Eyyy that's great to hear!! I'm happy to know it helped! That's exactly the reason I made the video, because I couldn't figure it out from watching other RU-vid videos
best. explanation. ever. I've been practising on and off for 2 years now (watched soo many youtube vids!). I learnt "unwillingly" a bunch of different kind of whistles but it was never loud enough. Now finally it is LOUD! Thanks to you I learnt it within one week. Thanks a million for making this vid!
I'm so happy to hear that it has helped you! My English wasn't that well spoken at the time of recording, but I'm very glad to hear that it helped you to learn it! Thank you for writing the comment. Good luck with practicing!
I'm attempting to whistle without fingers, but I can’t do it . I made a video of myself trying to whistle; could you look at it and tell me what's wrong and give me some advice?? Vídeo: ru-vid.comYMNZerazUu0?feature=share
Oh my god, I have been trying to do this for so long, and I after seeing your explanation and the drawing I got the first sound ever to come out of my mouth.
THIS IS A REALLY GOOD TUTORIAL!! Definitely the best I've seen so far. Thank you for breaking every step down and even making a diagram! You're a beast! Make some more! And share any other cool things you know how to do! Been curious about this for a long time but it's so OBSCURE! Thanks RU-vid!
Aww i'm really happy to know you got something out of the video! I only made it to help others out that are struggling with how to make this whistle :D
Holy crap this little change made a difference. This about my 10th whistle video I have watched tonight. I’m dizzy and covered in spit, but I got my first baby whistle sound. Going to keep practicing until I can wake the whole house!! Lol thanks for this video.
BRO WHAT??? The air coming from the top and bottom of your tongue is like the most important part! Why didn’t they tell us that?? This finally helped me get it
Yeees exactly!! I spent sooooo long before i figured out that others didn't explain this at all. When i finally figured, i decided to make a video to help others in the same situation as i was. I don't make money off the video at all, so i'm just really happy whenever someone finds it helpful
Thank you for this video! Was trying for hours doing what everybody else said and your explanation with the tongue and the air coming from above and below was the trick! I can't believe nobody else talks about this. That was the key for me. Thanks again!
I'm glad it helped you!! When I figured out myself I thought "I gotta make a video so people won't make the same mistake as me", so you really made my evening with your comment :D
@@dadarknezz One question, what if i can make the sound but cant make it loud enough? I trying to get ear piercing lvl of loud ( like when i use the regular "blow the candle" style) but as soon as i increase the air pressure the whistle stop.
With lots of practice you can increase it very little at a time. Just increase the pressure slightly, just above what you can usually do, and then try to find the whistling sound again. That's what I've done to increase the loudness of it, but I'm sure it can be increased much more than what I've done, as I don't have the spaces to practice being loud XD

Excellent job man! Your illustrations definitely helped. I was making the whistle sound with 20 mins. After keeping at it for hours o finally found a sweet spot but now my lips and mouth are too tired to do it anymore lol
I'm glad to hear that you finally learnt it! Haha good idea to take a little break. Now you probably just gonna fine tune it to how you like it, so you can practice getting more control of the sound or practice to make it louder :D
First of 5 vids to explain the tongue action - I did the tongue fludder and make the sound for the first time finally!!!! Time to quit my job and leave my wife! 🙃 My future is looking very bright indeed! Seriously feel like I won the lotto!
Yeeeeah you got it!! Well done! Now it's just time to practice to hit the right spot on first attempt, and practice to make it louder. I'm glad you got something out of it!
Thank you so much! I can't really do it yet but I feel like I'm really close now. It's crazy how no other tutorial mentioned that the air should come from both sides of the tongue!
This was so helpful I watched another video and it showed me a way to whistle but I wasn't really good at it and when you said you have to move your jaw forward it helped me out a lot you're so amazing
Aww it warms my heart to know that it helped you out! I'm just happy to help others out so they don't have to waste as much time as me to figure it out :D
Exactly! That's why I decided I should show people so they don't make the same mistake. I spent many hours until I figured out the air also had to come from below, so I wanted to spare people all my struggles :) Thank you very much for your comment, it warms my heart
@@dadarknezz You are welcome :) one thing i would add also is that i have a big gap between my front teeth but it hasnt impacted my ability to whistle esp after your tips
I'm giving up, maybe because my teeth got gaps so it cant become loud , but i found new way to make whistle , but still sounds different than i want to learn ..
*STORYTIME* I tried this when I was at school campus and I never knew I'd get it on the first go but then when I tried, it literally made a loud whistle and the worse part, there was a teacher walking by and she thought I whistled to her..... and of course I had to get grounded for whole month😂😂
@@dadarknezz I mean I'm kinda happy I got it at the first go, but ehhhh..... It wasn't worth getting grounded for a whole month😂😂 But now I already know how to whistle🤣🤣😁
Can you vouch for these claims? 1. The tongue's tip should not touch the lips or teeth. 2. The sides of the tongue should brush against the upper teeth but not the lower teeth. 3. When the tongue muscle is strong, the notch on the tip of the tongue develops over time. 4. The tongue should cover all of the upper teeth, with only a small opening in front for air to escape. 5. Teeth should be used to pull the tongue tip back by tightening the sides of the tongue. Do you have any more suggestions? Why don't you make another video with new tips, as this one is your most popular on RU-vid?
I believe that sums it up pretty well, although i don't think 3) is correct. For this method the tongue strength doesn't matter much, but positioning and control over the tongue matters - which is something you'll improve on after learning the whistle as well :) 5) is probably correct, though i don't think it's something you need to pay attention to, as it's the natural way to move the tongue, but i don't think it's a wrong statement Haha yeah i guess i could make another one, but i'm not really sure what to add - only different angles to see the tongue. I wanna make other youtube videos though and i plan to make a separate channel for some of it ^.^
@@dadarknezz You're doing a fantastic job. Should I expect some air to pass through my chin when I whistle, or should I squeeze my lips together tighter to avoid this?
Dude, I watched a lot of videos and I have been taking bits from almost all of them. And I have been getting sounds. Even loud ones, but hard to find the sweet spot. Tried looking in the mirror and replicating it but couldn't figure out why it sometimes worked and other times it didn't. Until this vid, airflow needs to go top AND bottom. I do hold my lips and mouth a little different than you but I guess everyone is different. But after your video I went from 30% to 70-80% in a few minutes. Now just gotta work on muscle memory to keep getting louder. Thanks buddy :)
Aww it's so nice of you to say that! It was pretty much the exact same situation i was in, when learning it the first time! I watched all the other videos (at that time, only a third of what's now had been made), and none of them really explained it clearly. I'm really glad i got to help you!

Your theory & drawing is super useful when I was trying to give up😢, other video really don’t mention about this, thank you, my teacher!!! & my sound just like a little bird, can you teach how to make a stable louder sound???
I did exactly as you, and it took me a long while before realising what i should do different, which is why i wanted to make the video. Thank you very much for your comment, i'm happy that you have learnt it! Keep practicing to get better now, good luck! :D
Omg! Hahahaha that's so true! o.O My look nowadays is much different though. I bet you don't go around in dresses :p And you're very welcome! I hope it could help out a bit :)
Hello! Thanks for the tutorial it is very good. I have gotten to make a sound but it is always the same pitch. How did you get the pitch to go up and down in the beginning?
Thanks for the kind words! I'm honestly not entirely sure how it's done. I believe it has to do slight changes in the pressure when whistling and maybe also a little about tongue placement, but i think the best way is just to practice, then i believe you'll get it at some point ^.^
The diagram is basically what made this in any way possible for me. Now, i still can't do it, but I can almost hear a whistling wind sound. I know I'm close. Just gotta keep trying I guess. I find it hard to move the tongue closer to the teeth. It begins to flap for me. What am I doing wrong? Does the tip of the tongue touch the top of the palate or where does it rest?
Hmm, i'm not sure how to explain this properly, but the tongue is made wide to it touches both sides with teeth. The tongue is mostly just "hovering" in the mouth, with the very tip just barely not touching the lip nor upper teeth. Did that make sense?
When I do it I’m only getting air that sound about like an “S” sound, or an air hose or something. It’s high pitched but it’s only air, no whistle. I feel like I’m getting the lips and teeth right, just not my tongue. Can’t figure out exactly where to put it even after the drawing.
The tongue is the hardest part as well. You should block the small gap between your upper teeth and lower lip. Then while maintaining s little bit of pressure in the mouth (like when you try to blow out, but the tongue is blocking the air flow), try to pull the tongue straight back, so a very small gap will be made between tongue and teeth, as well as between tongue and lip
If I understand correctly, then you're on the right path! It can be hard to find the correct position when using a higher pressure, but it seems like you have the right technique then :)
You can make it louder by using more pressure. To train this, you should do it in tiny steps, so you just use a slightly higher pressure. When you keep pressing the limits to how much pressure you can use as well as keeping the whistle, you will slowly get louder and louder
I explained it 2 years ago the whistle comes from a pocket of air between bottom inside lip an tongue as you showed I even showed it In action in my video. Just learn to relax the tip of your tongue while blowing air and that pocket forms
Saw this for the first time today and tried it. Interesting, I’m now making a sound that’s different from my normal day to day whistle. Not loud (yet), but certainly a slightly higher pitch. That tip about the air coming from below the tongue helped. The drawing was incredibly useful. How long did it take you to get it that loud? Was it like right away or within a few days?
I'm glad to hear it helped! Honestly, that thing about the air coming from below is something all other videos i've seen leave out, and it took me soooo long to figure out, so i thought i'd share it with others :D It took me several weeks/months. But it all depends on the amount spent practicing. You can basically go 2 ways when practicing: You can either practice getting it right on first attempt (it's pretty embarrassing to fail XD ), or you can improve the loudness of it. I personally chose to improve loudness for a while, and then later practiced getting it right on first attempt. I know it's possible to get it much louder than what i do here though ^^
I actually mean neither of them. It should be straight backwards, so your tongue is kinda floating in the air. That way air can come from both below and above the tongue
DaDarkneZz Thanks! I’ve been trying to learn the whistle, and I can hear a slightly loud whistle. But I don’t know if I’m doing it right, only thing I can do is practice! Goodday
@@izio272 Yeah just keep practicing! I was practicing for so many hours without getting anything at all. Then i rewatched all youtube videos several times and suddenly a thought got to me; maybe i'm just doing it wrong? I tried 10 minutes and then i could already hear it.... I got a little mad that nobody had explained it properly, so i wanted to make a video so others didn't have to waste as much time as me
10/10 video! I haven’t gotten it quite yet but I’m almost there! This video really pushed me forward so I can almost do it. I’ll edit if I get it. I liked and subbed you should too Edit: I did it! I finally got the whistle! It needs some work for sure but at least I know what to do now. Thanks for the video and hopefully more people see it!
If you have the correct clear whistling sound, then you just have to keep practicing. You can also practice making it louder by increasing the air pressure slightly and then finding the whistle tone again
It's positioned a bit like when you say "th" in "they". When you have that position you pull the tongue straight back, so it will create a tiny gap between the tongue and the upper teeth, as well as between the tongue and the lower lip. You just have to play around with the two tiny gaps to try to get it working
@@dadarknezz ohhh man thanks a lot was struggling so hard now I finally got I am not whistling but I a making a smiliar sound Agin thanks a lot man Your explaination is crazy By the way I was intersted to know what do you do like what's your income source??
I'm glad it helped! When you have the sound, you just keep playing around until you have the whistle. From there you can practice loudness or being better at controlling it :) Well, I'm just studying medicine to be a doctor, so I don't really have any income, since I don't have a job ^^
After wathing other youtube videos of it i spent about 10 hours over 2 weeks to practice without getting it. But once i understood that the air should come fropm both below and above the tongue it only took me a few more minutes :) In general, after understanding the principle it should only take like 10-20 min to get the first kinda whistle
It has to do with how hard you are pressing the air out of your mouth. It takes a lot of practice, since you have to reshape the hole it's coming out of, but by doing that you will also be able to make it louder :) I hope it makes sense
This is what most of the work has to be put into :) Changing the sound/loudness and then having it consistent on first attempt is the two things that requires the most practice Good luck! :D
I can whistle but it’s not nearly as loud as yours. Any advice? I would appreciate it if you respond. (I am 14 if that matters at all) (also, should the side of my tounge be touching my teeth?)
Try to build more pressure and find the whistling tone again. Keep trying to use more pressure and practice finding the tone, then you will be able to do it louder and louder :) Good luck!
@@ocblue179 Not really. You just push air out with a bit more force than usual, and then try to find the whistling sound again. I can't really explain it better than that, but i hope you'll get it!
As far as i can see, this is the method that most people use when whistling without fingers, so if you see others doing it, then this is most likely the same. But yes, you can practice making the whistle louder by increasing the preassure - it does require some practice though
I think they just barely doesn't touch the upper front teeth (the 2 teeth at the front), like 0.1mm from them. But the tongue touches some of the other upper teeth to the sides :) If it wasn't clear enough feel free to comment :D And good luck!
@@dadarknezz I get it man! Ionly can make it at low voice though, and I want to know how to position my lower lip in the upper teeth? Does the lower lip go very high up, or between the upper teeth and the tongue
@@fazehartjon6105 You put you put your lower lip like when you bite it. Then lower it just slightly so there can just barely come any air through the very small gap. Then place your tongue in the gap to block the air, and try moving the tongue straight back, to get a slight amount of air exit the mouth. You should mainly play around with tongue placement to get a small sound. When you've gotten the small sound you should start adding pressure to make it more of a wolf whistle. Did that explain it?
