What is the best way to go on a quest for meaning? How should one seek finding answers to the BIG questions of life? In this interview, I talk with author and thinker Os Guinness about his latest book "The Great Quest." Based on his personal journey, and a lifetime of study, Os offers some insights and practical steps for those wanting to live the examined life.

Even though I grew up in church, I really wasn’t saved until I was 18. So, what brought me to the truth was anger. One day I realized, “There must be a God to be mad at.” Why are you angry if there is no right or wrong? I met God personally at a youth conference. I felt His presence! Immediately I was overwhelmed by His love, His goodness, and His bigness. And He knew me. I was just me, dirty and in desperate need of forgiveness. He forgave me. I literally felt clean on the inside, like I had never ever done anything bad. It was a miracle. I was born again. John 3:16; John 10:10.

The title of the video says 'How to search for God'. We don't search for God. We just don't have the means and capability. God actually searches for us.

The dust of death is on everything as Marcel Proust wrote: Os Guinness borrowed the phrase for the title of his first book *The Dust of Death* (1973) which was packed with ideas and reasons for hope. In 2022 many Christians are in retreat as secularists come up with apparently convincing arguments against God and against the Gospel. Yet nothing has changed in the heart of man since John Wesley and George Whitefield preached to lost sinners.

"You know we have plans for finding a spouse,,.." Do you really? Would you care to reference Scripture itself? But of course Scripture couldn't care less about how current media defines such issues. "Scripture" is its own reference and authority. Scripture and its wisdom has surpassed any challenges to such--including the real basis of current challenges to such. . D

If you’r book doesn’t point people clearly to JESUS in my opinion it’s a waste of paper , because if your book really contained truth then it would surely point people to JESUS because HE is the way , the truth and the Life 🙏

@@pblogger9065 the JESUS in the Holy Bible and if someone says he is a real Christian and then goes and murders someone then his actions show he is not !! Hence why the bible says you will know them by there fruits ( actions ) I can say I’m and aeroplane pilot that automatically doesn’t mean that I am ? Me getting in plane and flying it would the proof !! JESUS said he doers of the word and He told us to love our neighbour and even our enemy’s we are to pray for 🙏 No where in the bible does JESUS say go kill in my name !! JESUS said go be fishers of men and women and tell them the gospel ( good news ) that YESHUA like it says in John 14-6 I am the way , the truth , and the life No one comes to the Father except through me ( JESUS) Islam teaches there followers to kill in the name of there god allah but no wonder when we know the Quran is written by People through the power of Satan unlike the Holy Bible inspired by the power of God 🙏

then there is the problem of finding the "right" version of this god and the "right" meaning of life. Alas, every Christian thinks that theirs is the right one and tells me that every other one is wrong.

It's not that hard to figure out people...if you want to have a meaningful life then do something meaningful with it.

MLK Jr found meaning in God's call to speak the truth to an unjust and oppressive system. Hitler saw his meaning in ridding human society from the weak and sick and racially impure so as to uphold the fittest race for mankind's future. Mao found his meaning in the Marxist communistic utopian vision to reengineer human nature. I can cite many others but you get the point. If u asked those guys they would say that they were doing the most meaningful thing in the world. How do we assess which "meaning" truly reflects ultimate reality?
@daleproctor3723
@daleproctor3723 2 года назад
@@zgobermn6895 Or the victims of church bigotry or covered up child abuse can be added to your list too among other things. I don’t know what you mean by ‘reflects ultimate reality’ but, if you somehow can’t figure it out on your own, you can ask the victims how they are affected and how they feel about it. Then you can get back to contemplating the fact that life has no inherent meaning but that doesn’t stop you from having a meaningful life.
