I think there are better blends for Gouldians. I might suggest either feeding a reputable commercial mix for either australian finches or Gouldian specific. And then if you want to mix your own from Bulk, you can check ingredient list and match the ratios (or perhaps there is a formula online).
Thanks for this video. I also sprout seeds regularly, but your ideas are great. Where do you buy your seeds from? I have several finch species and am looking for other seed sources.
I think most are morning-bird products. Grasses come from Sheffields seed company. The others would be from one of the gouldian websites. I don’t do alot of shopping around, once I find a seed I like, I just stick with it.
I have not had that problem, but I understand it can be very problematic. I have read that 5 drops of grapefruit seed extract per pint of water is one way to prevent it when soaking. I think because I leave the seeds in a strainer with good airflow all around them, it may help to reduce likelihood. Be careful and do experiments - don’t want to make a mistake on this- good luck!
While they are being stored, Spray and rinse the soaked seeds daily with f10-SC mixed at proper dilution. Use bottled water. When you feed: Change the wet seed you put out every couple hours so it doesn’t start to grow fungus. You can sprinkle any wet foods with medistatin as additional precaution.
