I find and take a look at one of the best petroglyph panels in AZ in my opinion. some amazing and unique rock art here. thanks for watching. #ancienthistory #petroglyphs #arizona #adventure #googleearth
The next time you film try to pan slower. Moving/panning too fast makes the picture blurry. You are also very correct in saying how beautiful the area is. I too can see why someone would want to live there. Beautiful scenery. Good hunting and grazing area. Plenty of plants to use as a food source. Thanks for showing the world this area.
I'm quite enjoying this video. Thank you very much for creating it. Arizona holds many fond memories for me from many years ago. As a note for the next time you speak about lichen, it is pronounced the same as liken. Now back to the petroglyphs!
Good stuff sir. I found a site on the downward side of south mountain near Phoenix that had an explorers name and date etched on a low rock. Because of my age my memory is not as sharp. But I have a photo of it in a box. Famous explorer who was likely out on a silver and gold prospecting/exploration tour. Many mining holes I nearly fell into. So if your hiking about out there watch out for the mine shafts that go straight down.
I believe the name you're talking about is Marcos de niza! Thanks for watching! I just posted another rock art video check it out if you're interested!
I noticed that some of the human type figures had straight legs and some had both legs bowed. My guess is that the ones with bowed legs were depicting that figure and possibly others in the panel with bowed legs were sitting. Maybe they had a conference....lol
I know ASU has excavated and documented alot of the ruin sites out here, and I'm sure some papers have been done, but I don't think there is an official archive that's accessible I could be wrong tho.
The petroglyphs could possibly be from two different cultures. The first created the original figures and a second cultural group came later and used the scratching technique. Possibly to kill or weaken the power of the original figures.
A lot of these seem like graffiti drawings from different timelines. Some are more modern than others... And the ones with single lines and spiked heads? Fuh-git-about-it.... 😂
