Thanks for the plug you guys. Couldn't agree more on finding a good fleet owner. Lol. You guys were so awesome to work with. :) Super Dave Betancourt is trying to get into a new ride at the end of Feb beginning of March. That will pop a ride open if that comes to fruition.👍
I couldn't agree more. Having a good fleet owner is a major key to be successful. We've definitely had our fair share of bad owners, one with Panther and one really bad one when we first came on with FedEx. The owner we're with now is absolutely amazing! We love her to death. We couldn't be happier. Thanks for the video, Y'all!
Another great video. I just started this expiditing career. I researched info asked questions. I am driving for a fleet owner Jon Clemens. Great man. Always there
Hi Jason and Heather always been interested in the American trucking industry/companies ~ love your videos guys, take care of yourselves, be safe and Happy Trails. Kind Regards and God Bless. Alistair Bentley, Rotorua New Zealand.
Good information. I agree with you 100%. It doesn't matter how good the carrier is, if you as a driver don't produce for them; they won't keep you. Regardless if your delivering auto parts or pizza. Do good work. Be a guy they can count on and they will take care of the producers.
Thank you! I wish I could talk my husband into expediting, he wants to do tractor trailer and I want to do straight truck expediting. LOL what to do what to do...🤷♀️
This Video comes at a Perfect time! My husband and I have gotten so many calls from different fleet owners after being pre qualified for Panther these last two days and we have been comparing the info and it’s been so difficult to choose. Like you said we don’t know who is “blowing smoke” etc.
Jason, Heather thank you two so much for these videos. My wife and I are 4 years out from being able to retire from our current jobs at our 911 Dispatch center and transition into the life of being expeditors. So these videos help with my research and questions I have. I have been following you guys since your days with Panther when you drove for a fleet owner and you guys are great! How did you decide in your research that surface or general freight was best for you vs going with Fed Ex custom critical and hauling refer freight ? Again thank you and stay safe out there JP
jpunit840 Thank you! We are so glad our videos have helped you all. Back when we started FedEx CC didn’t allow pets for their white glove (specialized freight) and we weren’t willing to go on the road without them. We got all our qualifications & clearances to haul specialized freight which allows us to make great rates without having to do refer but the freight FedEx CC hauls for refer loads is great paying too. :)
As I remember it, you left your fleet owner because Panther dispatchers were misbehaving. When fleet owners fly-the-flag of a particular carrier, they don't have alot of control over the surly dispatchers.
Paul Sommerhalder Hi Paul 👋 We left our fleet owner because we bought our own truck .. kept it on at Panther for a bit then moved to LS which is a better fit for owner operators 😉
Thanks Jason & Heather, this video was something I needed my hubby to watch so we both be in sync to what we are planning for our future, as always you had the answers to my questions and then some. Stay safe & blessed 🤗
Hi Jason and Heather, a friend and I are going to give expediting a try. We are exploring the all important question of which fleet owner to go with. Am sending you an email on this subject.
My biggest mistake was not asking the fleet owner if I could talk with the drivers who worked for him. Had I done that, it would have saved me from getting involved with a person I would not Ever worked for. Tip. If an owner will not allow you to speak with thier drivers, that is a huge Red Flag! The first one never paid me and the second was a cheapskate control freak who never fixed Anything. Paid my dues, lesson learned!
Ray. You absolutely can if you dedicate yourself to learning the business and are good at managing your money. I'm five years in as an owner operator and this is the best job I have ever had ! Go for it and Good Luck !
