Ty and Tim metal detecting using only a pinpointer. In a trench at an old abandoned silver mine for leaf and wire silver, plus a few larger ore pieces. email: meminerrocks@gmail.com
WOW!!!! OMG!!!! It's not everyday you truly see something new to you. Those microscopes have changed our whole perspective, for sure. This is an INCREDIBLE picture of a truly INCREDIBLE rock. 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏
My guess is in iron, somehow. Because the rock they came out of seems to be a mix of cobalt and iron. I've only encountered this situation here (though there is wire silver in other places.. just not enough to try to piece together anything about where it came from or where to find it)
Loved the images under the microscope!! I have been tinkering with photographing tiny samples of rock, under different light, with just a high school chemistry scope, flashlights, and my iPhone. Even the tiniest grains,(dis-guards from cleaving and etching),are galaxies in and amongst themselves. Well done!
Hiya Greg, hey! That's so cool!!!! I love it, it's small but very awesome. Some people are taking micro pictures of the smallest things, just like that.... and I really dig it. Lol but for real, I really like seeing pictures of things that normally you can't see with your necked eyes. I see Daisy's doing really well . And I hope you are too. I also hope your Christmas was a great one too. And I hope you have a awesome blessed day. O.....awesome video dude! 😁 Cya! 😺🐟out!
Wow, I love that silver wire. How would you prep it to be a mineral specimen, of silver wire? MeMiner, I know you explore a region in Ontario rich in minerals. I live in Montreal, if I went there what areas and minerals should I target, to collect world class specimens? I love your show, and wish you and your family a great holiday season.
There is some great collecting in Quebec or cross the border into Ontario. The only collecting in PQ that I have done is gold panning in the Eastern Townships. Not sure I wouldn't get in trouble doing it now. Merry Christmas.
Daisy! Such a pity that beautiful silver wire formation can't be seen that clearly without enlargement, amazing stuff. The bigger ones in the still shops were nice, especially the one that looked a little polished. Yipee, my second christmas alone, perhaps next year I will have the chance of a trebble, i'm such a humbug. I hope everyone got gifts their families thought they deserve, then again perhaps not, I got recycled toffees, lol. Great video, I even laughed at one point, and that is not like me at all Seasons greetings for all who read this.
I had a heck of a time with the microscope. Either it shook or I did. No still shots except in the video where I stopped everything moving. The device has the ability to take a camera shot, but would shake when I pressed the button. I need to play with it some more.
I would not be surprised if cobalt does not turn back into a major mining town for cobalt and silver. Cobalt is a rare earth element, and is used in making electric cars.
@@meMiner the First Cobalt refinery in North Cobalt is the only mill in North America that can deal with cobalt (and the arsenic with it) I think the problem is it's not economical to mine because as much as you find pieces in the waste... there aren't hundreds of massive veins of it anymore. I, on the other hand would be surprised if they decided to try to get silver or cobalt out of here. I can see em reprocessing some tailings and stuff, but the veins just aren't there anymore to mine.
@@CobaltOntarioadventures Yeah, but who knows if there are not more veins to be discovered. I think a spike in silver prices would be the trigger for them to decide if pouring more money into the area is worth it or not. I have read that processing cobalt is messy and that may be another reason the government just won't allow it. I have read that in China where most of our REE. come from, there are some environmental disasters because of corrupt business men just dumping waste anywhere. If you study history the same things happened over here, and probably continue to happen over here.
@@PabloDiablo682 they can process it in North Cobalt. (Like a 10 minute drive) The metal just isn't here, and also most of it is owned by 1 company. So like I couldn't even get a claim and do it.. and they won't. They put in no money to keep them to code as it is. Every once in a while a fence gets fixed (sewn up with wire) But they have all kinds of mines all over the world that do make them money, so they don't care. The metal just isn't here to make money. Especially to a big ass company that did that here already at the Coniagas mine. They made one big open pit, about 1/5 of that property and only took out the top 2 levels (down to 75') That's it, there are like 8 historical levels there... there just isn't enough ore to bother.
@@CobaltOntarioadventures I see what your saying. Plus there are probably other mines that would offer a higher yield at a lower price. You know what i find fascinating, and did not even know it existed up until your and Grieg's last video, is that wire silver. It is so cool looking and hard to believe nature made it. Some of the strands look like they were made from smaller strands all put together. I wonder if any other precious metals do that like gold? I appreciate you getting back to me Ty. You have a few videos out I have not watched yet that i will binge watch sooner or later. For the longest time i was not getting notified that meMiner was making videos but they finally got that straightened out. I am now getting notifications from his channel. They always sent me yours i just have not had the time. I will catch up though.
Which 40lber are you talking about? LoL The one by the fence or the one he smashed apart and there is a pic of in this video? If you mean the one in this video, it was eye-balled from like 100 feet away lol (I'll get that video done soon too)
I wondered the same thing as it might help me find more. It seems that silver wire (aka silver curls) only happens with extremely high grade purity (average 99.7) and this is some form of natural unique crystallization. They are starting to study it more because it is also happening a little bit on the micro level in electronics that use silver and that can cause problems.
@@meMiner Very unique. Some of it looks like little strands put together to make fatter strands. interesting. I had no idea that even happened until now.
Natural. There are still some theories but it seems to be a unique crystallization of almost pure silver. It is being studied now because silver in electronics can also form fine threads or curls (which is bad)
@@meMiner that's amazing, and I appreciate the fast reply. I bet the ancient aliens guys love them . Seriously looks like someone braided wire in some ancient time . Love the videos , keep up the amazing work. I hope you had a great holiday
@@UnderfundedScientist I tried. There are other places where golf ball size and baseball size specimens have come from. Still, this spot was cool. I plan on going back with Ty
