After reading all these comments, am i the only one who feels sorry for poor codsworth for being alone for 210 years and still trying to take care of the house ;_;
"Father" is not your son he is some random bad guy that runs the institute. That 10 year old shaun is the real one if you play the game further shaun is being controlled by the institute. explanation if shaun is 60 years old and kellog is in his 30-40's when shaun was captured why is shaun older than kellog?
+RjGhostWizard The funny thing is, some of NV's events are recognized in 4, but are simply glossed over. Now here's something we must have; LW meeting TS. Their locations are pretty damn close to each other, and - if I'm not mistaken - the Glowing Sea might overlap both maps. Or, at least, finding LW's gear over there, just to tip the hat to them.
+TehUnoman Well, there is a lot of room for DLCs. For example, the Institute and the Brotherhood fighting for another-high-tech-pre-war-creepy-lab-complex, with the Lone Wanderer leading the Brotherhood forces.
The female SS during this sounds like she's on the verge of a massive grief induced mental breakdown when her son doesn't recognize her. Male SS is pure justified anger. A protective father who's internally panicking. He sounds pissed but he's under complete anxiety and confusion. GOD THESE VOICE ACTORS ARE SO GOOD.
konnor cahoona I know, but for me I just can't kill him. But I did kill them (the Institute) after Shaun died in the story. Never regretted that decision. Lone Survivor: My baby's dead, now prepare to die. Institute: O_O
@@elite4vlogs754 I always thought about that. There could always be the chance that they're straight up lying. Wouldn't be the biggest cover up in history.
This scene always gets me kinda emotional. Your family and the world you fought for just taken away and killed before your eyes. You not only soon realize that you missed out everything in your son's life, but that he's now an emotionless douchebag who defends the institute for killing his own mother and your spouse, and taking him away from you. I can only imagine how hard it would be to finally find your missing child and him not feeling like your child at all. Just messed up.
Nah, if you have enough Charisma, Shaun will tell you that he was sad about Nora’s death and has spent most of his life broken about what happened to her.
The Institute is doing the best given the situation. The situation is messed up so there’s not really much more. You can really get mad at them for. Sean had 60 years to get over his mothers death so course he 10:38 is gonna sound like a douche, but his hearts in the right place
+Jesse Goodwin their should be a unique dialogue when that happens : Lone survivor : yeah about you’re dad/mother … it wasn’t the one that came whit me in the vault .
That is possible. Almost every family tree has mix in it, which means that most everyone has a recessive trait of a different color. Usually every 1 in 4 offspring have that recessive trait. I know a person who both her and her husband have blonde hair, yet one of their four children has red hair. Genetics.
+Issack Marquez A mother has bore a child into this world. Or, if you are rebellious, she has bored a child into this world, because fuck the Grammar Police, am I being detained? >:D
"the player has been through a lot is an understatement!" he fought super mutants and other despicable creatures, swam in radioactive water not to mention a green sea of toxic waste, discovered every hick town east of brotherhood and cannibalized gross human remains, then at the end discovered his son is biologically older than him and the leader of a secret society full of cowards and scientists. um yeah.....really bad timing
Shaun: But, what matters now is that you and I have a chance to..."begin again". Damn, Shaun if you want to begin again you should visit Sierra Madre son!
FUCK NO! I fucking had it with that place and the fucking god damn gas and the whole collars beep beep beep bullshit! And I couldn't even get that many gold bars it was just like congratulations you just finished the most unfair dlc in history now FUCK YOU no cool rewards! FUCK SIERRA MADRE!
+Justin Archibald Don't worry I understand and to rub the salt upon wound I manage to take all 32 gold bars out the Madre! I buy all shiny guns from Gun Runners after that! (xD) Heck, If my Courier have rank 3 strong back perk like Sole Survivor it would make thing easier!
I always have a hard time killing Baby Shaun because of the tapes Father leave behind "If you are hearing this, then the time has come. I am gone. I can no longer look after young Shaun. I hoped that you might be willing. He has been reprogrammed to believe he is your son. I hope that was not too presumptuous on my part. Both he and you deserved a chance to... To be a family. Please, take care of him." damn that shit hits me like truck
During my first playthrough I socked Shaun in the face and killed him, then did the rest to the whole Institute. Only later did I find out the old guy was shaun, not the little boy. Damn you my blood thirst!
Yes, shaun is your son, but is he really? He's basiclly the institutes child. They raised him and made him who he is, the Brotherhood is the only family you have left in the commonwealth.
I'm waaaay too late, but can you blame him? He didn't had a father/mother while growing up, but he's still your son. He's still that baby that your wife/husband held when both of you were running towards the vault. The one that you took care of. The one that you were afraid to lose when the bombs exploded. Shaun became the best he could in that cirscunstances. Even if he was a complete psychopath, i would still comprehend and accept him as my son. Look at all the things he had to go through when he was just a baby. His world got destroyed. One of his most important figures was killed right in front of him. Still so, he managed to overcome ALL of this and become the leader of the institute that captured him. I'm fucking proud of my son LMAO
I honestly died in a way I can't explain when I found out about this. They just outright took my baby, killed him and replaced him with this monster. Shaun was such a good little man in Kellogg's memory, so polite and kind! Then the spirit of that kid died for this grimey old man. Honestly, I could not cope. I was so triggered I killed the entire institute sigle-handedly with my power armour and got banished the second I left. Not that there was _realistically_ anyone left in HQ to keep me out, but the game didn't recognize that so even though I murdered every synth, scientist and the very leader in their facility, NPCs still talked about the Institute like it existed. Guess the kid NPCs left in there just took over the family business real maturely, huh?
neeveekins Baby Shaun is different to old Shaun. Baby Shaun has many potential futures that depend on his upbringing. Old Shaun had his path laid out for him
+Alex Hooi Yep that was clear, I remember one asshole on Steam started to spoil it in the comments on every early review from users already playing from 9th November xD It was hilarious and sad at same time, he spammed it to everyone so it was impossible to don't read it, more harder to forget it but now I finally discovered from myself... Btw, I tried to kill Shaun but nothing happened to story XD I was excepting a "Time Paradox" like MGS3, but after killed him nobody even noticed it so i saved and try to come back to Commonwealth but no mentions on Shaun's death, wtf? XD
Tes Fallout I did too, but he's the founder of Institute, so he's the villain, plus he's not even surprised for his mother dead, so I shot him first time I saw him but nobody around noticed and just keep going...what's fun is even during the last mission (I choosed to Nuke the Institute with the Brotherhood of Steel) and guess what? His dead body was still there, i was WTF? XD
Illusion Spark beat the Institute ending, it explains everything: he does feel bad but remember he has been alive for so long he already dealt with the pain, The Institute is not evil what so ever they just are trying to rebuild humanity under ground with synths
+The Crew A.S.S.I it seems so, but i haven't seen any version of Shaun with a dramatically differing facial structure, they all seem to look about the same, apart from their skintone and eye color.
omggsgsvwjwb nooo we’re never gonna live this down. I can imagine that upon learning that the person who did romance danse is going to have an awkward conversation once they get back
Sadly....I was expecting this scenario happening. Don't get me wrong Fallout 4 is a great game I am just disappointed in this being the big plot twist...
No in truth I was expecting this because it made sense logically. Shaun was removed from Cryo at an unspecified time and taken by certain group. We are frozen again for an unknown amount of time. If you were frozen longer than him no doubt we would see him as an adult. And if he was with the Institute for his entire life no doubt he learned and followed their beleifs
+Scott Price Yeah, none of my friends believed me when I predicted the twist before we saw this scene happen. Still an really enjoyable game like you said, but I wanted my expectation to be wrong :P
+Scott Price I thought he was going to be the eight year old kid we see with kellog. I didn't believe father either, since I found it strange Kellog would look the same that long. But then it's explained
Father: He hasn't told you what happened to your son. Aedan: I know what you did. He said you took him. Father: No Aedan, I'M your son. Aedan: No! It's IMPOSSIBLEEEEE!!!!
how old was kellogg then? 60 + his age when he took shaun, sure he was part snyth due to technology enhancements. (edit: wish I never asked) (edit: how do you delete threads aaaa) (edit: please, this was a year ago. Im a changed man! I know why now, please stop with the messages and insults D: )
+Leyse Beard Both the thumbnail and the title only spoiled THAT you find him, nothing else. From that you could just as well assume you found his corpse or something. Watching this is really just your fault.
I really feel like the Sole Survivor was made to be female. I've done this section as the female protagonist. And her voice acting was so unique here. When I agreed to stay at the Institute, She gave a deep breath and a sigh... before agreeing. This one felt so... rushed..
I guess it's my bias for now. I'll finish my male character run within the following weeks to see it myself. But I was a tad disappointed in the male version of finding Shaun.
+Travis Gibbons Yep , I have both playthrough . Male (BoS) & Female (Institute) and my female character was very emotional . I also felt like this story was how a mother lost his son and not a father type kind of like .
+_Rakeial I plotted to destroy the institute after this chat, I was gonna murder the heads of all of the institute departments and Shaun at the same time, but there's another twist that happens that made me change my mind.
I’ll admit, the first time I played through the game and experienced this, I was absolutely blown away. The writing, the plot twist, it was all spot on, and it was really thought provoking for my 13 year old self. But it goes from 100 to 0 as soon as you reach this point, and it has ZERO replayability value. Once you experience it once, the magic is gone, forever.
I hate playthroughs where the user only chooses the "bottom choice" on the dialog wheel - which is always the "good" choice. Have some variety, get angry and mean sometimes. Even sarcastic.
I guess it's different with other people I rather hate it when people pick the angry and sarcastic choices makes them sound like a jackass really. Buts that probably do to me being a polite and open minded person.
I think he just wants the player to be different because in a real life scenario you wouldn't be able to be that good. But if the player is trying to get a specific ending then I can see why someone would play like that. Both sides have good arguments and I think that playing both ways is necessary to explore the whole game.
I have defeated the institute and BETRAYED shaun, but not for the brotherhood, FOR MY WIFE, FOR ALL THE "COLATERAL DAMAGE" THEY CAUSED IN THE SURFACE. Was my decision ok?
2:57 "So yeah dude, I know you are in the middle of something... but I just wanted to remind you that you leveled up and can pick a new perk........................ ok bye." Damn pop-ups.
Specifically, JUST Shaun's but it would include many extreme similarities to the main characters and their spouse. That's why you were called 'the back up', in case something happened to Shaun.
***** u must be like 12. Kid everyone saw it comming. It was obvious after u went frozen again he got older. Sorry if your so simple minded and can't even tactically think ahead of situations.
+Thomas Noorlander I remember making a joke to my friends that Shaun would be an old man since you fell back into cryo-stasis for a while. Turns out I was right.
I created an imaginary sequence where my character shoots Shaun and goes on a rampage around the institute only for him to die and come back to the real world(aka I went back to my last save) where he's having this conversation with Shaun.
This is such an emotional scene, I tear up every time. Seeing father and son, reunited after all these years, stand statically in front of each other, while one belts out awkward exposition...man, Bethesda really outdid themselves this time.
+ryan ruland Omg.... perfect idea: someone needs to take the "Shaun" sound files from Heavy Rain, mod them into Fallout 4, create a character that looks as similar as possible to Ethan, and press X to Shaun during this scene. xD I can imagine it now... "I am now it's lead-" "SHAUNNNNNNN!" "I'm sure you have-" "SHAUN!" "I am-" "SHAUNNN!"
I actually have you to thank for this game. I came across your vids randomly and decided to give it a try. At first, I went through the presets hoping to get someone who looked like your Nate!
I always wondered why the institute didn’t take the player character and spouse in the beginning. They could have had them reproduce and provide more clean offspring to work with. Shaun should have thought about that when he took over he was just a dick lol
Accepting the fact that one day your kid will be an adult is one thing, but this... this is completely something else. How can he possibly cope with this after everything he'd already been through?
I am so glad that I gave the institute a chance. The whole game up to that point paints them as the bad guys, but it only takes a couple missions to see that they are CLEARLY the good guys.
It's a very murky water to swim in to call them the "good guys". They kidnapped people from the commonwealth and replaced them with synths so they could experiment on them with f.e.v. Not the good guys in my book.
Matt Allen The Railroad are bad guys who don't realize they're bad guys. They THINK they're doing what's right, but they are potentially destroying the entire human race.
Lord Gaben I know we all got extremely emotionally attached to Paladin Danse, but think about it this way. If "judgement day" was looming in the near future and the only thing that could save humanity from a future synth control/extermination scenario, would they not want to destroy any and all machines? Bearing in mind that these are military tacticians, I think they are completely selfless in truly trying to save humanity, even if it means cleansing the brotherhood from the inside out.
Wouldn’t Shaun also have been exposed, having left Vault 111 with Kellogg and the Institute Scientist, before eventually going to the Institute? There had to be a time where he was exposed, as during Kellogg’s memories it shows him in a house, but not in the Institute.
The Institute can teleport, and everyone sans Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes in the opening cutscene is wearing a Radiation Suit. I have a feeling Kellogg is pretty much their Wasteland contact until he gets murked and replaced by you. Unless you go Minutemen/BoS on their asses.
Allright one thing why I DIDN'T believe father is the son is because Kellogs.. Kellogs took baby shaun.. then why after 60 years kellog still alive and not old ? He should be arround 100 years old.. he's not a synth, not a ghoul, and if he has the technology to stay alive with robotics part, why Father as the institute leader not using it ??
i love villains who aren't all bad. like it's actually plausible to agree with them, their goals, and their point of view. to really empathize with them really makes any story (video game or not) much more meaningful and complex, in a good way
Him knowing Kellogg confuses me. Wasn't he just a baby or was that baby a synth? Can someone explain it more in depth please .. I know that he thought it was only 10 years that passed but really was 60 years (2220 to 2280ish)
I haven't done the danse romance yet. Waiting for my wife to make a female her in the game so I can play as her. She wants to be with the brohood and since I did as well we came to a compromise, and I don't get to be the brotherhood.
Aw this game is so hard with the endings I was like yea ad Victoriam! Till I found Shaun led the institute I'm like dang I can't kill Shaun so I'm like screw the brotherhood family first
It was a hard choice, but I chose to stick with the brotherhood. The institute caused so much fear to those of the commonwealth, including kidnapping people and replacing them with synths so they could experiment with the f.e.v virus on them. It wasn't right. Ad victorium!!
+Kenny “Dead Men Walking” Anderson Shaun's plan was to make you the new Kellogg believing your devotion to family was stronger than the one to friends. And you fell for it. The Institute is EVIL!
