Finding your lost BitLocker recovery key with John the Ripper 

my hash extraction only has $bitlocker$2$ & $bitlocker$3$, can this be used together? How does one generate a wordlist, how do I know where to find the mask? My Bitlocker recovery options doesn't have a "More options" option to choose "Recovery Key".

Thank you for being honest. I was getting really tired of all the youtubers showing off hashcat or john making it seem as if this is actually possible. Bottom line is that without the key, it takes about a billion years to brute force a 128bit key. You can only really do this for "fun" and your bitlocker to go password or recovery key must be in that list. I've had a PC running hashcat for months now looking for a simple 8 character random alphanumeric password on a test bitlocker to go drive. Either I'm doing something wrong or it just can't do it.

Are you doing this on the PC that have the BitLocker Recovery issue? I don't know the pass code to mine.

Hi, im having a little trouble here. the john2ripper has found the recovery key it says "DONE" but when i entered the recovery key it cant unlock the drive. how i supposed to do?

I follow all the step and reach to last step, but i still fail to get the recovery key... i use Quadro P2000 it don't have the row with key (?) but still come out warning, only left xxxx, minimum need xxx to perform. then press any key to continue

Where did you get the bitlocker recovery key list?
