Irene, what you said about showing people our work and just saying “I made this and I’m happy” was so much what I needed to hear. In fact I was listening to the recording of the call in my car and I pulled in to a parking spot so I could rewind and I wrote what you said in my phone journal. Thank you.
Thanks so much Louise and Team for the free lessons this week! I have taken this FYJ several times and each time I learn something new about myself. I also appreciate the message that if you get stuck you can do these exercises over and over again!
I'm so happy that I decided to try "Find your joy taster course". As a beginner it gave me so much to work on and learn from. I plan on going over all four lessons over and over again to get really comfortable and find my style. Thankyou so much !!
've been enjoying your course from Denver, Colorado. I teach 5 year olds in general education and I SO appreciate your view of being an artist. Everyone is an artist until someone tells them that aren't. I have had such joy exploring your assignments. It has been a breath of fresh air to see and hear your perspectives on painting and mark making. I cannot tell you how appreciative I am of you for offering this course for FREE. I can't imagine how much work it is for you, your coaches and your helpers to put something like this on. Many thanks and Happy art making to you!
Thank you so much to Louise and the team for such an inspiring and brilliantly presented gift which has influenced my imagination incredibly. For a “Taster” you have been exceedingly generous, for which I am very grateful. Unfortunately I will not be joining the 12 week programme because I’m in my late 70s and have no ambition to develop a career in art. I can,and do, enjoy art without thinking of the future. But I shall continue to subscribe and follow your podcasts because of how inspiring they are.
what Irene said made me cry SHARE YOUR WORK and don't apologize for it, just the reminder that I am exactly on the right track with sharing from whats in my heart even though I don't feel super competent in my work yet❤🔥
Gosh I love what each of you said, and thank you Jamie & Astrid for all of your support too. I am completely blown away by what Irene said very early on about being like a child “look what I made”… there is no shame or embarrassment, they are happy with what they’ve created. Irene’s words for me were full of light and love and TRUTH that went directly into my heart. Wow. Thank you, all of you. And Louise, thank you for creating the taster course and giving all so freely, you are amazing and so generous ❤❤❤
I really enjoyed these lessons. I haven’t used my acrylic paints in over 20 years. You sparked a renewed interest. And it was great to use up all the old paints so now I can go buy new ones can continue finding my JOY!
I have enjoyed this taste of your course enormously! You are generous and fun with your knowledgeable experience. When I have the means, I will be happy to join you and all on this amazing extended adventure. I have found great joy this week. Thank you so much!
Thank you, Louise! I've not been able to attend live sessions but have thoroughly enjoyed this experience. I'll be repeating the exercises off and on from now on. I'm very new to abstraction and to acrylics, and this taster course has given me SO much to build on.
Thank you for the Taster classes! I am a beginner and over the last year have concentrated on the technical aspects of painting but the Taster classes have taken me to the start of a new journey, an exciting and freeing journey. Thank you for your generosity, Louise.
Thank you so much Louise for this wonderful free course. This is my 3rd time, and I loved it each time. Learned so much every year. It really has helped my art so much, finding out what I like, who I am and what sparks my interest.
I love what Irene said. And I think she was talking to me. Because it's what I do every single time I show anyone anything I've painted. I say look at this, it's a work in progress but I'm sorry it's not very good. I need to stop doing that. It's so hard not to do but I really need to work on that. Thanks for the insight Irene. That's brilliant advice. ❤️
Regarding abstract art, that's what I love about it: the freedom to add my own meaning to it, to 'discover' things no-one else can see. It's sooo personal😍
Thank you! I have missed the live sessions, but have enjoyed the techniques you have presented, especially ba reminder to use different tools and experiment! ❤
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this with us. Love the insights! Love the experimentation & assignments. Sorry I didn't have a lot of time but I have been following along. Thanks again! Gigi from Littleton, Colorado, USA 💙💜❤💛💚
A tip for the lady who asked about cleaning paint from her nails: I scratch a bar of soap to get the soap under my nails- presto ! Easy clean up of fingernails!
Thankyou dear Louise and team for the free taster . I couldn’t watch any of the lives because I live in New Zealand and it’s the middle of the night ! However I have managed to do the exercises although I know I haven’t really let go yet . The messy painting is very hard for me although I know all paintings have the ugly stage ! But I manage to push through that stage . I will do the exercises again and try to love the ugliness !!! Thankyou for these ideas . ❤️
I think that appreciating abstract art is challenging for people because it is about feeling; unless they are willing to be vulnerable and discover how it makes you feel. I started painting almost every day and then went to a (GIANT) museum. Suddenly i was all Wow, and OMG, and feeling first, THEN looking at technique etc. It was pure joy.
Thank you so much Louise. This year will not be possible I just finished VCP so my course budget is closed for this year. I loved every minute of it and who knows I may register in a year or 2 . Wish you the best .
Just watching the reply now! Thank you for this free workshop, enjoyed doing it, but I found out that it is not for me, to abstract! Regards, Sarina van der Watt!
Louise, life does not allow for me to take this course right now. When do you think yo u'll offer it again in the future? I am totally hooked on the idea, just need the right timing!
On the live calls I haven’t been able to see the questions & opportunity to ask questions? I can get it on the catchups but just not on the live calls? I have joined RU-vid & Zoom…don’t know what to do?
A question I have had for quite some time is this::: I show in galleries in my area, they seem to "like" the more realistic work I do, it sells, etc... I have in the last 3 years been making non representational abstract/mixed media. I love both styles for different reasons, but the abstract is a "hard " sell, as if people do not understand it. I of course will never stop doing it. So question: Have you been in this situation and would you say you are a serious artist if you do both styles, I will talk to gallery owners and they want to always see 12-15 pieces in one style. ????
Are you asking about the paid Find Your Joy course? If so, Louise and the coaches are involved for the 12 weeks of the course only. However you have access to all of the materials for 12 months from the start of the course. It is not a ‘forever’ course. The facebook group will be active indefinitely. I did the course in 2021 and I’m sure this information is still correct.
