Fincher’s best is Fight Club, and Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. And I can’t just leave without mentioning Seven which is also phenomenal.

These films shot using earlier digital cameras are often ones I don't pick up 4K discs for. I know the application of HDR would be helpful, but the lack of an audio upgrade as well makes it less enticing. It's the same for early computer animation. Yes, they look marginally better, but not enough to warrant buying it again.

Some movies, like the Toy Storys, are re-rendered for the higher resolution home formats. OG Toy Story in theaters is about 800p.

@@GameSack GAMESACK! I've watched your videos for years! I never thought I would get a reply from you. That's interesting about the first Toy Story. I didn't know it was animated in sub HD resolution. The Blu-ray is technically an upscale as it is.

@@brucebanner5870 The Blu-Ray for Toy Story is re-rendered so you get the full resolution of that format. I don't know what resolution they re-rendered them in, but probably more than 1080p. They also re-released this re-render in theaters digitally when they did the 3D versions.

I think that for a film shot in HD, the Dolby Vision on Apple TV did look pretty decent. Now, I don’t think Fincher was involved in this 4K transfer, but I’m pretty sure he would’ve done a better job in terms of HDR implementation, even though there isn’t much to be recovered from a 2K master shot in 1080p. Shane, thank you for mentioning it during your last Home Theater Hangout-I hadn’t noticed that my digital copy was upgraded to 4K Dolby Vision. After getting used to binge watching hours of television, I can now appreciate (and enjoy) the style and pace of Zodiac a lot more.

I feel like Fight Club or Seven are his best movies. Social Network as well as Girl With the Dragon Tattoo are good runner ups.

I didn't know Zodiac was filmed in digital 1080P. I always noticed it had a unique look to it. I thought the look of the film was done in post. After watching the 4K digital presentation, I prefer it in its native resolution on blu ray. The UHD transfer does look as if noise reduction was applied. The digital does have better resolution in color and detail but it's something not right about it. Zodiac's presentation should look more like Michael Mann's Collateral on 4K.

It's a combination of both 35mm and digital. Even for digital, it should have some noise
