I was born into a Pentecostal church, and once I got to 10 years old I started to question things and wondered why I was so scared leaving church all the time. So I told my mom I wanted to check out the Kingdom Hall which is Jehovah’s Witness and it’s what my grandparents were part of, so she didn’t see an issue with it… and omg i thought fear of end times were bad with the Pentecostal church…. I left that church crying because I didn’t want to have fear in my heart when talking about Jesus. So I stopped going at 12 years old and started to read the Bible on my own with no religion attached to it. And that was the best decision I’ve ever made!! No one can tell me what’s in the Bible without me already knowing. It’s crazy how many religions run on fear. Thanks for sharing your stories because it’s so relatable❤️

I’ve heard someone explain it like this: consciousness is energy. Energy never dies, so our consciousness must go somewhere when our body, or vessel basically, dies. It’s a scientific explanation, and I really liked it. I don’t know about a higher being or a Heaven or Hell, but I can appreciate the fact that we really do have a “soul.”

Learning this and KNOWING this made my brain literally hurt! Now I LIVE by this! The more you live it, the more you see it. THAT is the very nature of this thing we call reality. Pretty much EVERYTHING 'they' taught us is the opposite of what really is.❤

Shelise and Amanda - such amazing women. I wish I could express how much I admire you and the impact you both are having. I wish I could express how I feel, even as a silly RU-vid viewer who has had nothing to do with any LDS church, how much of a connection I feel towards you. I appreciate how you both are able to tap into that woo woo universal oneness. Please know that on those hard days, I, or somebody else from the comments, is lifting you up and supporting you.

I watch both C2C and Amanda Rae. I have worried about all you guys because you spend so much mental time in such dark places. Seeing you all together feels wonderfully light and healing. Shelise and Jonathan enjoy Amanda's humor, but they're not going to let her use it to block feelings she needs to deal with. Amanda recognizes and values the fact that empathy is a superpower that Shelise and Jonathan share. Amanda will also make sure they don't forget that reinjuring yourself on someone else's trauma is no help to anyone. I love watching you guys together.

Your “What happens after death” was so amazing to me. I have stage 4 cancer and I’m thinking about this a lot lately. I guess I’m a little closer to finding out so of course I wonder. I was raised Catholic and never really believed the Bible after death thing. I’m curious to hear how the other people who have escaped the high demand religions think about these things. Love your videos and have been a fan since “Escaping Polygamy”

Great podcast Amanda and guests. You covered a lot and it was a pleasure to hear. Amanda you are such a brave woman and with such integrity. You’ve taught me so much about organisations that exist shrouded in mystery to us outsiders, you have every single receipt! One thing I can say from experience is that raising kids with age appropriate sex ed from an early age fosters a relationship where the child can come to you after hearing something elsewhere and trust you to tell them the truth. Also when kids are fully informed they are also much quicker to assert when they don’t believe someone should touch without spoken consent.

Thank you for another fantastic video. I really appreciated Johnathan understanding that so many women have had traumatic situations and one woman's trauma might not be trauma to the next woman. It is so hard to be open and vulnerable, especially if you've rarely seen "normal" and have not had it for yourself. Integrity is one of the "pillars" that should be taught as well as critical thinking.

Back in the 1970’s I worked with a young woman from Mesa, AZ at Zale’s Jewelers corporate offices. I was about 19 or 20 and she was about 23. She told me that her Mormon parents had forced her to abort her half black baby at five months gestation, even though her boyfriend was willing to marry her. I think she was 17 at the time. It was heart wrenching to hear her story. The managers were also Mormon and I didn’t work there very long because our manager treated her so poorly as though she was being punished. Very creepy.

As an atheist, I don't view myself as anti-religion. I'm not arrogant enough to think that my view is absolutely the way it is. Believing that I am the only one responsible for my life and the direction of it is what gets me through the day, but I have no guarantees that I, or anyone who is religious is right. I know what gets me through the day, I don't judge anyone for what gets them through the day. Some of us could be right, all of us could be right, or all of us could be wrong. You're experience and beliefs are completely valid and just because mine are different, does not mean that anyone who is religious is wrong.

I respect the way you guys are wanting to give your kids all the perspectives and let them critically think. I do teach my children the principles of my faith but I repeatedly tell them, especially as they get older that I don't want them to believe because I said so or because of just fear of hell but because they see all the 'answers' the world presents to us and all the evidence there and want them to choose what they see as the truth. We don't always 'feel' good about all aspects of truth but I do think we will have peace with truth. It's hard to explain. Just my humble opinion though. Thanks for what you do!

At my place of worship, I grew up around ALL types of people- black, white, Asian, East Indian, Hispanic, gay, straight, transgender, poor, rich, Democrat, Republican, all people. I was raised that everyone is Buddha and should be treated like one. Human life is the most precious and through dialogue is how we connect with others. I was taught that we all are connected Ted throughout the world wether we see it or not. The ultimate goal is to have World Peace through dialogue and respect for others. I never understood as I got older why people had an issue with the LBGTQA+ community because they are human just like the rest of us. Even the person we have as the president of our organization isn’t seen as better than you or I. He is our mentor yes, leading be example but he is on the same level as the rest of us. My Buddhist faith has taught me to respect other faiths and to learn about them before I judge and to seek heart to heart dialogue with others. It’s through these dialogues we can make connections. My parents encouraged me to find the faith belief system that worked for me. We were never made to have to practice just cause my parents did. We all chose to follow suite on our own.
