Clever and fun idea. I remember being told years ago that the floorboards under hotels in goldmine areas was almost as good as the mines. Miners dropped gold and it went through the rough boards.

The pin at @18:00 (and possibly the glass beads) look to be bits of tumbling media used to polish the stones. Oh, in case it hasn't been said yet, that folded over bit of jewelery thing is the back of an earring.

Love what you do, Chris! You and Gadzee must get yourselves a hardness or diamond tester, the handheld electrical conductivity aspect will make you interested, as you're on creeks with many precious and semiprecious gemstone types, not just for the green one and clear ones from the video. Others sites? Former jewellery stores, older paving? Older pubs and jewellery shops on or near diggings towns, I'd seen a pan, pick, shovel, winder combo gold digger brooch marked on the back for a town in NW Vic that is now only a dirt road intersection, no town any more, but had a jeweller's! You love your research, be other gold exchanges, former banks, with deeper, older gutters to classify and pan! Old episode of "Gold Fever" old man did a Denver concreted former creek, still depositing gold from beneath the city to drop-offs he'd rigged a hand pumped bucket with a hose attachment, you should try replicate this, with complimentary acknowledgements, I liked that series, must if you've not seen it. Onyas!

7 years ago channel "Ask Jeff Williams" did something similar when he posted "panning for gold in New York City". I remember seeing that on TV before I knew he had a channel. He's a prospector and geologist in Arizona. Fairly educational when he's not doing something stupid like spitting in a bowl of chile or pretending to be a quick draw shooter.

I often start yelling at the screen that they should do this and lo and behold they do it. I was doing this to you about the gutters and the next scene you were doing it. It is amazing how much POWER I have. This is why I no longer comment until the end. Small beads could be from bead blaster. Could be left over from a restoration project somewhere on the street. I like Sodalite, in sphere form it looks like a forming world.

Could the gold be eroding out of the mortar used to hold the stones in place? In gold bearing areas it is common to use tailings or outright river sands in construction.

Cool! I'd like to share a story about when I was crippled & seeing lots of doctors for a couple decades, I prospected the alleys of Phoenix & under bushes waiting for my appointments. I found a Hota Buddah Ojimi from a quartz shattered Netski from the Hahn Dynasty in apple green jadeite! Obviously brought here with the Chinese after the Boxer Rebellion...as far as I've found there are only 2 now, the other in a Lyles antique book was dug up & covered in calcite, not that pretty. Cool show you guys

I suspect your glass beads are ‘chicken marbles’. Birds eat the broken glass from your car accidents. They stay in the gizzard to grind up seeds. When they wear the edges down and turn into spheres, they pass through the bird. And that’s how chicken marbles are made. (Yes, it’s a real thing.)

The little round silica beads might be from kids toys - they are used as stuffing and come in a range of sizes from about 0.5mm to 5 mm diameter. One broken toy could have thousands of them inside. The polished iron looks more like hematite and can be magnetic.
