I dislike the attitude that they ‘own’ the space in front of their shops (They probably avoid most of the taxes which pay for the infrastructure and police anyways). I believe in being courteous. If they asked politely for you to come back when they were not open, and this was no big inconvenience to you then why not accommodate it. But that’s wasn’t their approach so carry on.

Do you check near the side of the road as well. Last year i found a real 22 karat gold earring outside a cemetery by me and i think this month i found i think a replica tiffany and co heart pendant and broken links for the bracelet for it on the side of the road. If you find any more gold you can melt it down with the rest of the gold you've found a make a gold bar to sell

I found 30 quid on the streets of London 🥳 First I found £10 in east London, then 2 hours later £15 in south London, next day another £5 in east London 😎 2 weeks earlier I found £20 south London.. some one is looking down on me 😇 Just need to find a million quid now lol
