It was a cloudy and rainy day, but the shells didn't seem to care! They were out in force today; laying on the beach as they pleased! All it took was for one lucky sheller to come along and pick them up (or return them to the water, in the case of those dozen+ stombuses that I needed to rescue)! I really enjoyed this adventure, and I hope you did too.
Part one: • Finding Seashells at H...
Let me know which ones were your favourites ;D and if you enjoyed this and want to see more shell finding videos, I'd appreciate a like or a comment. I read all of them and try to reply when I can. You have no idea how much of a smile you guys put on my face. Thanks everyone!

I didn't even realise that Hervey Bay and it's surrounding beaches had such lovely seashells until I saw "Shellcade Shelling Down Under" - I admire him a lot, and you can also check out his amazing videos here:

Hey Maddie! Another great bivalve day! So many great shells today. But those flats were pretty and no you should never stop filming anything. This channel is about you and your adventures. Whatever they may hold, we are just lucky to be along for the ride. 🐚🧡

G'day Mary 👋🏻💖 Oh yes, it was bivalves and more bivalves (with a side of moon snails) this time at Hervey Bay!! Lots of other great shells too, what am I saying 🤣 Aww Mary, I'm the lucky one; I wouldn't film or share my adventures without you and all of the other people who take the time to watch and support what I do. You make this all possible 🐚😉 Thank you so much for coming along with me 🥰

Oh my gosh…that flat with the deep colors was GORGEOUS!!! 🤩🤩🤩 Loved all the flats!!! The strombus shells were so pretty today too! The dark dogs whelks were fun with their fat bottom lips. Wonderful video, thanks for the adventure Maddie! 🥰🥰🥰

G'day Pam 👋🏻💖 Hehehe, the colour is absolutely stunning on that particular one!! I wonder if it'll fade a little over the next few weeks? I find that some shells do that as they dry out more away from the beach, but no necessarily because they're in the sun and whatnot. Anyway, only time will tell!! Oh yes, I also love the dark dog whelks and their super chunky fat bases; they're my kind of peeps!! As always Pam, thank you for your wonderful comments on each video; I'm so glad that you enjoyed it today 🥰 also, I hope your mom is doing better as well ❤❤❤

G'day Dawn 👋🏻💖 Oh wow, you liked the curved side the most! I guess they are actually the rarer side at this beach; I tend to find more flats here! The opposite is true at the beach I usually go to; all curved sides and NO flats at all! I do like to show a decent variety of shells, though admittedly, a lot of them from here are usually moon snails 😅 I'm glad you've enjoyed them all the same. Thank you so much for coming along on another big Hervey Bay adventure 🥰

I have 3 favs today. First is that gorgeous orange and deep red flat scallop, next is the barnacle and last but not least is that piece of coral. Thank you for taking me on this wonderful adventure. Never stop filming the moon snails and the scallops please. They are so wonderful. Love, love, love going shelling with you. Until next time please stay safe and keep shelling!

G'day Anita 👋🏻💖 Oh my god yes, there were so many perfect moon snails this time!!! Just absolutely lovely and gorgeous; I'm always so spoiled when I go to this beach 🏖️🐌 The Campbell's Strombuses I liked so much, though most needed to go back into the water...I should go back soon and see if any of them are empty now 😅 Oh wow, your favourites kinda surprised me at the end; I didn't expect that little piece of coral to get a shout-out 🤩 it was a cool little piece to pick up; I'll probably bleach it so it turns all white 🤍 Aww thank you Anita, I can only film and share what I like because you're here to watch and support it. Thank you so much for taking the time to join the adventure today 🥰

Good evening, Maddie Wow, what amazing shells again. I loved the dark red flat( it is one of my favorite colors. That was the color in my wedding so many years ago. The 3 different kinds of venues are so very nice. The jokes wintaletrap was a new one for me and the Grey beard arc. The commercial scallop at 12:15 just loved how it had so many colors. Very beautiful to me. The dark jingles are nice. The dark dog whelkes. The nutmege wow. The turban, moon snails, tapestry clam, and the strombus are very nice. It was so very nice of you to put them back in the water. The barnicale was just so unique, along with the piece of coral. I know I missed so many others. Cannot pick a favorite one, but the dark scallop and all 3 of the venus clams are pretty close for me today. The moon snails are just beautiful. Thank you for the video at Harvy Bay again. You found so many different shells today. I am just amazed by the number of different shells you always find. No matter where you are, you find a shell I have never seen. So it is always nice to see a first for me. Thank you so very much, Maddie I really enjoy your shelling videos and how excited you get. You make me have a great day always so thank you for that also. Have a wonderful day😊

G'day Toni 👋🏻💖 I'm so glad that you liked that super red flat as much as I did; it's such a lovely and deep colour! The curved Commercial Scallop with it's array of colours is super cool as well! The array of venus clams from this beach is also super interesting; I do like to chow them when I come across them; especially the Lamellate Venuses. Ahh, for the Juke's Wentletrap, I believe I miss-IDed it; I'm told it's a juvenile Imperial Wentletrap; I have never seen baby ones of those, so I didn't make the correct connection. So glad that you liked seeing the strombuses as well; they probably would have perished if it was a hot summer's day, so thankfully it was a cold, damp winter's day instead. The Turban shell and Nutmeg was super cool too, again, I'm glad you liked them as much as I did 😍 I don't think I will always find new shells, but I have my finger's crossed that I have some new ones to find for next time too? Aww Toni, I'm relieved that I could make your day just a little better; I know you're dealing with a lot right now. Thank you so much for coming along with me for a shell finding distraction 🥰

G'day Mimi 👋🏻💖 Hahaha, yes, here is the long-awaited part two of this Hervey Bay trip! I'll be back to my rocky headland home next time; hopefully there will be some goodies waiting there for me!! As for the shells from here, I really wish I could've found some nicer spindles; I've only ever found whole ones from the beach further up the road...but the ones... doesn't have nice moon snails..so... anyway!! Wow, I love the picks for the favourites; the Dark Dog Whelk is such a cutie, and whoa, the only Hayne's Turban all day was the runner up! I'm glad you also likes the Strombus shells too, I am very biased towards them 🤩 Thank you so, so much for coming along on another big shelling adventure 🥰

G'day Oceanluvn Gal 👋🏻💖 The Aussie Jingle are pretty fabulous, but I was quite surprised by that black one today; the underside was almost like mother of pearls (nacre) with how shiny it is... I don't remember my other jingle finds being quite as glossy! The Flinder's Venuses are lovely too; I always make sure to pick up a few extra every time I go out there; I really like them in the end displays!! Oh gosh, and those scallop flats too!! Thank you so much for coming along today 🥰
@SandCoffeeRocks
@SandCoffeeRocks Год назад
Oh yes, YES!! I LOVE that impression they leave in the sand, it just makes me HAPPY in the most necessary way. Also, and it's a bit strange... but they're pretty much always facing with their coloured side down. I wonder why they wash up like that? It makes me want to liken these scallop flats to toast; toast always lands buttered side down too!! Thanks again for watching 🥰
@oceanluvngal
@oceanluvngal Год назад
@@SandCoffeeRocks Hmmm, I didn't even realize the flats are typically coloured side down. I wonder if that side is a bit heavier. Or may it is less smooth so it catches on the sand. Maybe the beach just wants the colour to be a surprise? 😜
@SandCoffeeRocks

I certainly love flipping them to see the surprise and the wonderful texture left in the sand!! But yes, I think almost 100% of the whole ones I've picked up have been colour side down 👇 it's probably because of the reasons you've said 😉 smart cookie 🤓

This time I had five favourites; I really went overboard with how many I liked!! The Juke's Wentletrap I liked a bunch, but this was also the same trip that I found that gorgeous Pallas' Wentletrap earlier that day, so it didn't impress me a lot in comparison 😅 which is why it didn't get mentioned at the end. I LOVED the lovely red-purple flat too, so amazing! I really should have given the Dark Dog Whelk a shout-out, it was such an adorable shell that I like a lot 🤩🐚 I think your favourites are perfect!! @@robertabessey7990 Plenty of species of Wentletraps are rare...I think Wentletrap species in the USA are rare, but here? I mean... I was shocked when my shelling friend said that she's only ever found 7 Wentletraps after two years. I might find 2-4 in one day!! She doesn't go shelling for as long or as often as I do though. I guess 'rare' just depends on how lucky you are, and how much you can look for them. I love them, so ille always be happy to find them 🐚🤩

G'day Lisa 👋🏻🐚 Oh goodness, they are a great shell, aren't they? I'll be completely honest, I'm only about half sure that I've matched them to the correct species that I found during my research. As for why they are so hard to find; I can only guess that they're not "collectable" shells as far as anyone here is concerned?? I certainly have not seen them for sale on eBay or Etsy, but then again, I don't usually look for clams! A suggestion for you to try though; look for them with the scientific name, as a lot of shell seller will prefer to use that for their listings. The Flinder's Venus is (Placamen flindersi) which will help your search. Even if you simply search for Placamen shells, I think that will help a lot of find this one, or ones similar to it.
