In this video, I share my views on a talk I watched recently by Sir Ken Robinson, education expert, on the importance of 'Finding Your Element'.
When someone is "in their element", it usually means that they're immersed in an activity that they love, they have aptitude for, and excel at.
When we're in our element it feels like we're in flow with life and time passes by very quickly without us even noticing.
This state of flow is something we're all capable of entering, it usually just requires that we find and engage with our 'element'.
Sir Ken Robinson describes our element as those things we excel at and love to do, things that come naturally to us and that others enjoy from us.
It can be anything like writing, singing, dancing, art, knitting, woodwork, photography, mathematics, scientific research, anything at all.
The telltale sign is that you love to do it and are good at it / praised for it.
Finding your element in life is one of the most important and self-loving things that you can do, but it is also a great thing to do for others, because when you're in your element, you ultimately serve all of humanity.
