Ty Ferkin, a friend from Idaho, came down to Reno for the National Championship Air Races. I decided to head out to meet up with him in the middle of the desert part way between Reno and Idaho to do a little flying.
I need your opinions! Do you guys like these vlog style videos like this with more of the lifestyle and talking involved or should I stick with the short flying edits? Comment below.
Your vlog videos are really great, I can't wait watching another one. In fact, both kinds are really amazing. I find it really good that you're trying something new and at this point, you're doing so well that it looks like you've been doing that your whole life. :)
Trent Palmer I found you via Reddit. What great production. I’ll be checking out you previous vids. I’m 5hrs into my PPL and thanks to you and Ty, I’m thinking of a Just Aircraft down the road. I look forward to seeing more from you. Keep it up.
Dude you are living my dream right now. I am currently finishing up my aerospace engineering degree at calpoly but as soon as I graduate I want to live like this
Right on Trent I love the new vlog! Yeah I remember flying with you Quinn and Christensen that day we discovered "tower saddle" and a few other first timers that day I think we all got to name one! You keep making videos like this Trent you'll wright your own ticket! Look forward to flying with you again soon!
I keep coming back to this video for some reason. It always makes me laugh and every single bit of this video as well as all of the others is quality that isn't always easy to find.
Such a cool video. The vlog style adds character and story to what could just be another flying video. RU-vid needs more off airport videos like yours!
Hey Trent !i really enjoy your vids. The fact that you all seem like such nice young guys and NO foul language. Kudos. You have a good mix of vlog and flight time right now however having said that I could watch you guys doing your backcountry low level flying and crazy landings all day! Great work! Clear skies/safe landings
I like your putting the flights in context like this. You are really making me want to fly like this. I’m a 57 yr old corporate jet pilot (CJ2) but early on flew hang gliders and a bit in my brother’s Kolb Ultrastar. Just not quite able to swing it financially, went thru some lean times in aviation and still feelin’ it. Appreciate scratching this itch vicariously through your excellent vlogs. Wife even likes them.
Your videos are spectacular. You have set the bar so high it would be increasingly challenging to top the next one. I look forward them. I saw an amazing aerial photo of Dana plateau, Yosemite just today and immediately thought of you. That would make one heck a landing and backdrop. Looking forward to a video from that location eh ? All the best and safe travels.
I just came upon your channel a couple of days ago. Started with the Draco introduction. You are my new go to source for decompressing after a day of work. Awesome content, dialogue and background music. Thanks for showing me a “ hobbie “ I had never thought existed.
New pilot in Ohio, (15 hrs in) i am enjoying your videos. I found your channel "researching" the kitfox. 👍really sweet little plane. I do love that just highlander. Keep up the nice flying vlogs.
That's so awesome. I just recently found this channel and seeing my city's name was awesome! I live in truckee! Pretty cool that you're so close. Good videos and good quality. Have a good one man keep flying!
I really loved seeing you enjoy your flying....running the canyon, yanking and banking, landing just about anywhere. The Wild West....America.....Freedom! Does not get much better than that. That’s fun stuff right there!
New sub! I LIKED the left wing wide angle cam. I could watch that for hours. More of that please. Diving into your sight in search for more of that now. Cheers!
I'm super hooked on your videos. Just started watching about two weeks ago now I'm marathoning through them! I never knew about this type of flying. Now I'm looking into flight school just so I can get a plane and do this. About to text our mutual friend Tommy Suell about the best flight school to go to here in Vegas.
its a small world. My grandparents lived in Susanville and I spent the summers there when I was a child. I love your vids .the flying and scenery is epic !
Love it ... great trips all over .. interesting problems and team fixes. Fabulous sights with personal touch. Thanks Trent I would trade my car for a Wilga any day.
Great Vlog!!! Man I can't wait to go flying with you again!!! Love the Flying Coyboys sticker!!! Surely the namer of Tower Saddle could get one ha ha!!!
Trent, like your use of Sony action cams. I had a couple mounted to my RC aircraft and the footage was fantastic. I live in Salt Lake area and recognized your West Desert Air Park footage with Draco. Randy P was trying to talk me into a Rans tail dragger. Being a type 1 diabetic I figured that could spell the end of me so I passed on flight training. An aircraft I really like is the Aerotrek 220 very similar to your Kitfox. I am successfully retired and think flying would be an unacceptable expense. Yes, I could afford it but my pockets are not bottomless. I will enjoy watching you.
Your videos are great dude! I owned and flew a Phantom UL with a Rotax 503 for about eight years. Much of out flying was on some of the dry lakes around 29 Palm Joshua Tree Ca area. We loved to do very much like you are doing. Awesome times! Please be leary of canyons. I learned about the treacherous winds in them back in my Hang Gliding days. A few years back a Dr and his friend flew up a box canyon near palm springs that they were not able to turn around in or climb out of. That was in a GA plane.
A word of caution Trent. I had an experimental single-engine open cockpit aircraft I flew out of Stead for 10 yrs/1,000 hrs. I only landed on dry lakes, but flew a lot of low level. One January day I was out over the Petersen Range to the NW of Stead. I saw some deer and went down on the SW side of the range, with a NE 10kt wind or so. I was being very careful since I knew I was downwind of the ridge. I remember turning into the mountain about a quarter of a mile or so from the ridge ... thinking about the wind. All I can remember next is waking up on the ground standing next to my plane stuffed into the ground. I then walked out down to I-395 with no memory until I reached the deer fence. I'd been cruising about 30mph above my stall speed. Obviously not enough. In my 10 yrs of flying I'd never experienced anything that would have caused this. Just an FYI watching this video with your off-airport approach-to=landing downwind. It's like playing Russian Roulette.
We sure liked that one Trent! Nice story telling, not taking yourself to seriously... and good camera work. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!
I saw you guys the other day at the Reno Stead airport!!! I am on a bell 407 Helicopter crew fighting fires. We just flew home to swan valley idaho today. You guys would have a blast flying here.
I'm up in Klamath falls about to finish my kitfox 5. Your videos inspire me and others to keep going. I hope to meet some day and learn a little more about videos. I made a video about a flight to Oshkosh from Klamath in a 150. Thanks for doing all you do for us.
Awesome! Mine is a 5 as well! And definitely look forward to meeting you some day. You should consider coming out to the High Sierra Fly In, it’s October 19-22nd at the lake bed we met at in this video. It’s probably the best flying event out there.
Greatly enjoy your videos. I've seen as many as I have been able to find and hope you continue to crank them out. I hope you take to heart all the expressions of concern from your viewer comments, and I will add this one: Please be careful when you're "wheeling" the surface of streams and lakes. I'd hate for you or your friends to make a slight mistake that would cause any kind of mishap. You think it's fun. Probably is. Just be careful.
I love your videos and your Vlog! Keep up the great job!! I think most people on You Tube are to critical no matter the content or videos. I think there are to many arm chair Quarterbacks on You Tube. Just keep doing what your doing!!
Thanks Trent for this video you said you're going to Reno I love Reno Air Races I watch them every year on RU-vid I'm never there because I'm living in Branson Missouri don't have no time to get down there and go to Reno so I watch on RU-vid thank you Trent
I like that Highlander the more I look at it. Nice paint as well. You can never go wrong with red and black. Real flaps and ailerons, yeah baby. Going to do a little more checking, as long as I can get the normal gear with some 800's on there. Not into the cartoon tires.
Your videos are awesome. My dad was pilot that flew air ambulance and I've done some flying but don't have my pilot's license. I'm at above-knee amputee not that that could completely stop me it's more like the cash. Keep the videos up as they are awesome. I wish there was some better music but it's not that bad. Stay safe
