Only 10% of the people on SMA are expats. Of course, the overwhelming majority of the people you’ll see are Mexicans.

I have to agree with you. It’s out of control. I sleep with earplugs and a sound machine going and it helps.

That’s why we recommend living outside of centro - especially if you are sensitive to noise

Contrast that with the United States in which people murder unarmed civilians; white supremacists kill at will; mass shootings, etc etc. If it is so dangerous, if it is so bad, why do all you gringos keep moving there? Including the millions of you have refuse to obey Mexicos immigration laws and you stay in the country illegally?

San Miguel de Allende is not a good place for anyone with mobility limitations

I think most cities and towns in Mexico have a variety of parks. But I do think closer to Mexico City is very green. Like Valle de Bravo or Tepoztlan are nice options So is Chiapas. San Cristóbal Although Guanajuato and Querétaro are also lush So many options!

@@MexicoRelocationGuide Oh thanks! Great info. I actually meant a neighborhood within SMA that has more green and is also walkable to Centro. Sorry! I didn't make that clear. Also, you talk about utilities so thoroughly. I appreciate that. Do you have any comments on internet within people's homes? I am hearing different things on this. Thank you again, Mariana!

Guadiana and Benito Juárez parks are very green and peaceful...and walkable to centro.

@@jennyandrievna4627 There aren't really any other than the ones mentioned above, and that area is Very pricy (IMO) because of the park and being adjacent to the center. We looked for "green" areas for months and never found one. it's too dry here with desert like weather. It was below freezing here last night as well, I was not aware how cold it gets here! Anyway, we bought in a colonia a 25 minute flat (most areas are very hilly) walk to the centro, and we have a couple few 1-block-squared parks, but there is no grass. The exception to this that I have seen is in some gated communities where they water their grass daily and charge the homeowners a maintenance fee for it. These also have 24/7 security and noise rules, so they tend to be quiet. (also roosters etc are not permitted) Hope that helps!

San Miguel de Allende has far more extranjeros living there than Guanajuato by a lot. Guanajuato tends to be more traditional and less expensive

Definitely there are far far less expensive rentals. But most of these are not to the standards that I know most of our customers want

Hello Joaquín, good afternoon. I'm a Real Estate agent in San Miguel de Allende. I know that you didn't ask me but my opinion is that Ciudad Maderas is not a good investment. There are several reasons, but in general, I wouldn't buy a lot there. Have a great day

@@joaquindiazgarcia5343 hola! Mira, lo que no me gusta de Ciudad Maderas y por eso creo que no es una buena opción es que los terrenos son muy pequeños y son demasiados. Eso hace una densidad muy alta que si todos construyeran provocará un residencial muy apretado. Además, Comonfort no tiene mucha plusvalía. Me imagino que te atrae por el tema de las mensualidades bajas, es así? De ser esa la razón, pues no está mal porque no hay tantas opciones. Sin embargo, si tienes unos $200,000 o más, te puedes encontrar opciones de terrenos más amplios y que podrás disfrutar más y si un día lo necesitas vender no te cueste tanto trabajo. Lo que yo he visto es que cuando alguien quiere vender su terreno en desarrollos tipo Maderas, no lo puede vender porque hay decenas de personas que están ofreciendo su terreno al mismo tiempo. Te pongo un ejemplo: hay terrenos en un residencial que se llama Quinta Real a las afueras de San Miguel. Si entras a páginas como Mercado Libre vas a ver muchísimos terrenos en venta de particulares de ese lugar. Son tantos que si quieren vender, tienen que malbaratar. Yo me dedico a bienes raíces y te puedo dar opciones y no voy a resultar insistente o incómodo para ti, no es mi estilo. Lo que sí necesito para darte opciones es saber un poquito más de tus necesidades, planes, presupuesto, etc. Te doy mi email y con mucho gusto nos podemos comunicar por ahí. Yes it is very dog friendly. There are lots of parks that allow dogs. As long as you pick up after them 😊

What about rentals? We have 4 xoloitzcuintli and are nervous that we will not be able to find a rental for that many dogs. Does the Mexico Relocation Guide have a list of dog friendly landlords that understand not everyone has just one tiny small lapdog, but that there are actually families with actual dogs that they cannot just abandon? @@MexicoRelocationGuide

it is the responsibility depending on what the contract or lease says. Fumigating isn't expensive, so tenants usually choose to do it on their own dime.

There is crime like any other city in the world. But we still believe it is very low and peaceful to live in San Miguel de Allende.

I mean just because there is Starbucks doesn’t mean it’s not México It is still authentically colonial and has a lot of charm. But I get it. It’s not for everyone

I lived in San Miguel de Allende 6 magical years and all I can say is PARADISE heaven on earth. They accomplished a great combination of a mix with old architecture with modern lifestyle. Only 1 Starbucks in Centro located in a Hacienda type mini mansion that makes you want to stay all day. The town is full of love, history, culture, music, art lots of it and the best 5 star hotels and restaurants. Fid I mentioned perfect weather all year round?? It's a privilege to live in San Miguel de Allende PERIOD!!

I think San Miguel de Allende is beautiful- doesn’t mean that other places aren’t also pretty. Each city in Mexico is unique and beautiful in its own way. Don’t you think?
