I had a feeling she would enjoy shooting the Walther. I always carried it with the 7 rd mag in it until i got the 8rd mag. it was my first gun when I started carrying. here in Indiana, we are allowed to do private sales. I bought it from my best friend since jr High, who passed away this past December. I'm always going to keep the PPS M2 in my collection.
I’ve been carrying the Walther PPS M1 for nearly a decade. The best handling and shooting little gun I’ve experienced. I shoot it as accurately and quickly as service pistols. I have both .40 & 9 and shoot them very comparably. That’s testament to the quality and engineering. Because it was engineered to handle .40, like the Shield and XDS, the 9 versions shoot so easily. There is a little extra weight, which, as Stav demonstrates, is manageable even for smol ladies. When I hear grown men complaining about a couple of ounces, or snappy recoil, I have to show them Stav’s videos. She carries and shoots as much gun as many of them, but with fewer complaints. She has a great attitude and Mac helps her maximize her aptitude. What a great couple!
Years ago, when single stack 9mms were all the rage, I retired my G26, which I could never carry comfortably IWB, for both the Kahr PM9 & Walther PPS M1. I loved both guns & was surgically accurate with both. After jumping back into the CC market about a year ago, I settled on the Shield Plus in 9mm over the Sig P365 & Glock 43X. These new micro-carry 9s have essentially made single-stack 9s obsolete…..although both the PM9 & PPS will always retain a sentimental place in my heart.
I do like the 2 gun comparison. I do like the Walther PPS. Great carry gun. Like that you show not only the gun, how you shoot it, but also how you carry it. Clothing options for females are so limited when trying to find clothing to CC. Thanks so much Stav (and Mac) for doing these videos. They are so much fun and educational. You Stav of course make it easy to watch..And as always say hello to the family. Hope the dogs are well. Take care.
I previously had the Walther PPSM2. Good overall pistol of average quality. I had to send the slide back to Walther to replace sight dot that came off, after 1st trip to range. Very small and easy to shoot, but the limited capacity was an issue. Carried for a year. I ended up selling it when I upgraded to the VP9SK.
Very cool idea with the episodes. It’s so refreshing getting a woman’s opinion, in my opinion 😂😂😂😂😂. Most people talk a great game, but end up leaving there gun at home. I pocket carry so I never have a reason not to have it. I carry a cheap 22 from Phoenix Arms. No it’s not the best, nor would it be for a novice. After you do the necessary mods, I just can’t get it to jam at all. I can’t keep it chambered, per the manual, but it’s a lil guy. And I roll with a extra mag. It’s about shot placement and just showing up armed. I pray I never have to use it. Great channel btw!!!!!
My wife and i appreciate you and Mac so much! Several years ago you helped us get over our initial fear of owning and operating firearms. We finally settled on Walther (PPS and CCP) as our EDCs/HDWs. Comfortable, low print, easy to shoot, and very, very accurate. Good to see the PPS finally getting some love. I hope it finds a place in your collection!
As I was reading the comment section I too have to agree with the people who liked your 2 gun shootout. I constantly do the same with pistols that I own. Even though my Shield Plus outshoots my P365, I find that the P365 draws more easily from my front jeans pocket so that's the one that I pocket carry. I carry it with out a holster as the P365 has a frame safety. But when I 3:30 IWB carry I carry my PC Shield Plus with its 4" ported barrel in a Clinger 2-clip tuckable holster with their comfort pad. With this setup no cover garment is required, but you do have to pull out that part of the shirt thats been tucked in to draw out the pistol. Comfortable too. I've found that when hip carrying a longer barrel doesn't impede you in any way so it's a why not kind of situation. Also carried this way but left the shirt not tucked in as it then became my cover garment in the heat of summer while hiking the National Parks trails walking by hundreds of people & no one ever noticed. The benefit is a much faster draw. And the Shields don't require different grip modules, trigger mods, or grip tape that the P365 series of pistols do. I did however install Magguts springs and followers for both the P365 mags & Shield Plus 10 round mags. As a frequent shooter & competing in IDPA and ASI competitions I've found that both my P365 and P365XL, & my Shield Plus go down every few thousand rounds & need factory repair. So I agree with the instructors who say to buy 2 of the same carry pistol, train with one & carry the other.
I really liked the walther PPS and thought about buying it as my first carry gun, but ultimately went with the P365xl because of the extended mag capacity: 12+1 or 15+1. I believe the Walther is a single stack.
The G43 is substantially lighter (18.3 oz vs. 21.1 oz with magazines), has a better reputation for reliability, and can be fitted with a LTT Striker Control Device which is much better for preventing an accidental discharge when drawing or holstering it than the protruding striker of the PPS.
I carry the Walther PPQ. I just love it. And I've never had anyone try it that they didn't fall in love. Completely agree about the Glock Block. They do not fit in my hand well. But I think a 43X would be the one I buy.
I used to have a Glock 43, but I sold it after I got the PPS because the PPS filled the same role but I liked it better. I just wish Walther would put out the PPS update. They could call it PPS M3 or PDP slim. I think a lot of people want to see a PPS more similar to the P365 or shield plus. So better grip texture, optics cut, and more capacity. Maybe improve the trigger while they’re at it. The PPS M2 is still a nice little gun, but it’s definitely dated in 2024.
THE WALTHER PPS M2 IS LARGE FOR A MICRO COMPACT BUT I CAN SHOOT IT FOR HOURS AT THE RANGE BECAUSE OF THE SMOOTH RECOIL IMPULSE. I CAN'T SAY THE SAME FOR THE SMITH AND WESSON SHIELD, THE GLOCK 43 OR THE SIG 365.
2 guns per video was cool. You should/could follow up with Shield Plus vs Sig P365. Only problem would be there a million variations of the Sig😂, i guess get the one most similar to the Shield. I think these videos are helpful. I like how you do the same course of fire each time. You're definitely help remove barriers to becoming someone who carries regularly
We have Hellcats, shields plus and all the 365's coming up....Not sure how that will actually shake out but were doing the all....We also have the 43x and 48.....We have already started the 380Ez for this week though.....Probably doing the G26 vs P99C next week......Mac
@@bobmacquarrie WOW you all will be busy! Shield 380 EZ is a great shooter, I bet by the time you get done with all these Stav will probably have a few more 100s!
Really enjoying your channel and like this video series quite well... Years ago I had two of the PPS, one original and one second gen but ended up selling them. These days it's pretty hard to beat the microcompact models that can hold over 10 rounds.
My wife's first pistol was a 42. Because of its light weight, it was a little to snappy for her and she would have frequent stove pipe jams. She now carries a S&W Shield EZ 9m. It's easier to rack and shoots flawlessly. I switch between the Glock 42 and 43 and enjoy both equally. We load with Federal HST 380 and 9mm. This is an interesting series, thank you!
A little tip for you. Don't shoot from reset. Reset during the cycling (by letting go the trigger forward) and end with somewhat prepped trigger. Improved not only my shooting quite a bit. Shooting from reset makes the shooter shoot right after the trigger clicks and not when the shooter is actually prepared. (Sorry if I didn't explain it clear enough, English is my second language.) Also glock mags work on a different principle than normal mags, allowing the spring to be weaker. The slide has a "nub" that punches the rounds down when it is going backwards and the bullets bounce up to be ready to be picked by the slide when it moves forward. Keep up the great work you do especially for women who want to carry.
Good channel, guys. I guess I have to go with the G42. It ain’t glamorous but it’s small & light enough to stick in my pocket and of course, absolutely reliable.
THANKS FOR A GREAT VIDEO ! THE WALTHER PPS M2 HAS BETTER RECOIL IMPULSE AND SAFER REHOLSTERING FOR LONG RANGE SESSIONS. THE WALTHER SMOOTH 6.5 POUND TRIGGER IS SAFER FOR SELF DEFENSE. GALLOWAY PRECISION MAKES A LOW PROFILE +1 MAG EXTENSION ALLOWING A HEIGHT OF 4.65 INCHES AND CONCEALABILITY. I HAD TO SEND MINE BACK FOR REPAIR ONCE WHEN IT WENT FULL AUTO. I HAD TO REPLACE A PIN THAT WAS WALKING OUT AFTER THE REPAIR. OTHER THAN THAT IT IS RELIABLE WITH HEAVY RANGE USE.
You scored 100 but I could see why it needed a closer look. Very nice reloads. One of the hardest things I've found to get a newer shooter to do is drop the empty mag. I have to tell them multiple times empty mags belong on the ground until you're done shooting that string. I handled one of the first PPS models years ago & it felt like sandpaper against sandpaper: slide, trigger, mag insertion & even the overall hand feel. Looks like it's been improved with the 2nd gen. I do agree about the "bar of soap" feel of the G43 & that's why I traded my G48 for a G26. The wider grip stopped it from trying to twist in my hand. As always, thanks for what you're doing for new shooters & good video.
Thanks for a great comparison video, and congrats on the great shooting with the Walther- I say 100%. I have been carrying the Ruger Max 9, which I am able to pocket carry with a good pocket holster and the right jeans. I paid 322.00 for it. For the money, it is a great value. Night sights, optic ready, 2 mags. Trigger has a long pull, but I got used to it. My Shield has slightly less muzzle rise, but is a little too bulky in the grip to pocket carry without printing.
I bought my first Glock in 1992, a G17. I now have a G19, G26, G43, G42. I not a "Glock fanboy" but at a very practical level they work well. I can pick up any of my Glocks and they feel and shoot very similar. I am use to the Glock grip angle and trigger. I don't need a gunsmith and can replace all the parts myself as needed. In the early 90s the pistol choices were 1911s in .45 or Glock usually in 9mm. If I were starting from scratch today would I choose Glock? I don't know. Glocks have a lot going for them, but there are lots of great choices today-M&P, Walter, CZ, Sig for example. There is a trend to seeking the Holy Grail of EDC and constantly chasing the latest/best new pistol. I can put holes in targets very well with the Glocks and that is what any pistol is for.
Always great vids from you, ma'am! Appreciate both your channels!🙏 As a guy that owns the 42, 43, 2 26s, 2 19s and a few off brands, it's always interesting to see others views on the little 42 and 43. Personally, I can't shoot the single stacks worth a darn. They carry easy, but so does my EDC 26. In fact my 26 with a flush mag is actually SMALLER than than my 43! And then I carry a G17 backup mag every.single.day too... and MANY G17 and G19 mags are spread around my truck, Harley, briefcase, house, edc bag, etc.... Walther is actually made very close to where I live... I probably, eventually will own one...some model... but I've been carry a Glock double stack daily since 2008...I don't see that changing. Just too important to me to never have a doubt about functionality.
When I saw Glock 43 was hoping for 43x. You did prior video. Will definitely solve the pinky hanging off the bottom with longer grip and 10 round mag as opposed to 7 on the 43. 43x is my edc, home protection and range. Yes, the trigger pinches a tad but you get used to it. The only add-ons I did was a nice tallon grip and swapped out the sites for tritium true glow night sites will not play around with anything mechanical. I love it! My EDC ammo is the critical defense hollow .115 grain, but as we all know, glocks will eat anything!great video as is everything you do including the new channel
Thanks Mac! I recalled Stav wasn’t overly fond of it but if she loves the 42 I think she will gravitate to the 43x with the longer grip and 10 round capacity. Be well!
Its actually worse...a 9mm in Stav's hands it like a 10mm in a 220lbs mans hands....A 380 is Stav's hands is mathematically similar to a .40 cal in a 220lbs mans hands......We are eventually going to do a video explaining recoil in detail.....Mac
I have the PPS as well. The 6 round magazine is not very usable. The 7 round is much better. The 8 round is my go to. It is a super comfortable pistol to shoot. If you change out the guide rod from plastic to stainless the “flip” is reduced as well. I also like the sights better than most.
I have a personal bias towards the Glock and love the 43x. I’m curious if you have ever seen a FN 503? I got one recently and probably the most awkward gun to hold but shoots like a dream! It’s a 6 round flush with an extension of 8 rounds.
I love watching the interaction between you two. Seeing you both work together at something you both enjoy is awesome. I was a little hurt that Stav chose the Walter because I carry a 43 lol but most of my carry guns are Glock so I am invested in that platform lol Great shooting Stav that’s 100 !!!
having two guns per video means we get to see more guns, i have been looking at the Ruger SR9 recently and the Ruger 9E. both seem to be discontinued but they were selling for a good price and you still find used ones, other guns im interested in are the new rost martin rm1c, the AREX delta, the Ruger American
I have the PPS. I'm going to replace it because it hurts the palm of my hand as you have experienced. I love how it shoots, but the narrow grip hurts my hand. Two guns per video helps viewers hear your experience with the firearms.
I’ve shot every single stack 9 except for the Tauruses and it’s so sad that the Walther PPS is so overlooked it’s hands down the best single stack 9 out there IMO. My PPS was my EDC for 8 years until 3 years ago when I went back to revolvers with my Ruger SP101 3” 327.
After shooting a 43, I also noticed that the recoil is more focused on the webbing between your thumb and trigger finger because the grip isn’t as wide as a double stack Glock which disperses the recoil a little more.
Regarding the course..probably a good idea you practice more real world tactics, basically within true closer defensive distances and also restricted one handed positions such as if an attacker was very close to you or physically on you where you wouldn’t have the ability to aim. A score on those maneuvers would be more realistic. What’s that saying in sports, what we practice off the field is what we’ll do on the field. What you’re currently doing is more like relaxed target shooting.
Comment and recommendation. As a Mass resident myself. I do notice some pistols you’re testing some of us cannot enjoy. But I understand the world is your market. 😊. But On the recommendation. The XDS mod 2 is sooo soo underrated. Please give it a try. Im so confident you’ll have positive results. The comfort, added grip safety “great for reholstering” etc. had Pps1 st gen for yrs. Now shield plus and xds. Mod2. great stuff otherwise guys. p.s. I also appreciate the bible study as well.
A couple thoughts : -first, I love this series!!! and love your content!!!💚 - I enjoyed the format of this video - the two guns at once - are you going to do one of these videos with your Shield (I miss her)? - I think for the test, that last shot should count, but wonder how effective that hit would be in a real life self defense scenario🤔 - I think it would be fun if you did another off-body carry video just like your last one, but with your new favorite bag that you use now.
Stav I like your videos and especially how patient you seem in your instruction. I wanted to ask Mac what is the best way to learn how to stay on target when someone who is attacking you is moving around as they try to attack? You being an officer is why I ask you instead of Stav. Thank you both 😂
That's a very difficult question to answer....If your asking me how to hit moving targets the best answer I can give is to practice shooting them.....Trap and Skeet have defiantly helped me understand how to lead and keep the gun moving but things in real life are so fast and unpredictable.....Its hard to say how to make things work....Mac
Love the PPS! I like the grip better than Glock and it's easy carry for petites. My first carry was the S&W M&P Shield EZ. Really like shooting it but way too hard to conceal.
It should be. If 40cal is to much for you, just get the 9mm conversion barrel. Voila, instant G19. Save on some target ammo too. It's in my rotation as my off duty carry to my duty gun. Glock 22.
great series, torn between sig365-380 vs glock42... do either of you have strong opinion that all we own should "match", like glock42 for summer, 43x for winter , and 19 for home vs ruger lcp max summer, sig365X winter, glock 19 home?
Love your videos! CA added a few to their roster this year, so I HAD to buy the Springfield Hellcat. I absolutely love it, and the size is smaller than my Shield 9. Due to the small size, I was a bit concerned about recoil, but it is not bad at all in my opinion. I would like to see/hear your thoughts on the Hellcat. I have average size hands and even though this pistol is small, I have no pinkie hang-over.
Glocks are Glock Blocks although they have gotten a little better. I think the reason people like Glocks so much is the fact that you can customize them so much.
I could be wrong, but it appeared that each time you holstered you inadvertently pointed at your support hand. I did that for years before someone pointed it out. 😟
According to the NRA those all look like hit except maybe the one with hit? If in doubt take a cartridge and push it straight into the hole up to the full width of the bullet, if ( in your case), you can’t see any white between the line and bullet, that’s a hit.
Glocks are very reliable, but for whatever reason they don't group well for me. The PPS was excellent and for me more accurate than a Glock. I would still have the PPS, but I sold it to a friend's daughter who is a police officer and it's now her off duty carry.
Hi Stav, I really like your content, But what I most love in the BRIGHT LIME GREEN ear pro you have, Can you give the some information on where you and Mac got them, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Kevin
Glock 43 for the concealment win. It’s smaller and fits in the front pocket of my Wrangler jeans better than the PPS. I don’t care that it holds a round or two less. No big deal. I always carry two spare magazines and I load faster than Joe Biden’s mental thoughts process colors.
I've never owned a Glock. Recently, I've gone down the Glock rabbithole 😑....the few that I've held do really feel like holding a brick...Glock 30. Thinking a Glock 19 gen 3 might be a good choice. My EDC is Hellcat so i don't necessarily need a Glock for EDC. My ego wants the 10mm....is that Glock 29??? Can't remember.
