. Excited to get further into using it and monitor progress along the way 😊
@David Stoneham Hi David, my semen does not seem watery as it was when I started taking it. I do not believe Finasteride stops men from making women pregnant. Usually the most common side affect that man are scared about is when Finasteride doesn't allow them to feel horny or able to get erections at all I know I might not make sense, but at the end of the day, all I care about is keeping my hair
Really appreciate you guys. Started fin 2 months ago because of the info I found here. Already seems to be some regrowth. But idk what's causing it since I was doing microneedle/ minoxidil for 2 years before fin. Will keep up all 3! Can't thank you enough!
I did a test before and 10 months after finasteride by the way. No changes in sperm count etc... whatsoever!!! If anything : my sperm quality is better now than 10 months ago (I think it's because I have a better diet than before basically). Edit : i'm on 1mg finasteride everyday by the way.
@@newayof6473 " And the effect is apparently permanent " Source : " TRusT mE BroOo !!! " . Stop the bullshit dude. Post finasteride syndrome is a fairy tail 🧚♀️ . It doesn't exist and it has been debunked plenty of times already. There is nothing " permanent " with finasteride. You have side effects? Then stop the drug and everything will return to normal 3 to 4 weeks after you stopped the treatment. Ps : finasteride side effects are overblown on the internet and it's mostly nocebo. People are just a bunch of hypochondriac seriously... they would blame anything bad happening in their lives on finasteride lmao . " ohh I'm a bit tired today " ---> must be because of finasteride!!! Etc etc... Incredible..
Just do a test before and after finasteride and see what's happening to your sperm count etc... be rational . Don't think because you are tired today it's because of finasteride. If you are tired today it's because you either didn't sleep well, you overworked, you are stressed for some reasons or your diet is poor. To be honest if you have a healty lifestyle you won't have finasteride side effects. Drop the McDonald's, eat healthy and work out, and sleep well at regular hours. And you will be perfectly fine 🙂
Hi there, Dr Russel could you clarify what you said 6.20 regarding sexual side effect. Did you say 60% recovered? The remaining 40% didn't recover? Please clarify it would be kindly appreciated.
I’ve had lots of success with finasteride since my early 20s. No side effects or issues with libido. In my mid thirties now, trying to conceive. Sperm analysis showed a healthy count as well as motility, though there were concerns about morphology. Fertility doctor mentioned that morphology isn’t the only indicator for conception, but I was curious if there were any data on finasteride’s effects on morphology. I’m open to stopping finasteride for a period of time while trying to conceive, but if it has no effects on morphology, I’m anxious to stop it for no reason.
My take on finasteride as I’ve been on it 2 years come December. Year one, I took .5 mg and saw great results. Hair loss stopped and even grew back in thinning areas in my temples. Though after 10 months the progress stopped. I then one year after starting taking .5 mg, I upped my dosage to 1 mg (normal dose). After a few months I noticed my hair growth to increase even more. Mid way through this year I was very happy with my hair results. All I have ever taken was finasteride. BUT, throughout this year I have suffered at first what I thought was heart burn and breast tenderness. Not painful, but annoying aching. I saw a doctor who did not know what would cause it and gave me digestive probiotics. None helped. I then admitted something I hoped wouldn’t be true. The time I started getting all of these symptoms lined up with when I started taking 1 mg of finasteride. As of 3 weeks ago I stopped taking finasteride and all of my chest tenderness symptoms have gone away…. I hate it took me so long to realize. So in another week or two I will start taking finasteride again but at my previous dosage of .5 mg. If you start taking FN, be wary of side effects. I did not experience and libedo side effects at all nor any sides when taking .5 mg, but when I took 1 mg I did. Find that sweet spot for you.
Hoping anyone can answer this question: Does coffee interact with finasteride? I take Finasteride in the morning, around 15 minutes after I have my coffee, then I brush my teeth, and get ready for the day. I'm four months into finasteride, taking 1mg three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), and I haven't noticed any reduction in hair loss, and of course, I'm overthinking all the possibilities because of this. So, to put my mind at rest, does coffee interact with Finasteride? Should I take the tablet at a different time of day? Thanks :))
Hey doc, I started finasteride and was only taking 1mg 3x per week, as I started before but it made my nipples itch. Now taking 3x per week my nipples started to itch again. First it started in my left nipple then eventually both. I came down to once a week but it was still itching. I stopped completely now its been almost 3 weeks and now its starting to get better a little. Is this a sign of gyno? Should I just give up on fin as I has a HT 3 months ago too.
You recommend using Finasteride 3 times a week, this recommendation is equal to topical Finasteride? ( 1% Finasteride) Using oral Finasteride and topical Finasteride can be used 3 times a week?
What are your thoughts on using beard hair as donor hair for the scalp? Do you do so in your clinical practice? Also, you guys talk a lot about having FUT first and then FUE if needed. What are your thoughts on doing an FUE first and then FUT?
I'm not a doctor but use your common sense. When you do FUE first they'll take hair all over your donor area so once you decide to the FUT after that the strip will have a lot less hair in that area. FUT first then FUE.
Hi, can you please respond to my question.. Does Minoxidil also work using it like 2 times a week combined with topical finansteride 2 times a week ? Also using derma roller 2 times a week.. I only want to wash my hair 4 times a week.. see my weekly routine below? Is this a good routine ? Monday : Derma roller / Minoxidil Tuesday : not washing hair Wednesday : Topical finansteride Thursday : not washing hair Friday : Derma roller/ topical finansteride Saturday : not washing hair Sunday : Minoxidil Only apply minoxidil or topical finansteride after I wash my hair. Can you give some advice is it maybe better to use minoxidil and topical finansteride together after I wash my hair ?
My brother takes 5mg finasteride in the morning and 0.05Dutasteride at night. He's 30, his hair was falling out and he said 1 pill alone wasn't doing much and taking both has helped him alot. He doesn't want kid's. Is this dosage normal?
Not normal. You should not self medicate kn this stuff. Hiw long has he been on finasteride for? This stuff takes time to see effects... also try minoxidil and scalp puncture devices. Buy there's no reason to take both finasteride and dutasteride.
Sirs, Would you recommend oral finasteride in the morning or evening? Before or after a meal? What is your recommendation for the best absorption? (and/or maybe mitigating the side effects?)
I started using finasteride in my mid twenties. In my mid to late thirties I wanted to start a family but found my sperm count was quite low and motility was low. I stopped finasteride for 6 months and retested, but there was no improvement. We eventually had to use IVF (ICSI) to conceive. I can't say that this was due to the finasteride, but I do suspect it had an impact as I am otherwise healthy, low drinker, non smoker.
It's not finasteride. I had low sperm count before and after finasteride (did a test before starting finasteride). My doctor told me that most people of our generation have problems with fertility because of pollution and plastic etc... This has nothing to do with finasteride. Ps : I also don't drink and don't smoke and I eat very healthy etc... This is all because of pollution and plastic unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it . Young people in 2022 have about 22% less fertility than people during the 60s !!! (It tells you a lot about the disaster to come when men fertility is concerned) ...
Wait u tell them to stop a month before trying to conceive to try to get it out of system? Doesn't sperm take over 2 months from start of production to it being ready to be released? How would a month before help with sperm counts for conception?
Hi what if Dutasteride 0.5mg looses effectivnes over 7 years? Combine Topical Finasteride to it? My actual protocol: - 0.5mg Dutasteride (daily) - 10% Minoxidil - Ketoconazole Shampoo 2-3x per week - and I added RU58841 5% - daily (started only 2 months ago and shedding a lot) What can I add here? PS: I have the agressive form of mpb as it started as a 16yr old I‘m 25 now and keeping up the good fight but slowly loosing ground. Please help
Can you also tell us more about the correct microdose for using dutasteride for hairloss and about the half time of dutasteride. Is 0,5mg once a week enough. Thank you
My dermatologist was hesitant to give me finasteride because she believes there’s a chance it can cause PERMANENT erectile dysfunction. Is this true? Should I push back and ask to take it?
Hi doctors. Would you be nice to answer the one simple but very important question. Can bald spots on frontal area be regrown or it is always waste of time and money?
Hi, is there any risk of an eye condition called CSR to be caused by a finasteride? I was using minox foam and about 0.90mg every second day of fin and I was diagnosed CSR in the left eye :(
Just one question and please answer it dr. I am 26 and suffering from grade 6 baldness and recently got a hair transplant done. Dr. Prescribed 1 mg finasteride, biotin and some other medicine. They said if i want a good result it’s must to take finasteride. So I started it for few days and from the first day i am feeling some pressure or paun in my testicles. What should I do? I have no other issues and I know the importance of finasteride if i want some hair back on my head. Please guide me, is it a normal pain? Does most of the people face this? Will it give me a long term side effect like erectile dysfunction? Thank you for the effort you are providing to educate people like us.
I cant completly apply my topical version of minoxidil + finastride so i went to my doctor and he says he cant prescribe oral minodil + finastride but he can give me only minoxidil oral form Is it ok to switch from minoxidil + finastride topical to only minoxidil
Do i need a diagnosis of mpb by a dermatologist even though i was already prescribed finasteride by a general doctor? He did not examine me but i have obvious recession on my temples
They are film coated, but they're not time release coated, since you're breaking the film just make sure a pregnant woman or child do not touch the unfilmed part of the pill as it can be absorbed thru the skin
Dr I started loosing obsene amount of hair right after a botched chemical straightening from a salon. My scalp is fine. I suspect the chemical was really harsh. The loss is all over scalp. It's been 5 months. The hairfall is not normal. However,i can see hair coming in each parting now. I'm taking homeopathic treatment for that as I didn't want to rely on minoxidil. Dermatologists say the straightening has triggered chronic talogen effluvium. Please let me know am I going the right way or should I take more aggressive step. Earlier it was really severe handful of strands. Now, it's up down. Someday, 60 or someday even 200. There is no history of fphl in my family. Sometimes I worry about it. I'm taking Hairfact also
My experience. Took finasteride 1mg for around 3 months…….. Gory details. Size of my ejaculations stayed the same but it was 90% clear. Like shooting water. Off it now for a month and it’s now about 25% ‘white’. So. Returning to normal. That’s all folks. Lucky I don’t want kids, eh
Hello doctors, I got two questions that i can't find any answer to. 1) when we say that finasteride slows down or stops hairloss. Do we still lose hair that people normally lose?? I am talking about the 100-150 hair per day. And is this count increased or decreased in people with mbp ?? 2) are there shedding cycles on fin and minox ?? If so, how many hair per day should be considered normal during a shed ??
I just took the first pill after a month of getting hair transplant done. I experienced abnormal ejaculation I'm just 24 and worried .Should I continue or not.
I used finastride of a certain brand. I was having side effects. I stopped it. Later i got finastride of another brand, I am doing quite good. I think i still have less sperm volume, but no problem of ED that was there before. What do you think might have happend. I am about 15 days in, with other brand.
Along the whole hairline as well ! (To prevent future hairloss there). You always have to be proactive when hairloss is concerned. Ps : you should also use finasteride cause minoxidil by itself won't be enough long term.
Hi, thank you for the video. I'd like to ask you about the effect of dutasteride on semen. My doctor told me it might affect fertility even after discontinuation. What do you think about that?
Hi I was wondering if you are in your 20’ have a decent head of hair but are noticing thinning and hair falling out, want to take action to reduce hair loss but are too worried from side effects of oral finasteride, what is next best option? Love your content, thank you
Doc i had sebaroheic dermatitis and hairfall for which my dermatologist suggested ketoconazole shampoo with minoxidil 5%and finasteride tablets. Its been 4 months since I have been following this medication but my hairfall hasn't stopped and dandruff exists! Though slight growth of hair is visible due to minoxidil. Please suggest for my hairfall to stop
I started taking finasteride at 49. I'm now 56. I work out regularly. I cannot say I've notice any real side affects. I'm also at the age where one becomes less and less, how should we say...spry? lol... Thing is with stuff like Viagra..this is just a great time to live! But to the point, as an older man, I have not noticed any noticeable negative side affects with finasteride and I've been on it for 7 years uninterrupted.
@@jaydog9329 its hard to say because I got a hair transplant right after I started but I would say I did not get any regrowth but it kept the hair I had and kept it thicker
U should take it in this case , In my opinion i think the acne is caused by DHT am i right ? If yes so continue so ur body doesn’t produce more acne while on roaccutane
Taking finasteride for 8 months. No regrowth, more thinning or shedding 😢 possible halt of MPB on a molecule level however Should I take 2.5 minoxidil pill too now? It might be time for the nuclear option. I was hoping for great results on finasteride but the pictures online are for the minority

Im started fin next week. going to do .5 a day. Hope i dont experience any sides. Im a bodybuilder, i eat healthy, do cardio, libido is high, i hope this doesnt ruin me...id rather go bald.
I'm happy on finasteride and not planning to have children but after 4 or 5 years I stopped being able to produce much ejaculate upon orgasm. It's down to almost nothing at this point. I'm 34 and I've been on it for 10 years. Maybe it's totally unrelated, but just thought it was interesting and might be worth checking with my doctor.
hello sir i (21M) have diffused thinning and have been consuming finasteride 1 mg for past 4.5 months but saw no results at all then i started to consume dutasteride (.5 mg) daily for past 4 months (8 months total) but still am not seeing results. I feel as if taking dut only is too strong a medication and i may have given up on finasteroide too quickly. So what do u suggest me to do ? I feel that combination of fin/dut would be better for me. Please give me some suggestions. and thank you for your work.
Hello...my wife is 13 weeks pregnant...I stopped finasteride 10 days before conceiving and then went back on...We have for the most part had protected sex with a condom up until this point but i am wondering if I am ok to not use a condom anymore going forward since she is out of trimester 1 of pregnancy.
I've had very bad side effects from 1mg of fin. I'm an athlete and prone to hair loss with no allergies to anything. I had to get off after a little over a month. Super bummed out. I'm exploring micro dosing smaller amounts to see how my body will take it.
@na s has the hair loss continued? From what I have read you should have shedding first and then it returns to your normal level. Is that what you have experienced? Thanks for the reply.
Guys I have a qs I am 20 And thick hair no hair loss at all Both side has quite thick hairs till 60s Should I start finasteride without even seeing any signs ?just to prevent ?
i took Fina for 9 years... just stop in july 2021. due to too many sexual side effects. libido was high during the time i took the pill yes, but anxiety, erection problem, semen water, memory and focus loss etc... the problem is that when you stop, some of the side effect still permanent : after 1 year i stoped the drug, i recovered 90% from psychical side, but sexual side persiste. need viagra everytime. and i am 35 years old and healthy men..
Hey guys! Long time lurker, first time commenter. With high doses of Finasteride having an effect on prostate size and BPH, do you think Finasteride has a place in the treatment regiment for men with prostate cancer? or men that have had a prostatectomy? Cheers.
Yes it was originally made for men who had enlarged prostates and many of them discovered it helped them regrow hair. Now here we are. It’s important to note the root of all of its feminizing effects is the 5 alpha retuctase inhibition which means testosterone will no longer convert to DHT.
I can tell you from personal experience, just having gotten off finasteride (was on it daily at the full dose for 3 years) that my semen had become watery/liquid and there was much less of it being released upon ejaculation compared to how I was prior to starting the medication. I was 41 years old before starting it and I am 44 now. In addition to that, my morning erections were non-existent after being on finasteride and my body hair and beard hair all but disappeared over the course of the 3 years on finasteride. I stopped taking it 5 and a half weeks ago and have no regrets. My semen has thickened up (it's white again) and there's more being released), my body hair/beard is thickening up as well and my morning erections are slowly coming back. I am still on minoxidil, of which I had been taking concurrently with finasteride.
@@NR-qp4kj Way to cherry pick my symptoms. You did read that I also had reduced every thing else, right? I gave up my once thick beard for the maintenance of the thinning hair on my head. Not worth it anymore to me.
Great channel, I've been learning a lot from you guys 🙌. Thanks to you guys I started taking Finasteride two weeks ago, 3mg per week (Monday-Wednesday-Friday). My erection is not as hard as before but only a bit and my semen is less viscous/thick. I still have the same interest in sex. Should I lower my dose to avoid these minor side effects? Will less than 3mg per week be effective?
I´ve been on the same dose as you for just over a year and I had similar experienced when I first started. I would say from personal experience, that those minor side effects reduce after a while.
I do 0.0833 mg topical per day (2.5mg pulverized and put into a 60ml minox bottle, use 2ml a day) I might increase to 0.1mg a day even though the study had their lowest effective daily exposure without side effects at 0.918mg/day
As a professional working for a public healthcare organisation, I appreciate that you might not be able to "screen" everybody, although frankly the extra question "do you have any/suspect any fertility issues?" question plus some basic education around the impact on sperm/semen quality and motility would not take longer than 60 seconds. However, I would hope that you would at least mention the potential side effects of Finasteride to your patients, including the impact on semen. While this might be anxiety-provoking for some people to hear (and perhaps it should be), I do think that ethically it is the right thing to do. More generally, if someone has fertility problems (even just borderline) AND is trying to conceive, are you seriously not going to advise to just leave Finasteride for a while and perhaps focus on growth stimulation (i.e., Minoxidil, microneedling, etc.)?
Hey there chaps, Just have a question if I may. Would you guys at all advise taking minoxidil, finasteride and dutasteride (Avodart) altogether? Cheers guys!
can you make a video on taking finasteride as a preventative measure, i.e. taking finasteride before you experience any hair loss (benefits and disadvantages). I was thinking of taking .25mg daily, due to family history of balding and I am in my early 30s. Definitely don't want to lose my hair.
Just because your family had it, it doesn’t mean that you will have it too….. you should start using Finasteride only when you notice the first sign of hair loss or thinning.
Bro, if you're in your 30s and still have no hair loss, then you shouldn't worry. The balding process has already started before 30 for most people, if it's going to happen.
@@davez5201 nah bro, I have seen plenty of people start losing hair in their early thirties. Besides that I have been shedding more lately so that got me worried.
@@thatoneaudience9122 I've been shedding more lately and it got me worried, also wouldn't wanna wait till I see first signs cause it can be hard seeing the first signs and that means you might have already lost some ground which you can't gain back. .25mg is pretty effective.
