Hi Doctor, thank you so much for your videos. They are so informative. I wanted to try 0.5 mg finasteride everyday, but wanted to know if I can also use an aromatase inhibitor every other day or maybe twice a week to keep the activity in check? Do you recommend dosing together 0.5 mg alternate day and say letrozole or tamoxifen along with it to control any excess conversion to estrogen?

Hello, First of All I would like to thank you for all the video you have made. I have watched a lot of them and your explanation are very clear every time. I really like the fact that you go straight to the point for every subject without turning around the subject for half the video like others do. My case is specific, thus I allow myself to post this message. I have never seen someone talk about this in the comments. - I took dutasteride 0.5 mg everyday for 5 months. It worked very well.Hair Loss completely stopped. - But then after 3 months i Had erectile dysfunction. Pretty severe. I stopped Dutasteride to see if this was the medicine that caused it. - Few weeks after, i think around one month and half, erectile dysfunction disappeared and everything went back to normal. - 6 months after stopping Dutasteride, I went back on it cause hair loss came back. This time, it had absolutely no effect on me: Hair loss didnt stop. I didnt have erectile dysfunction this time. It was very weird, like my body was not responding to the medicine at all. Now I am thinking of taking Finasteride, even though it blocks less isozymes 5AR than Dutasteride, as you said in an other video. As my hair loss is aggressive. I am thinking of taking 1mg of Finasteride per day. What do you suggest ? It was almost a year ago my last trial of Dutasteride. I want to specify that I have also tried minoxidil. It worked first year. then I stopped during one month. then went back on it during 6 months but never worked again. I want to specify that I have active Ulcerative Colitis. Thank you for the query. I would ask you to get total testosterone and estradiol levels checked. If these are normal you can start Tab Finasteride 1 mg at night, Tab Oral Minoxidil 2.5 mg at night (if yoou have good heart health as corroborated by family physician only) and 0.5 mg Dutasteride on Saturday nughts (in place of Finasteride for that night). Thanks for the information sir, but I was wondering if you really need to have serum levels of hormones checked because some surgeons don't check the levels as they say that tissue concentration of dht is what matters and not the blood's.regards

We do not check it for effect of DHT. Even little bit of DHT is enough to kill sensitive hairs. We check it to know if patient is hypogonadic, In such cases erectile dysfunction is common and hence Finasteride cannot be started.

Thank you soo much for making this video doctor, I have been suffering from hair loss from last 8,9 years and already lost 70% to 80% hair. Recently i came to know about finasteride and started taking 1mg/day for 20 days. I have seen some improvement in my hairs but the side effects I've got was having night falls for continuous 10/12 days so i got really worried and stopped taking. After that i decided to go for hair transplant but after watching your video i was wondering how would fin reacts on me if i take .5mg 3 times week, hope this will work for me .This video boosted my confidence thanks again 🙂

Yes hair fiber is inert and does not harm. You have the same hair fall with short hair as with long hair, only in the case of the former, it is not obvious.

Hello Doctor, your videos are excellent. One question regarding finasteride has been in my mind for a long time and I haven’t heard a satisfactory answer. If evolution created DHT in men it cant be only for the purpose of leading to baldness, that is probably just a bad side effect. When we block a significant portion of DHT, wouldn’t it be logical to assume we will be sacrificing its nature intended positive effects?

Yes till the age of 21, DHT has significant functions for the human bodily development. That is the reason it should not be given till 21 age.

Whenever I take finasteride I start to feel pain in my right testicle and it remains for 2-3 days after stopping. and when the pain is completely gone I start retaking the finasteride but the pain again comes. Hello dr. I'm 20 years old and i am facing serious hairloss. My hairline started to recede when i was 16-17 but there wasn't much of hairfall which is right now. A year ago my dermatologist prescribed me with minox 5% + finasteride 0.1 topical solution which did stop my hairfall slow down but now I'm facing hairfall again at a very rapid pace at the tamples and also in the crown area. I want to get on finasteride to maintain my existing hairs for few years, but my dermatologist is not a hair loss expert and he is a professor. Sir how to get a prescription of this medicine and what type of dermatologist should i consult with?

super video as always your voice is always pleasure to hear and thnx > About turkey? However, such a cheap hair transplant can cost you dearly. The results are often disappointing and in some cases there are even serious abuses. For example, treatments are carried out by staff without training, medical protocols are not observed and there is no aftercare. Patients are left with an unnatural Turkish hairline, hair that grows in an unnatural direction, resulting in scarring. In severe cases, wounds become chronically inflamed, with all the associated health risks.

Hello Dr., I'm 20 years old now and soon to be 21 in November. In a previous video you stated that you normally do not prescribe finasteride to people under the age of 21 - wondering if you think I'm close enough? Since a year or so back I have had recession of the hairline and some thinning of the top of the scalp. On all other parts the hair is still going quite strong, so I want to hold on to this and possibly regrow some hair around the temples (carefully optimistic). My dad had/has androgenic alopecia as well. Thinking about doing either 0.25 or 0.5 mg on alternate days.

Hi you could go on Finasteride microdose like you suggest. Merck allows Finasteride after 18! If you take a low dose it will be fine. But ask your doctor.

Hello Dr. I was on oral finasteride 1mg 3 times a week but was worried about major side effects so I switched to topical 0.025% 2ML daily. After a few months of testing with results I unfortunately cannot tolerate Minoxidil even at 1% due to it causing dizziness and feeling faint. I read that finasteride can also cause dizziness and light headedness and since im still experiencing those symptoms id like to know if you think the topical finasteride is the cause or if its more likely due to dieting/reducing caffeine intake and discontinuing Minoxidil a month ago. Im also on Lexapro 5mg daily. I am also now substituting Minoxidil for Bhringraj Oil. Thank you for your time.
