Dang impressive but seems kije big hassle. Hows the fuel consumption ob propane vs gasoline? would be neat if you could hook to an external propane tank in a pinch and/ or also nat gas.
No, that aluminum block is what feeds the propane while mixing in air. That is metered at the tee with the bolt in it. You do not have to change the carb at all. The biggest problem with the gas carb is when it sits and the fuel dries inside the carb causing blockages. I had to take the carb off every year and clean it then re-tune it. Not any more. If I run it on gasoline all I have to do is run it for about a couple min on propane and it sucks all the gasoline out of the carb. I haven't had to clean the carb since the install. It's been amazing. Still running right now and we're taking the RV to Yellowstone national park next weekend
I see that you turned that clamp so you could get that choke open :) My question is, do you live in Cali from your username? I'm looking to convert my Kohler Confidant 4 to propane also and could use a helping hand if you're local? I'm in LA.
I'll assume you didn't gas yourself on your first trip with this set up, so can you share what sort of consumption this contraption uses for 75% load? I see many manufacturers quote fuel burn rates at 25 & 50% loads, but that isn't very realistic in my case. I either need lots of power to run A/C, fridge, water heater and quickly charge all at once, or I'd rather not listen to the F'ing thing...Thinking about making a boat anchor out of my Onan QD RV 3200, which has failed me twice on trips off the grid and southern engineering an after market dual fuel install. Hold my beer and watch this...
Hi! Thanks for the comment. I noticed that on a ten hour run it uses 7-8 gallons of gasoline. Propane would be like 5-6 pounds or 7-8 gallons depending on your measurement system. That Onan is a hog. Watch my latest video for how I upgraded to an additional and more fuel efficient generator.
