"Even if it takes 6 months to do it, these six months are going to pass anyway, so do it" Dude... I searched for fingerless whistle, ended up with the best motivation quote for life. Thank you!
Learned it in a week. I d say the most important thing is understanding the airflow. Air goes from lungs to the small opening between tongue tip and front teeth. From there air goes to the "pocket" under the tongue and out. When I understod that it took me few days to master it. Just keep experimenting and you ll get it eventually. Good luck!
@@cunningham2010 Damn, sad to hear that, ik how nerve breaking process it is. I will give you one more tip that helped me. Thats experimenting more, and more, and more. Lot of people does same thing over and over and then there is a question "why it took so long?". There are few things you should experiment with: 1. Chin - You should try moving it more foward, but its different for everyone. 2. Tongue tip ( foward - backward ) - Try super foward, then go more and more backwards. 3. Tongue itself ( up - down ) - Like I said in last comment, you should have "pocked" under your tongue. It can be bigger or smaller, you adjusting it by moving your tongue ( middle of the tongue ) up or down. Thats all. You should experiment with those 3 things and every few minutes of trying, change stuffs a bit. Hope that helps, if u have questions feel free to ask!
@@KevinKanzelmeyer Thank you very much btw, this video was the most helpful to me. I got it in one day and now I'm practicing volume, tone and consistency.
Took me four days of hissing like a snek and spitting all over the place, but i've got it down now. Feels great to be able to finally whistle all over te place. Thx man!
@@KevinKanzelmeyer is it possible, that this technique not working a significant gap between the upper front teeth? At least I didn't get close to a whistle yet 🤔😅
@@ProgressiveEconomicsSupporter what do you mean? edit: ohh okay, sorry. was just confused since i didnt know what you meant by "at least i didnt get close to a whistel yet" but you were probably being sarcastic. i'm in the same boat as you rn, i still can't figure out how to whistle but i hope both of us will be able to whistle sometime!! good luck, friend
@@papasscooperiaworker3649 i have a significant gap between my upper front teeth, so I guess I cant get everything sealed with my tongue or lower lip to whistle like that. Or doesn't this matter at all? Could not figure out yet how this technique works for me 😅🙈
THAAAAAAAANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUU! Amazing! After 44 clueless years I finally stumble in your video and WOOOOOOO!!! Got it. G O T I T. I have my new superpower and it is great! AWESOME! Life changer! My dog can't ignore me any more with this thunder in my mouth. Never ever! My sons can scream and shout at any height but nothing can resist when I release the THUNDER-WHISTLE!!!
haha, sorry bro, that statement to the wrong video, but yours has been very helpful indeed. First video that seems to get me closer to the whistle. I can already produce tones, but not loud enough yet 😅
As a professional trumpet player (who has wanted to learn this for years) I can certainly relate to the strain that this puts on your muscles in your cheeks, etc. I can tell it's gonna take me a little bit to get this, but the process is everything! Thanks for the great tutorial!
I saw a woman hail a cab from a block a way in New York city about 30 years ago and thought that was the COOLEST thing ever. Wanted to learn ever since but no one could explain it well enough. I'm giving this a go! Thank you! 😊
I watched several videos and this was one of the most important ones for me to get this whistle! You are a great teacher! I have been trying to get this whistle my entire life and just figured some people have the right mouth structure and not everyone can do it, etc. NOPE! I practiced every day for over a week and I finally can make a whistle sound. It's not loud, but I know this will grow as I learn to control it. Thanks again! ******Update 6/7/23 I've continued practiced this whistle over the last several months and am SO GLAD I did! My whistle is so loud that my own ears ring when I do it! When I first started I couldn't even make a faint whistle sound and I wanted to give up. Then, a week later, I got a teeny-tiny little sound and it over the last six months it continued to grow louder and stronger. I did not have a "magical moment" where I figured it out. Rather, it was many realizations that added up to a strong whistle. The key to the whole thing (for most people) is building up the strength in your tongue. Then, you have to experiment with your tongue placement and jaw placement. Whatever you do, KEEP GOING! Even if you take a few weeks off, just come back to it. I am so glad I learned how to whistle loudly without having to put my fingers in my mouth! You can do it, like he says, the time is going to pass anyway, so just practice even if you don't want to! Don't give up!!!!
I'm 62 and have never been able to whistle searched all of RU-vid for best advice your explanation and demo is fantastic and ill give it a go , I'll let you know if I am successful
-Reason why most people need some time to practise is because the tip of your tongue will have to resist quite some air pressure which js unorthodox for most tongues. So mose time is gonna be spent "working out" the tip of your tongue to be able to resist the pressure.- Nvm, you actually explained it as well lol. First person to actually see bringing this up. It's the most important part.
Hey when u first learned how to do this how long did it take u and did yours sound high pitch and loud enough to make your own ears ring but no one else’s ???
My guy, this is probably the best overall tutorial for the whistle. I have wanted to be able to do this for years then I found your vid. Took me a couple of weeks to get the basic sound consistently, then a couple of months practicing to get all the Dr. Cox variations. I work in education and when you have a group of rowdy teenagers this is such a great trump card. Thanks for your awesome tutorial
Today I did it! My long desire came true today. I just got to listen My first feeble whistle sound.... So happy. I did it. Thank u soooooo much for guiding me. In quarantine I learned it. My very long long desire.
I love how this guy doesnt say “You wont get anything good from those videos” But instead he says to go there to get tips and tricks and helping other youtubers
3 week and so many video without results and I see your video and I just make my first little whistling, your explanation is very clear ! So I go back work it 🙏🏻
I spent hours and hours at work for a couple weeks before I got this! This is like a year or so after I saw this originally and I can now whistle melodies Easily with this method!
Believe this man when he says just keep practicing. I stumbled across this video just trying to learn the whistle. I followed his recommendations and his advice to just practice. It's been a couple weeks now and I finally got it! Not perfect yet, still have to readjust from time to time, but I am definitely getting whistles out! Best adjustment for me was to bring my bottom lip in closer to my teeth to where they are just barely touching one another. And really force your lower lip/teeth out in front. Thanks for the advice, man! My dogs have been going nuts!
Thank you for this video. Since I was a child, I'm expert whistling loud with fingers. But I never knew how to do it without fingers. Now with these tips I'll practice to perform it!
That is awesome! I did it! It took me 2 weeks. But I had to continually practice. I think the big part in it is strengthening your facial muscles. Once I heard it, it kept getting better and better. But this is a great tutorial video. Thanks
Dude!!! You don’t know how much I tried it and for how long. I saw a lot of videos and any of those worked. Eventually I decided to just dropped it because I was so bad. But after saw your video I nailed it just watching it two times!!! Thank you so much bro
This video works! Took me about a week to make the right noise. I watched this video over and over pausing and rewinding at certain parts trying to really see the placement of everything. The first couple of days I got headaches from pushing my jaw out so much. Tip: it's more in the tongue placement than in the jaw movement. Watch the video closely and just keep experimenting with tongue placement. Keep practicing and you'll get it.
Hilarious that you opened with "to get my kid's attention" when I'm watching this because I work with kids at a school and that's why I was searching for this thing on YT. I usually use the really loud finger-whistle at work across the schoolyard because a picking up a "real" whistle takes way more time and I can stop the bad behavior in it's tracks.. Thank you for this!
I haven’t been able to whistle for fifteen and a half years. I got desperate and looked it up. No video has helped me get close. This video has helped a ton. I have not whistled yet! But I can feel myself getting close.
Best tutorial video on RU-vid, i been at it for a couple of weeks, till I saw this video, what nailed it for me was the position of the bottom jaw. Thank you very much
This may be one and only moment that i keep so much attention, sometimes rewind and watch back a man's lips. Good job dude. As a person living in an earthquake zone, i want to be able to loudly whistle, absolutely handsfree. Thanks again
Hey Kevin. I want to leave a quick hello and thank you for this tutorial. I started 3 days ago and found your video very usefull. After two days I was a bit frustrated but I kept going. And now, on day three I eventually found my sweet spot and can make a sufficient whistle. Not very loud yet. But I am happy and will improve. So thank you and stay healthy. Cheers Tim
dude thank you, it's been 2 months I'm exercising at it, now I do it almost perfectly (still need training) but you video made me understand how to progress in doing it, i was not really far tbh but eh, what you told on the middle-end explained exactly what I wasn't "able" to do, and what I corrected now. Thank you so much, metal concerts and calling my dog will be much funnier and more efficient !
To change the pitch takes quite some time, but I change it by slowing the air flow- the slower the air moves out, the deeper it gets, but I don't know if that works for others.
I've been able to do fingerless (or with fingers) whistling for as long as I can remember. Not particularly tuneful but it can be very LOUD and heads turn from a long way away. It's a wonderful little skill to possess and sometimes just do it for fun in a busy place then look around like everyone else.
I'm attempting to whistle without fingers, but I can’t do it . I made a video of myself trying to whistle; could you look at it and tell me what's wrong and give me some advice?? Vídeo: ru-vid.comYMNZerazUu0?feature=share
I learned how to do it today. I practiced for about an hour and 30 minutes total and I got the whistle. Now I have to get my mouth muscles stronger to make it super loud. Thanks man!!
One week update (thought I might as well). Progress is great. I have only practiced a few minutes a day but I am now able to get pretty loud and consistently whistle. Now I'm going to try and do the high low high whistle thing (the one he does in the beginning)
YES !! I’m so close ! First time of my life I get to hear it even a little bit !! I’m super good at casual whistling and always lacked that kind of strong whistle. I’m about to fix that 😃💪
Hey Guy: Thank you so much. Within 10 mins. of watching this video I heard the whistle sound. Now I just have to keep practicing to perfect it. Such great advice that practice is required. Thanks again!!
@@hellmet894 Try whatever shape and position your tongue can do near to what he is doing, in an hour or two you will hit the right position, then start trying blowing air with different speed
Been trying for about ten minutes. I’m now at the stage where my tongue is quivering and I sound like a tire with a teeny tiny puncture. Or a window that is cracked juuuust ever so slightly. I just inhale a deep breath of air and continuously let it out while adjusting my teeth/lips/tongue positions. Great video 👍
Took me about 5 days and of practice and now I can rip ‘em! What changed for me to get it was my tongue had to be almost in the middle of both my teeth. Then just my lip forward and down a little and I started to get it. 👍
Damn, I could never figure out how to do this. Watched a bunch of videos on how to whistle with your fingers in your mouth and nothing worked. With this I could do it before the video was over. Right now it's just a single note, but it's really loud and I think I'll wake up my neighbors if I keep practicing. lol Thanks!
I came to learn how to whistle, and so far I’ve only learned how to mouth fart in 20 different ways while sounding like I’m choking. I’ll get the hang of it.
I was blowing air while trying to figure out the right positioning and I heard the whistling noise for a brief second! That's the best I've done so far, so this video has helped me. I just gotta try finding that right positioning again haha
I watched almost every video, and this is by far the best one yet! Especially the first tip helped me improve my whistle, I'm just trying to get it constantly
ALWAYS wanted...now it's as good a time as any, I'm 58 so thank you for sharing this...you have totally convinced me...IF I make it I will for sure let you know!!!!😁🤙🤙🤙
