The question that came in GATE 2017, very tricky to solve and many people made mistake while solving this question. Watch video to know exactly how to solve these questions.
What is d ans if the options are given in mullikens trms . 3T1g or 3T2g ... $ what is in case of configurations d^5 low spin . Bcoz for high spin i get it by orgel diag.
Sir had you not taken CF splitting concept the ml value comes to be 6,i.e, 2 electrons in +2 and 2 electrons in +1 orbitals. So should we always use cfse concept in such cases?
इसका आंसर cr[CN]6 3G nahi hoga kya kyuki t2g orbitals ke liye l value +2 +1 -1 hoti hain dz2 to eg orbital h iske liye l value 0 hoti h dz2 orbital me to strong field lingand ke karan electron jayega hi nahi Please confirm sir in gate 2017 question ground state term symbol dx2 dx2y2 0. -2 dxy dxz dyz +2 +1 -1
DINESH KUMAR SAINI, Is question me already maine mention kia h ki option ³G nhi hoga qki question me sirf electronic state ya metal cation na de k poora complex dia h, ye ek trick question tha, aur poora complex hone ki wajah se hme ligand k effect ko bhi consider krna hoga... Isliye strong feild ligand hone ki wajah se electronic configuration change hogi aur answer ³H hoga...
All 'Bout Chemistry Strong Field ki vajah se electron dz2 orbital me jayega hi nahi isiliye Sigma L value {+2×2+1+(-1)=4 4 ke liye G hi hota hain Sir dz2 orbital eg orbital hone ke karan dz2 me electron nahi jaayega Please confirm Sir please
DINESH KUMAR SAINI, I think you're confused in ml values of d-orbitals. The ml values are -2, -1, 0, 1, 2 for dx²-y², dz², dxy, dxz, dyz respectively. Now I think it'll be clear yo you...
All 'Bout Chemistry OK Sir thanks I confirmed Kuch book me dz2 ki ml value 0 de rakhi hain Yeh ml values jo apne batai hain wo hi fix h na d orbitals ke liye dz2 orbital ki ml value kuch book me 0 de rakhi hain likely that jaise pz orbital ki ml value 0 hoti h
IN this question complex is given thats why we have taken effect of ligands in it. if it is simple ion then we dont have to worry about the splitting and alll..
Hey they asked about the ground state term not the first excited state term..for d4 system pentate D is a ground state term..triplet H is first excited term
Noor Fathima, check out GATE 2017 Question Paper and Answer Key on GATE Official website. This is an exceptional case asked in exam and it should be done like this.
No, it's not like that, Cr+2 with strong feild ligand is given, now whenever you have question like this where you're given with complex then your ligand will also play role in deciding term symbol. That's why the effect of CN ligand is taken over here. For reference you can see James E Huhyee, or Meissler and Tarr there many examples like this are given.
The filling of electron would be different for tetrahedral arrangement as T2 will go up and E will come down, Now it depends on question that what will be value of sigma ml there.
