Finding Lost Souls in the River | Nature Photography

In this video, my plan to shoot a local landmark at dawn did not turn out as expected, plan B was even more of a flop but finding lost souls in the river...this was not on my radar at all. Nature Photography is often unpredictable but this day and the images were just a bit weird...even for me.

Wow, the first two images are my favourites. To my imagination these are the faces of ancient warrior Vikings! But others will see different things. They are works of art and I hope they get onto some walls. Thanks for taking us with you on this walk.

I'm waiting for somebody to invent a personal force field generator that keep us (and our equipment) dry when on location. I had the same experience this week. Well done for getting something out of the trip.

Simon, thanks for braving/enduring such crappy weather to bring us this great video and unique photos! There's also a learning here for us all....that there a good photos to be made no matter what...you just need to really see with different eyes and exercise a little creativity. I have no idea how you do it! After plan A went awry I'd have probably given up! Persistent to the end. Those images were breathtaking. especially the last one. How do you do that? The detail, the clarity. just brilliant. I never fail to be impressed by your work. Thank you Simon

Thanks Jill. I try to maintain the thought that something will always turn up. Though that rain was a nuisance. That being said. Had it not been so bad, I wouldn’t have ended up where I did. Fate!!

Intriguing images Simon - I don't know I have seen anything like them which is a high compliment. I get excited by this sort of abstract nature photography and the novel approach to it. Loving the direction of some of your recent experimental photography.

You have given a good lesson on how to adapt to the changing and unreliable conditions which, for me, often mean I become disheartened and despondent. Hey Simon - you poor bugger. Its dreadful enough that we try and take photos out in the rain, but vlogging in that is doubly hard. I got conditions like that in Torridon recently but didnt have the good sense to stop... i carried on LOL, Lovely to see you out each week and persisting no matter what the gods throw at you. The faces appeared after when I studied the images in more detail on the larger screen, but I could see the chosen settings were creating patterns that I liked. I processed them in such a way that you are drawn to them.

For these sorts of rainy conditions, I keep some disposable shower caps in my camera pack. When the first drops hit and I plan to remain outside, I just open one and drape it over the camera.
