Thank you for watching! I wanted to make a quick video to share some of the frogs and toads I found while walking around a lake at night. This video isn’t like most the videos I make, but I thought maybe it could be nice to post something a little different. I’m in Michigan right now with family, and I will have many more videos to upload including some from my time here!

I’m doing good! Thank you for checking in 😊. A few months ago my cousin, who was more of a sister to me, died from cancer. It’s been difficult for our family but we’re making it through. Because of that, and some other things, I haven’t had much motivation to make content for the channel. I’m trying to work on some new videos though! I appreciate your support always ♥️

Are you familiar enough with all the critters you find to just know the taxonomical classification by memory or do you have a particular tool/reference you use on the fly? Sometimes i find really crazy looking things here in NC and googling “pea sized bug with red spots” often doesn’t do the job lol. Love the channel!

I know most of the reptiles and amphibians by memory, especially the ones in Florida, but I do occasionally google things to figure out what I found or to double check and make sure I’m correct! Thank you! 😊

@@KkCreaturesheard of inaturalist? you just go to "explore" then search the most specific classification you know the specimen is inside into the search species box. e.g. if you know it is a cicada but want to find the species. make a custom boundary covering the bioregion where you found the specimen then select "species" to see the cicada species in that area and you should be able to match up yours with one of them to get the species. sorry about the long read, hope this helps in your identification.

@@smashlee6181 that sounds super useful! I will definitely look into it. I always appreciate a helpful tip on how to better identity creatures! Thank you!
