Finding the BEST Sands of Time Runs EVER

Sands of Time is a unique game in which the map is always random, and the actions of one team do not influence the score of the others. This makes comparing runs from different MCCs difficult, so I decided to create a formula to allow for better cross-event comparison. This video showcases the top ten canon Sands of Time runs on the re-scored leaderboard, touching on a variety of interesting facts and stats along the way.

I'm excited to announce a correction I must make! At 39:52, I credited Shubble with being likely the first player to offhand torches in Sands of Time, but Sylvee's MCC 5 VOD was recently recovered and she put torches in her offhand even earlier. This also means that Cyan 5 now has a publicly available perspective, which let me re-score MCC 5's runs more precisely (their scores are lower than what they appear to be on the chart shown in the video)

What's crazy is Jojo would have also gotten the gold key and vault if she understood what Scott meant by 'chain parkour' since she had only seen the more difficult parkour in her events and didn't know it was so easy.

Yeah she could have. But if she took a detour to get the gold key then Ranboo almost certainly wouldn't have been able to escape with the red vault, because she wouldn't be collecting sand for a minute or 2

Incredibly well researched and adds a lot to the SOT stats and scoring scene. Love it! Can't wait to see the strat video. The way you broke down the games was very interesting and honestly left me wanting more. I don't know about other people, but I'd watch videos breaking down each dungeon from every MCC. What is known, what teams did etc... Just an idea if you're wanting to do more SOT content :)

The video was so fun to watch. Very well-made! You get your points across easily, all your points were clear and it all flows so well. Smooth transitions and you talk so well. The editing is visually pleasing. And I love stats and mcc so this video was perfect to me.

Amazing video, probably the best way to check the best sands team. I would like to see the best runner ups/ best last places and stuff like that. Also maybe a ranking of hardest to easiest sands of time

The best runner-up is Orange 24, and interestingly MCC 24 also has the best 3rd place run, from yellow. The best last place run is by blue 30, with lime 31 close behind. I have the full list of runs in my spreadsheet in the description, and they are also sorted by MCC, so if there are any other comparisons you're interested in you should check it out

Awesome video!!! Just wondering if you have considered the z score since it takes into account the large variability from earlier mccs. It would probably exemplify cyan 29 even more.

That's a great point that I hadn't considered. The z score would probably work even better for what I was trying to accomplish, and I agree that Cyan 29 would probably benefit even more from it. I don't regret the way I did things though, as it's easier to grasp and I don't want to scare anyone away by making things too complex.

Green 30 isn't in the top 10 (it's 20th right now as of 4KO) because the MCC 30 dungeon was very high-scoring across the board. 2nd and 3rd place scored within 130 coins of Green, and every team scored at least 1100 coins (in fact, MCC 30 holds the record for the highest-scoring last-place team)
