Thank you! I appreciate that! I don't do gimmicky click bait or anything like that and so the channel thus grows slowly, but I'd rather have integrity than a bunch of views from people who don't share our passion.
Dude that’s a freakin awesome idea... Dāv - there’s an abandoned brewery in a patch of woods in Faribault... the old Fleckenstein brewery. There’s also the abandoned state asylum farm on the south side, too. If you want GPS coords message me on FB. 😉

Dav, thank you so much for this video! I always fantasize about doing stuff like this! I used to subscribe to lots of different reptile youtubers... but you're one of the last ones I still watch and subscribe to. Your videos aren't only entertaining but I love learning about the world and reptiles in your videos. Thank you for not over sensationalizing snakes in your videos with click baity titles like so many youtubers do, you really do a service to the reptile community. Love your movies, your channel, your mission. Rattle on Dav! (P.s. your herping videos are the BEST)
Lake Minnetonka is a HUGE part of me and my family's life. we take our boat and camp out there all the time in the summers. I love finding reptiles and birds out there.
Very interesting little guy.. newt. Love the educational content and the local trips. It’s nice since we are unable to really travel far at this point. Rattle on!❤️👍
Not sure. PBS suffered federal funding loss right after the current administration began and with the corona shut down, the project is completed but currently in limbo for now.
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures fingers crossed it will be picked up & aired! My brother in law dives around Big Island 🏝 after the 4th of July & other big lake events. The stuff found us crazy!
"Give it to me straight, doc. What's the verdict?" Dr: "well you have classic yellow belly, which we both know is a diagnostic feature of a central newt. I'm sorry" *gasp* ... "I'm going to be adorable!"
Bro loving the content and the amount of info you put out. So cool i feel like a kid again watching steve on sunday mornings. Mad respect for you and your vids. Awsome work brother keep it up.
I love newts! I used to have dwarf firebellies and red spotted (eastern newt) that looks very much like that central as an adult. The eft stage is much different though. Thanks for this, Dave!!! Keep em coming!
Love seeing all the different wildlife from our homestate! Too easy to forget how awesome it is in our own backyard❤. I didn't even know that island existed until today. As always, awesome video 😊🐍.
So true! To be honest if it wasn't for the 'rona, I would be off to some exotic place but I'm glad it makes me explore the how awesome our own backyards really are.
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures I gotta tell ya I bought a pretty little pied bp from you back in February I think it was? Ms. Penelope is doing fantastic and I love her to pieces😊. We affectionately call her Princess P, somehow a snake managed to become quite the diva around here😜🐍❤. My husband ended up forgiving me too, he said "I knew you were coming home from that expo with a snake"🤣.
How could you not of known about Big Island? It makes the news yearly for the crazy July 4th parties! Lake Minnetonka has a ton of islands Big island is awesome!
That must have been a beautiful amusement park. Nice to see the are as a haven for snakes and other reptiles. The little brown snakes, Garter snakes, Blue Spotted Salamander, a native Newt with 3 stages of life. I would love to visit Minnesota when travel is safe. I live in Connecticut. The retiles I used to find in the 1950's and 1960s have faded into memory. Very sad. Nice video.
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures I can see why, it’s not everyday u get to see some of those creatures u handled. That was cool to see the salamander and newt.. beautiful little creatures👍🏻
I’ve been on that island many times! I believe you could rent cabins in between now and the amusement park and my folks used to do that as kids! Love this content.
Thanks for the vid Dav. That newt reminds me of the California newt out here. Very cool. Old amusement parks are cool too. Great combo. We miss seeing you at the shows man. Take care and hope to see you maybe in January at the Pomona show. God bless you, brother.
It always amazes me that people used to just sink boats, barges and train cars intentionally in our lakes and oceans. Looking forward to your documentary about the bottom of the lake! There are stretches of wreaked ships in Mexico along the coast. At low tide you half expect ghosts to appear on some of the exposed decks- your footage reminded of those eerie dead ships.
"...and do what ever normal people do. The crazy people, we come out onto the island and find snakes" lol What a cool place to herp, looked like everything was healthy on that island. Found one of those places in FL on one of the keys. Iguanas running around everywhere at this abandoned zoo.
Loved this video! The footage of the salamanders was fantastic! Okay, I may need to take a trip down to the cities and explore this island some time. Actually, spring might be a great time to go - looks like we may have our own little Narcisse snake den right here in MN!
Hey Dav , That is a neat little newt . I fell in love with the Dekay's snakes here in the Catskills , NY , since I was about 12 . Also Ringnecks . I always found both in close proximity to each other for some reason . I also found both to be extremely non aggressive and gentle . Dekay's are really incredible and fascinating to look at and handle . I really wish it was possible to keep them as pets . Peace
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures That is great Dav . Thanks for letting me know . I'm really gonna try it . Maybe I can collect slugs all summer in the garden and freeze them to feed them over the winter . Lol , frozen thawed slugs , the latest thing in snake food .
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures I'd love to see that doc get finished. I'm really amazed at the variety of species out on the island!! 😃 I was stalked and harassed by a momma turkey the other day at Baker Park. I went after what I thought was a pair of big toads in the tall grass. It turned out they were her chicks! 😂
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures momma turkey made sure I learned my lesson! There were baby toads all over the trail. I bet the turkies were feasting on them.
Hi Dav! Cool video! Is your study of the sunken boats a video here on RU-vid? Would be really cool to see that. Thanks again....RATTLE ON!! 💯💯🐧🐛🐟🐢🦜🦎🐊🦉🦂🐒🐻🐍👍👍
This was such a cool video! Over here in the UK the most exciting thing we collected as kids were snails and ladybugs lol seeing these in their reclaimed natural habitat is amazing! Thankyou for sharing 👍
Really cool! Are you ever tempted to bring a piece of the cool clay pipes or piece of the buildings as memorabilia? Beautiful to see nature thriving there.
I still want one of your snakes Dave. I would love to have a bull snake that is what I’m trying to get now. There a re a few on morph market I’m watching but I know that is one of your favorites, do you have any babies not spoken for lol
This was one of the best videos I've ever seen on youtube. Like ever. I'll never understand why videos that are nothing but shit get a million views and videos like this don't. Is youtube that screwed up?
Thanks for introducing me to the genus Anaxyrus (Greek for king or chief ( (pronounced Ana zee rus?????) I didn't realize that Bufo had been dissected. Cheers, Chris
Wicked sweet video. I absolutely love exploring abandoned buildings and places and seeing all the new habitat as well. Loved meeting some of your family in this video as well. Thank you for sharing!!! Love these videos Dav. Keep them coming. P.S. Check out the other channel, click the link below!! Thank you!! #RattleOn #ReptileAdventures #AnimalAdventures ru-vid.com
loved it ! great video as always - i now i want to go there, but i couldn't see 2 small dots on the garter snakes head, i thought that was a sign of an eastern garter snake, or is it for plains garter? i find them all so hard to distiguish.. well not the red sided or ribins but plains eastern butlers ect.
First i always love your content. And if you take the time to read this. I would love to see someone out there do a vid about the aquatic rainbow snakes here in Maryland. They are found mostly in the water and around the Chesapeake bay area. That's all i really know about them. I have found a few pictures of them in different parts of the country. But the ones i have found pictured here in Maryland are amazing looking.. Just wanted to know what you may know about them.
They were intentionally scuttled and some were even burned when they outlived their usefulness. There's actually 90 known man made vehicles/objects on the bottom of the lake.
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures Yeah, sloworms i find every day and sometimes i see a dead grass snake at a road but to see live snakes here is difficult. You don't even find much in case of amphibians, a newt here and there or a small froggie ... we just dont have the variety you got over there.
