This actually happened to me once, minus the happy ending.

If you ever find out your relationship that youve been in for a LONG time started as a joke, it can either mean 2 things: 1. They fell for you, and now genuinely care for and love you 2. Theyre dedicated as F*CK to the joke

A situation I managed to actually avoid. She told me to meet her in a very public location, our schools auditorium at a specific time. I felt sus so I actually showed up much earlier and stood behind the curtain, heard her and her friends joking about it and trying to set up the prank by getting people to show up. I walked out and never showed up, I went and bought ice cream and sat on the outside lunch benches in peace enjoying the view. She was pissed and I heard it from all her friends still saying I blew her off and I'm a horrible person, as if I didnt know it was a prank the whole time.

Back when My friend (let's call him Mike) was in college, he was dared to ask this girl out (let's call her Kate). To our surprise Kate said yes and they started dating. To put it mildly they were the happiest lovey-dovey couple in our school. It all came crashing down, when an other girl (let's call her Bebe) who had feeligns for my friend told, Kate that thier relationiship was based on a dare. Kate was quiet, shy, (and I admit really cute and good looking) girl who had poor selfesteem, was devastated to say the least. Mike almost offed him self because of this and the reason why Bebe told Kate about this, was to make them brake up and was hoping that confessing to Mike, he would fall in love with her instead. It took me and two of my other friends to hold Mike back, so he wouldn't punch Bebes teeth in, when she told my friend that she was the reason why Kate broke up with him. Some five years passed and Mike and Kate eventually made up, started dating again and are now married.

Yeah.... This is how my first relationship ended...... It never stopped being a prank. For almost 2 years.

As someone who was asked out as a dare multiple times, this video is both deeply cathartic and painful. The fact that asking people out on a dare is a thing is severly messed up and it's underestimated how much something like that fucks with your self-esteem long-term. Something like this happened to me in high school. She went out with me for a month on a dare. I still remember what I said to her: "You should have at LEAST made it a bet and got some money out if it!" Strange, I know, but I haven't had the best self image. It's funny. Honestly, this would be an instant break up. That's not something I could forgive, and trust is something that is very hard for me ro rebuild and dull out.

If it all started with a joke/lie, I wouldn't trust that person so easily again, no matter how much they say that everything else was and is real, but I guess that would be my case, I don't know about the others. Good video.

This happened to me too. At the conclusion of the date, her friends dumped a bucket of dishwater on me and made sure they recorded the entire thing and shared it all over campus

I had people confess to me only to laugh at me and mock me when I took it seriously. "Haha do you know who you are?" Now I listen to this kinda stuff to kinda cope with it I guess. The two relationships I did get into i was told "I needed you to forget my ex" and "Well I was just messing aroung" I have given up dating and rejected a few peoples advances because of it. But hearing these is cathartic. Like a nice what-if scenario I could have had =)

I almost feel like our character isn't taking this seriously enough. Maybe I'm just a bit hit headed and spiteful when people do bad things to me, but i wouldn't be fine after just a few hours. It'd take me days, maybe even weeks to recover from learning this

This was definitely worth the wait!! Considering how well you've portrayed specific emotions and tones of voice, I could envision a real-life choreography playing out between the two characters in the story. On the other hand, listeners who immerse themselves into the role of the other-half begin to develop empathy as the story progresses and become fascinated by how it truly grasps their hearts(Perhaps being relatable?). It was amazing to listen to and I'm glad it went extraordinarily well after the hiccup that happened prior to this recording. Hope to see more in the future!

I've been on the opposite side of this one thanks to some "encouragement" at a party, though thankfully she caught me out before I even finished inviting her to the movies. We had a good time, didn't click romantically but got along well enough, and she's still a friend to this day. It's shameful how shortsighted people can be, especially when peer pressure gets involved, but at least your story has a happy ending.

I honestly don’t know how anyone can forgive their partner for this. Trust is something I don’t just give out so liberally. If I was in the listener’s position, I would’ve ended it because now I don’t know what else she could’ve been hiding for that whole year.

This feels so personalized for me, the marathon the Dr pepper the macaroni the chicken, the quiet listener. My entire highschool run I literally talked to NOBODY except for when I absolutely had to, and I'd message or voice chat amongst my insanely large group of friends (3 other guys). This was just too perfect for me personally, especially being a bully magnet before I became a giant in my freshman year always being the victim of other people's dares

This uhhhh, this re-opened some old wounds of mine. Someone did this to me while I was young and not only broke up, but did so publically. It scarred me with trauma and destroyed my personality, changing me. And 10 years later I am still a changed man because of this thing that happened. Just by chance I ran into that person in passing and knew for a fact that she both forgot about me and my name as well as what she had done, but I knew her name and every detail of her face. For anyone who has ever done or considered doing it, be careful playing with someone, you have no idea how much you will have an effect on that persons life.

Had a friend this situation happened to once: his ‘gf’ started dating him as a dare from her friends and, 6 months later, one of said friends finally fessed up to him because she felt awful about what they were doing to him. He’s since recovered and barely thinks about it anymore, thank god, but I can sense a little fears, and maybe even paranoia, in him still when he talks about his current relationships to me that wasn’t present at all before the incident; it really screwed him up and his view on dating. Toying with someone’s heart like that can mentally destroy them as a person, and it’s absolutely disgusting. Just glad he’s doing alright now.

this one actually hits home for me the last person I was with only was ever seeing me as a joke for their friends I was always a little curious as to why she was laughing about something consistently on the phone. One day she had a light drink one afternoon and she let it slip that she was only seeing me because I was pathetic. It gutted me and so I broke it off with her and haven't talked with her since. it makes you feel worthless, and lost like are you even capable of being loved. To be led on like that and finding out they actually didn't care about anything you were about or into. listening to this tore open an old wound I thought had healed c'x

An audio where someone is in the wrong and then has to face the consequences of their actions? That's a brave concept and really uncommon! That the MC opens right off with "no, it was wrong!" and accepts that she has to own her actions is so very good. I really like everything the character did in this one. Definitely thumbs up. The friend, Jenny, on the other hand? Yeah, that girl is right off the rails and needs some 'consequences' of her own. Anyway, great audio story and good delivery.

This hits right in the feels... A girl asked me to go to prom and I was super stoked. I am a huge introvert and was super happy to be able to experience what prom was like. It turned out that she only asked me because she wanted to get into my school's prom to hang out with her friends and I was the only one who didn't have a date. She hung out with me for a few minutes as I said hi to my friends then disappeared. She ghosted me right after that night. This vid brings out the pain but also makes me happy that maybe things could have been different ❤

This was a really great RP with a great happy twist to that concept.

This was an awesome audio. ^_^ And yeah, not only do these dates are because of a dare can be damaging but so to are the ones of "Well, miss popular girl has to date the loner/loser/nerd/introvert/name-every-other-character-trope-that-fits-the-catagory for a short time because they lost a bet." How many of those have come around but rarely ever turn out for the better? Even for the younger people that just think 'it's just a prank' won't know how much this'll impact the one getting pranked negatively, if they haven't already been having a bad part of their life it would surely get worse because this paints them a picture that 'they aren't worth it' to anyone.

I was fearing for many things when I read the title because man, that really does sound horrible and like it would hurt really badly once you find out so I am kind of glad that this didn't end up being so severe I guess. From my understanding this is something that happens when the people involved are still kinda young and immature and it makes sense for immature people to do immature things but that of course doesn't make it any better. That shit is gonna hurt the other party no matter what and I don't wish this upon anybody and feel sorry for everyone who went through an experience like this without the happy ending. Was a good listen either way with quite a few things to think about too, nice one.

Honestly I like this, not everyone gets a happy ending when stuff like this happen, but relationships are about commitment and trust. Doesn't matter how it started, it's all about how it's going and you can see if your partner truly cares about you to keep going

Personally, this would be a dealbreaker for me. It isn’t that our relationship started as a prank - that in itself is sweet, funny, and would actually make a decent plot for a cheesy, made-for-TV summer romcom. What would really bother me is that throughout each milestone of our “relationship” (first real date, first kiss, first declaration of love, etc.) she deliberately, willfully, and intentionally chose to keep this information to herself, purely because of how she knew it would make her look. Instead of respecting me as a true partner and coming clean, she selfishly allowed me to believe that she first went out with me because of a genuine attraction. She lied to my face, to save her face (lying by omission is still lying and “thinking” about bringing it up on several occasions is not the same thing as actually bringing it up). With this new information, I would be unable to stop wondering how much of what she said and did was genuine and how much of it was just part of the prank.

Pretty sure a girl tried pranking me way back in middle school like this. She said she loved me and hugged me. We'd never really spoken. In primary school people used to use me as the butt of a joke where they would have to tell me they liked me, then they'd run back to their group of friends and giggle their heads off. They would always preface it with "its just a joke but" or "this is a date but". And I could always tell when it was going to happen because there would be about half of the girls in my grade huddled together staring at me while I ate my lunch alone.

I'm used to getting my heart broken all the time, its common for someone like me, but unfortunately that's just how our generation works now.

A girl never dated me as a prank but she made me believe that she liked me. She told me how she cared for me, how she liked being around me, how she wanted to rub my [Redacted]. Then when I asked her out she got upset about it and then we got into a whole argument about it. Then after years of not talking to each other, she finally told me that it was all a joke. It was this a multiple of my female friends telling me that their friends liked me when in reality they didn’t want anything to do with me but tried to convince me anyway because it was funny.

I only got asked out by a girl once, by her group of friends and I just fliped them off because I tought it was a prank and didn't even know who the girl was since half the class's girls had the same name, I still don't know if it was a prank or not

The closest thing like this to happen to me was caused due to the actions of a girl I used to be very fond of (she was like an older sister for many years) She was quite friendly at first... but even early on; I subconsciously grew wary of her, as she could sometimes snap at us for seemingly no reason and whether she meant it or not has probably brought me to tears more than anyone else, and for most of my life I considered crying to be a sign of weakness (or more accurately I would believe that those around me would perceive tears as a sign of weakness) and so it was actually a relief when she left We later found out she was a lesbian and is now engaged with a woman who was not only married to a man (she left him for her) but also had 3 kids... saw her last Christmas and when I saw how she looked now; it honestly made my stomach churn... I used to consider her rather attractive but she genuinely looks more like a man than a woman and now the sight of her sickens me to the core (as rude as that might sound) We all thought she was a nice girl but after 7 years or so of living with us after her parents kicked her out; all that went up in smoke... nowadays I can hardly talk to girls that aren't either family or family friends/relative

This (sorta) happened to me, I was in middle school about to graduate to go into high school. I was a quiet kid and this girl that hadn’t really talked to me in our previous 3 years being in the same class started to talk to me right before she was transferred to another class. Essentially, she talked to me only because she felt bad for me. I don’t know if she ever did like me and we dated for a month before she mentioned that she wasn’t sure about her sexuality.. turns out she had feelings for another guy, a friend of mine. It hurt, knowing that she didn’t really ever like me while I was head over heels for her. Part of me still loves her but it’s been a while and I’ve moved on but I wonder how it could’ve gone if I wasn’t me. I think I was also essentially a rebound since she had dated someone else in our class for a year and a half I think. So she needed a rebound and she was also in a heavy depression when we dated. I’m just glad she was doing better a year later when we met up once in high school.
