My son has 3 printers. I want to get more into it with him and I'd like to see your printer setup if possible. I like your "down to Earth" attitude and persona. Great job as usual!

I've had a few people ask about my printer setup. That is definitely on the list.

This was the perfect companion video while I worked on my own prints. This video was... phenomenal. I *love* your attitude -- and your assistant's! :D

Thanks for the video. I haven't done 3D printing yet but I'm sure the techniques can be used with other materials.

Absolutely! It works great to smooth a lot of surfaces.

I literally had the paint booth guy at work tell me how to pour from those cans today! Rotate the can so that the spout is on "top" rather than "bottom" and the air goes in much easier and it doesn't glug glug as the contents come out. :)

I've tried that, and I get the concept, but this particular can just frustrates me. The Menards can I have no issues.

What grit /grits are you sanding the glaze-coatings down to? Are you doing that in steps of grit as well? Lovely guest appearances will always be welcome and it's really awesome how well you work together!

Finishing 3d prints took me a few years to wrap my brain around; I like sharing information.

I really like this technique. I used it on some Jedi belt pouches. The comment about dipping in acetone reminded me of back at the semiconductor fab. We would clean quartz parts in a 15 gallon tank of acetone. You'd reach in wearing thick acid resistant gloves and when pulling out, your hand would get freezing cold because of the acetone evaporating so quickly. And the gloves didn't last more than half a day.

Acetone is no joke!

@@HawkWorley Yup. Neither is hydrofluoric acid. That was the one we were terrified of. Just thought I'd share.😆

Interesting to watch, thanks Hawk. I'm building up the courage to print my first helmet, it's going to be a Mandalorian one but I want to ask how do you size your helmets up to fit? It would be good if you could do a video about that one day.
@HawkWorley

Honestly, I model my own, so I fave a file thats the size of my head. When I print, I just get used to the thought of printing 2. You could just print a chunk of the middle, like I did for my Mandalorian vambraces.

Look I'm not saying don't use PPE I am in fact a lover of my eyes, ears, and fingers. But acetone is not radioactive waste 😅 why is everyone acting like it is? Box fan and being outside is fine if you can't afford vapor filters. any ways as with anything chemical do your own research and do use the right PPE for you. I would have a dust mask on when sanding for sure....

My garage really only has 1 door, so there is no cross ventilation. I only have 1 set of lungs, and as an exsmoker, I take my lungs seriously. Plus this is z tutorial, and I don't want to give others my bad habits.

When you say you steel wooled the primer filler. Are you using multiple grades? I only recently realized steel wool is better than scotchbrite pads and am still trying to figure out what grade i should be buying in large quantities. Thanks for the video and the encouragement. Ive tried the acetone and bondo mix but i thought i made it too thin now im realizing i was struggling because i didnt make it thin enough and do enough coats. Subscribed! 👍🫡

I use triple zero steel wool normally. I had that same problem at first.

Sorry for the stupid question, but are these prints in PLA or ABS? Thanks.

Not a stupid question. I didn't specify but these are PLA.

1:27 - Pour it from the other end. Seems counter-intuitive, but trust me on this.
