In this video I go in search of some great images close to MY home to once again, and prove that you don't need an airline ticket to to find great images on your doorstep. A bit of a handicap it seemed at the start as I had very little battery power so I was up against it and had to make every click of the shutter count.

Nice job! The last one of the brown leaves would be my keeper. The other two were nice. But you nailed with the leaves. Thanks for teaching me the little things also matter.

Thanks for sharing, great photos. I especially like the 3rd one. Great tip on using your light from the watch. It made me think, oh I have a light on my iPhone. Cool.

Nice but I think most people just call them rowan trees. Don’t think anyone actually refers to them as mountain ash unless reading a book. They’re the same but totally unrelated to the common ash.
@SimonBoothPhotography
@SimonBoothPhotography 9 месяцев назад
Sorbus vs fraxinus. I've always referred to them as mountain ash because an old friend and former mentor did. They are commonly found in upland areas.

Thank you Simon; excellent as always. The rowan leaves may look good in monochrome as it is all about the texture. So glad you lose & forget things; it's not just me. Missed the red trousers, I am still looking for them!

Lovely vid Simon. I was going to ask 'what about the white frames around the images and then Boom! - at the end = ) Love the way you see these and good for you too for carrying on despite the battery situation and even leaving the reality of your light not working. Love the way you see these scenes and three lovelt images, well presented all together at the end too. Brill work as always Mr Booth! Cheers buddy. Ewan

Simon that last image is wonderful. I enjoy watching your process in the field. It still amazes me how you find some of your compositions. The music matched with your soft voice reminds me of the painter Bob Ross. Very relaxing and calming.

Judging from the tremendous results, you must have been wearing your Lucky Red Trousers underneath and out of sight. Great stuff Simon. I particularly liked the mushroom shot. I could have burned through 3 batteries on that log and not have found a keeper. Staying tuned for your next film.

Hey Simon, I loved how the rules you set for yourself in the beginning must adapt to the situation. I find it’s always experimenting with what you’ve got and going with the flow works best. As always, I enjoy the sharing of you knowledge about the plants and wildlife around you. Great triptych and lovely video.

I loved the mushroom shot. I take a lot of mushroom shots myself but I have never used artificial lighting. I'll have to get a portable light and give it a try.

Losing things seems to happen a bit lately, I know I have a cleaning kit for the camera, but it doesn’t want to be found. Bought another so what’s the betting it turns up now. Love how you compose those great subjects, glad the battery lasted.

I get excited when you start shooting dead fallen leaves....the browner the better...because I know what's coming! BTW, I carry a LumeCube Panel Mini in my bag which has a soft diffuser. It has a lumen output adjustment which I find it perfect for lighting all the little things on the ground.

I'm another happy user of a LumeCube set at 5600K for fill light on macro shots including mushroom stalks/gills. It often makes a world of difference, not only for correcting dim areas but also for adding dimensionality on days with dull light.

Another great video Simon, I thought the images got better as the video progressed - particularly enjoyed the last image …. One that only you would find!! The mushroom image was great composition too but I think slightly too bright or a vignette may have helped. I do hope you found the battery charger!

It's often the way that they get better as we get our eye in. I did find the charger, but only last weekend. It was down the side of the seat in the van!

Hi Simon thanks for the comment I not sure that was quite what was said on the golden rule video having rewatched it but I don’t want you to think I am trying to score points or something like that but you need to remember that amateur photographers like my self hang on every word of professional s like yourself for advice etc so I will not comment on this particular item again ps there’s nothing wrong with red trousers lol
@SimonBoothPhotography
@SimonBoothPhotography 9 месяцев назад
Hi Leslie, Feel free to email me for further clarification if you still think I made a mistake. I may have misunderstood what you meant?

Love the video and the images but I am a little bit confused on previous video I suggested there was nothing with removing a dead leaf from a composition which you took exception to but you talked about removing items from two of these images seems like contradiction to me to remove items or not
@SimonBoothPhotography
@SimonBoothPhotography 10 месяцев назад
Hi Leslie I'm ever so sorry if my response to your comment on the film "My Golden Photography Rule" came across crass. It wasn't the intention at all. Again, sorry about that. I'll try and explain. I did say at the end in the reply that I do move bits of things so long as they are not part of what attracted me to it in the first place. In the instance of the other film, the removal of that big leaf would have modified the composition to its detriment in my view. The items I was suggesting to move on this film were not in anyway detrimental, but easily resolved distractions. I hope that helps and restores your faith in some of the cryptic blurb I often spout out when the camera is rolling. Nothing is scripted here. Thanks again.
