I stopped minoxidil for 6-7 months. Now again am loosing hair at a large number. Can i use minoxidil even after stopping 7 months ? Will it be beneficial for me ?

hello doc, just out of curiosity, for older folks taking fin, how are their PSA levels evaluated since it is advised to check your PSA levels every year after a certain age and fin seems to mask it or lower it. Thanks

Likely that he has a strong family history Most likely he will reach the final stage faster unless medical intervention is done. And this could be by 25 years age. And then he will not bald any further!

Hi Dr. I have been taking 1mg Oral Fin for 5/6 months now and am still experiencing Hair Shedding (shedding is a sign that fin is working right?) Should I not worry and continue to use it? I understand Fin Shedding is different for everyone (some a few weeks, others a few months), but when should it stop on average?

It may well be progression of baldness inspite of Finasteride since shedding on initiating the medication seldom last more than 6 weeks. Get back to your doctor.

I'm curious, Dr. Why do men get more hairloss in their mid 50s when testosterone is dropping. My dad had hair like Ronald Reagan and got a lot of sudden thinning at this age. Not bald though.

Hair loss is most rapid at the age range 25-35, not in middle age. Your observation might be anecdotal.

Doc this is a very specific question I have seen many online posts where people with Norwood 1 took finasteride and their hair density took a hit and kept worsening whereas people with atleast norwood 2 got good results. Does taking finasteride early react badly? I was NW1 but my hair kept worsening, 7 months

Hairline trait is difficult to control with Finasteride. Mostly they do not have baldness, only the hairline is resetting as per genetic programming as the other males in the family.

Dear doctor, my name is Mohsin and I am 19 years old. I noticed hair loss and started taking finasteride, 1mg It helped initially, but after three months, the hair loss resumed. I then switched to dutasteride, along with finasteride which stopped the hair loss, but I discontinued it after a month due to concerns about side effects and went back to finasterid only. Not recommended. You may feel dizzy at work since it lowers blood pressure. But discuss with your treating doctor who knows your physiology better.

@@hairtransplantinindia doctor is there any advantage in taking a dose pill in splits rather than whole at once? What time is the best to take oral minoxidil according to you?

@@INFINITY-X- When you split you do not get exact dosing. Minoxidil can be taken any time but night time is best since it may cause some drop in blood pressure which is mitigated when you are lying in bed. During day time this can make you experience dizziness and your compliance will be affected.
