A local landowner called me and said he had done some research on one of his farms and found a few places worth metal detecting. The sites were a mid-1800s homesite, a possible Long Hunter’s Camp, a place that showed four houses on the old maps, and a steamboat landing along the Cumberland River. We hunted the spots in the order listed above and didn’t find anything to write home about until we finally hit the steamboat landing. Within 10 minutes of hunting, Larry dug the FIND OF A LIFETIME; it was a beautiful 8 Reale piece of Spanish silver.
