It’s actually a very well written and comprehensive book ru-vid.comUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 . I wanted to pair this with an updated book on local codes to start planning a post-retirement dream shop. I think I have just about everything I need between the two. The extra plans available for purchase towards the end are priced almost as much as full home plans, not little sheds however.

I didn't see haw you calculate the size of the deck to be exact number of boards and no ripping at the end frame.This for me is very important and ads to the perfect end result.For me this is one of the best deck's i ever seen and the exact number of boards without ripping the lest one is one of the things that i love seeing.So Great job you two.

How do you tie your pitching plate to the house with that weatherboard cladding? Is there a couple of posts underneath your first bearer so you don't need to install it onto the house but have it essentially floating/butt up against the house? I'm an apprentice over in South Australia, really appreciate your videos!

Great job! That's the kind of finish work I try and accomplish with my own projects. I wish more peoplei meet in the industry were willing to do such nice work. I see some real laziness with indoor and outdoor construction here. Just barely meeting code to make a few extra $€¥£ I just did a very small deck and stairs with 2 nice stair banisters as the railing posts. I used 4x the number of fasteners because I pocket holed the entire decking system pulling the decking down from below. The frame and deck have completely hidden fasteners and so they aren't exposed to liquid water, only water vapour. It's not possible on a deck your size obviously plus it wouldn't be up to code but it's pretty neat not seeing any fasteners on an exterior project like a deck. Awesome job with your channel so far you two do a great job with your carpentry and you do a killer job editing your videos. Keep it up!!:)

Good job. Are you not afraid your miters will separate with time?
@JBSeymour
@JBSeymour 6 лет назад
The mitres always separate somewhat as the timber expands/contracts. Even using composite decking, which doesn't cup/bow/twist, expand along the board length. The two mitred edges at least remain parrallel, the gap just closes in the sunshine. Anyway the craftsmanship of this deck is superb and I'd be a happy customer
@twigmond87
@twigmond87 6 лет назад
The short point of a mitre has the full width of the board that must contract and expand and the long point goes to nothing, so it doesn't contract and expand evenly along the length of the cut....
@twigmond87
@twigmond87 6 лет назад
And the gap would expand in the sun if anything...
@smokingcheeba420
@smokingcheeba420 6 лет назад
@@twigmond87 have you ever seen expansion and contraction? It happens more with long boards. The whole board not just the short point and long point.
@twigmond87
@twigmond87 6 лет назад
That's absolutely incorrect actually. Timber decking boards will expand and contract the most across the width of the board barely at all length ways or with the thickness of the board, hence the need to leave adequate gaps between the edges of boards. Mitres open up because there is 90mm of timber which gets affected at the short point compared to 0-1mm at the long point.
