Save $$$ - don't hire a sprinkler guy or a plumber, do it yourself!
The Chat R Box pulses the power line to a valve, rapidly opening and closing the solenoid at the valve. It makes an audible sound that you can hear to easily find those pesky buried sprinkler valve boxes!

Hey Pastor Kevin!! Great to see you on again. We’ve retired and have bought a winter RV lot and house in Florida. Now we are looking for a new Ministry and Mission. Blessings brother.

That's great news Mike!!! good to hear from you. Where in FL? Are you still on the reservation or are you now full-time in FL? Sept of 2022 I took a new job as Sr. Pastor of a church here in Gaffney SC so I've been pretty busy the past year. :-) But, I'm looking forward to posting some more here soon. If you ever cruise through Gaffney, SC, let me know!

@@RVPastorKevin. Congratulations on the new church! We are in Polk City Fl. 45 minutes from Orlando and 45 minutes from Tampa. Our plan is to winter here and travel in the summer. We have gotten involved in a church here, and are having a great time volunteering without the responsibility! I’m doing some preaching and leading informal Bible studies. Life is good! We have a two bed two bath and the motorhome we call “The Journey Inn,” so if you get down this way, you have a place to stay. Blessings.

I have said it before and I will say it again. When you install an irrigation system, build a manifold where all the valves are grouped together. It would look like your hand. One source of water but then like a finger, only one valve opens at a time. There is no searching or hiring someone to locate all your valves.

true in a perfect world, but I bought this house last summer and it had a sprinkler system installed 20 years ago. No lie, the zone valve locations don't make ANY SENSE as to their location in the system. Regardless though, I still needed a way to find them....

OK, so I purchased one of these on eBay and try using it at a customer's property.I could barely hear the solenoid.You literally had to be like a foot away from the ground To be able to hear It slightlyVibrating, it did not pulsate as loud as this video showed now I don't know if because this video is using a pro version Don't know if that makes a difference.

I hear you. I think it has more to do with the solenoid manufacturer. On my system at my house, the thing sounds like a jackhammer. I used the SAME DEVICE to try and locate my dad's valves, and you could hardly hear them 6" away....

Hello! Thank you for this video. Dumb question. I have valves that are leaking but I don't know where the valve boxes are. When I'm using the chat-r-box, can I leave the water turned off -- and just have the box/electricity active? Or does the water to the sprinkler need to be on as well? Thanks!

No need for water. Water can be off. My system uses a pump to pull water from the lake, and I kept the pump off. All you’re looking for or rather listening for is the solenoid noise turning on and off rapidly

I know where my valve box is but I can't find one of my sprinkler heads. Any ideas on how to locate it?

@@locutist turn the valve on, look for the sprinkler head to pop up. If one doesn’t, let it run for a while and look for a big puddle….

I wonder if thumping the valve like that is bad for the valve. Does it shorten the life at all? Is it likely to aggravate a valve which is close to wearing out?
@RVPastorKevin
@RVPastorKevin 20 дней назад
I doubt it. It’s just the solenoid opening and closing, energizing an electromagnet. Wouldn’t cause any wear whatsoever.
