The way i look at is, if they had had fray-check etc, they so would have used it. That's what i tell my self , while making my Medieval Dress.. Plus if someone is looking "that close" they are too close.. Yes i understand, some people prefer to work as "Authentic" as possible (who i am in awe of) , sadly i do not have the patience for that. As long as i'm happy and feel good in it, that's what counts. You are so relaxing too watch. But please keep resting as mush as possible. Woop on finishing the over skirt, i love it.

Your ironing board having a soft layer thick enough to pin into looks INCREDIBLY useful, especially if I ever want to give pleating like that a try - which always seemed way too daunting, but you make it look pretty straightforward, if time-consuming. I might have to see if I can make a new cover of some sort for my own ironing board that would let me use it in a similar way. Also, I know I said this before on an earlier video, but I am absolutely in awe of how driven you are when it comes to the immense amounts of work you put into your costuming. It's both inspiring and intimidating.

It’s a miracle ironing board cover and it’s also awesome because it allows you to turn your iron to a way lower setting as well! And thank you! Please don’t be intimidated, remember that you see it all condensed, but this sewing happens over an entire week or more! I’m gentler with myself than it seems from watching these!

I feel like you got the overskirt done so quickly!!! I remember you saying that you’re slow at hand stitching, but I think that’s not the case anymore!!! Also, thank you for sharing the vinegar pleating method. I’ve never heard/seen that before, but I’ve also never had to make pleats.... but now I know and “knowing is half the battle!!” You’re making amazing progress and thank you for sharing!!!

I enjoy watching your progress, and you are making me want to pleat something. I love historical garments and hand sewing and someday would like to make a corset, but don’t know that I will ever make it to costume college. Maybe someday my daughter and I can go together. It has been fun to see her get interested in the things I love and seeing her hand sew. I almost wish I could go back to college and major in history like she is now! In the meantime I guess I will get back to the blog I have been wanting to create. Thanks for bringing us on the journey!

The moment you said you had a hard time focussing I looked down on my tunic and realised I put the patch on the inside instead of the outside where it was supposed to go to cover up a hole... Not concussed just not enough sleep. Will tare off the patch and sew it on the right side. Tomorrow. Wow, those pleats look SO. COOL!!! on the side. Just finished listening to The Help on audio (free on RU-vid), super entertaining. Also totally feel your pain with the pleater. I made my own, and I am still not happy with how the pleats came out. Because it was just a scored piece of thick cardboard-like paper, it didn't hold it's shape or the fabric unless I weighed each end down with heavy books. :(

There are glasses you can get without a prescription that can reduce some concussion symptoms. There are bluelight filter glasses & there are the FL-41 migraine glasses. I use the migraine glasses & they are amazing. I have 3 rare brain/spine disorders which cause similar symptoms to a concussion. They may help you with editing & watching TV.
@michelleross9782
@michelleross9782 5 лет назад
@@Costuming_Drama FL-41 tint does more than blue light filtering. It can help with refresh rate causing eye strain, eye pain, headache, migraine. Nightshift, especially if you go through & make it more orange, can be helpful. I guess start with what you have on hand & then see if getting the glasses is worth it. One thought, while watching a movie & you want to see true color of fabrics? You either have to go back through settings to undo it & then do it back or just take the glasses of for a second & then put them back on.
@michelleross9782
@michelleross9782 5 лет назад
@@Costuming_Drama TheraSpecs are kind of coralish in color. There are lighter tinted for indoors & darker tinted for outdoors. Now you need to remember that If the lenses are not listed as FL-41 tint they will only turn things pink & not really help. There are a lot of rose colored glasses trying to call themselves migraine glasses to get in on the "hype?" Good Luck

@@Costuming_Drama It definitely helps!!!! but if you get the glasses with blue light filter/tinted that will make editing and watching TV way more comfortable. It save me at grad school, my migraines went down considerably after I started using these glasses.

Oh, this looks nice. Not at all the way I do pleats, which is interesting because you never know when you're going to need a new technique to do stuff. Maybe you could do the side bow and pin a little cocarde on top of it? Or maybe on the hat, if you're not going for Watson classic bowler hat? I am working on changing the silk on one of my antique parasols, the lace is appliqué (finally!), and now must sew the pieces together to check how it fits before putting even more lace on the thing. Fun! And be careful with that concussion!

So, I'm a total noob to pleating and I've never heard of using vinegar to set them- is that something you can do for most fabrics, or should it be mostly natural fibers? Inquiring minds need to know for Future Foof needs 😁 Going to start a pair of stays, finish a chemise, and hopefully get done a pair of pocket hoops for a new 18th century project - either a jacket/petti combo, or a full round gown, depends on my level of bravery lol. Reading and watching Outlander for inspiration.
